Medellin Apart Hotel Istanbul

This property looks nothing like in the pictures. We couldn’t even stay there. It looks like an old grandma’s apartment, unclean and smells. We decided to leave but the management wasn’t even there to process a refund. No communication at all. I lost money for 3 nights. Don’t book this property.

Having travelled most of the day and all night with a 14 months old baby, we arrived at this place at around 5am, the place itself looked like something out of a horror movie but we needed to sleep and did just that for the next 2½ hours as we were woken up by the receptionist who was knocking on our door wanting cash payment and he brought us breakfast which was a few lousy biscuits, 1 rotten apple, some black tea, 2 boiled eggs and a couple of other bits. We had a few biscuits and gave everything else a miss, then we decided to examine the room after which i went straight down to the reception to see if we could cancel our booking as it looked nothing like the pictures the hotel has posted online, there were 2 dead cockroaches in the cutlery drawer, no hot water in the bathroom, stains on the bedding (hopefully coffee stains) on the hardest mattress I had ever slept on, to be honest we felt disgusted at having slept on that bed, the room was freezing as the heating wasn't on (unless it was broken). I mentioned all of the above to the receptionist but he insisted and i quote: "Our hotel is 1 of the best, our hygiene standard is good, the cleaner comes everyday" so of course he refused to cancel the booking and refund us. He then followed me to the room, had a look in the cutlery drawer and said "The dead cockroaches are fine, I have them at home too" Oh did i mention that the lighting in the room was so bad that i would pay to watch anyone try and have a decent shave in that bathroom and be able to see what they are actually doing. The guy at the reception refused to refund us, but at that very moment our priority was to find a decent hotel (which we did within the next hour thankfully) rather than get into an argument with him. Once we shifted our belongings to the new hotel, I then went back and requested to be refunded but I was threatened with: "You will not get a refund and if you think about leaving us a bad review I will get my son to have you blocked from *********** as he is an influencer with a following of 2 million" I would urge anyone and everyone to avoid this hell hole, as you can get really decent 4* hotels for an extra few quid around the corner from this place. PLEASE AVOID
