Old North Inn Hotel, Inverness

First off, the positives: the daytime staff was friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. Breakfast was fresh and good quality. The room is comfortable enough, the shower very good, so, five stars for that! Now, the not so positives: the maid never came to make up the room. We basically ran out of toilet paper and asked the night shift manager for a roll out two. “I’ll bring it up as soon as I’m finished in the bar- about 20 minutes.” That stretched into never. Other negatives: It’s expensive. Very expensive for what you get. If there’s a quaint 1700s post stop there, besides the walls, I must have missed it. All in all, it’s a nice enough place, far out from Inverness, but with half of the staff great and the other half … Not great. Three stars seems fair, but so would two…

Stopped at the hotel just for food on a cycling tour. Hadn't booked just came across it by chance. Great food and friendly staff. The smash burger was just the ticket after a day in the saddle and good value. Would love to come back and stay rather than camping in the woods 😁

Really lovely, friendly, chatty staff who made you feel really welcome. Great communication prior and during our stay. The food was great, large portions and tasty and the room was clean and spacious. The bed was a king which was very comfy, which was a welcome bonus as I suffer with my legs and back. What more could you want! We thought it was a great stay and would revisit if we were passing through again in the future. Special thanks to Tina and Megan.

Cute hotel and restaurant! We ate dinner the evening we arrived and it was fantastic! Shower was warm and the room was comfy.

We stayed overnight with our motor home and ate dinner in the restaurant. We had the mixed bonbons to start, which was a trio of red and white pudding and haggis, each with their own sauce. The main courses were fish & chips, venison burger and the smash burger which were all excellent. My son and I agree that the smash burger was the best burger we’d ever had. Definitely recommended.

We knew it would be a budget stay when we booked. We didn’t expect anything special and that’s ok. But what I didn’t expect was the feeling that we were not welcomed. From the very start from the check in process to the drink at the bar we felt most unwelcome and therefore were uncomfortable. We booked 3 nights stayed 1 and had to leave. Thank goodness we found an incredible place last minute. The person who checked us in was also the barkeep. She may have been overwhelmed, overworked and or wore too many hats. I’m not sure. The place was empty except for 4 locals in the bar She was friendly with them. Very short with us. The room was decent considering the price. But I couldn’t get over the way this employee whom I think was the manager according to one of the local patrons at the bar, I felt more and more uneasy as the night went on. Mind you we only had 1 drink at the bar and decided to call it a night which was only 4 pm. We decided to leave first thing in the morning. Upon checking out this manager (employee) is no where to be found except taking photos of our car. I greeted her good morning and she’s quickly trying to scurry away. I asked her if it was OK that we had parked there and she said yes she just needed to pick up our car. I told her that we were leaving and thanked her. It was like twilight zone. Very strange.

Just what we needed

Superb standard of food, service and accommodation. Will gladly return when next in the area.
