This hotel is still under construction so keep that in mind as you read this review. The second floor was almost finished while the third floor was months out for completion. This hotel has a lot of potential but it started off badly. We arrived at the hotel around noon and tried to find the front desk. We walked around for a bit and couldn’t find it. A random guy off the street told us where it was. It was an unmarked door that was locked. We went to the bar to ask the bartender how to check in. She said she would call the girl. After she talked with the check in person, she told us that she would arrive in about 15-20 minutes. What!? Ok. We were on vacation and had just taken the bus from San Jose so we thought we would get a snack at the bar. I had shrimp, French fries and a Coke. My friend had wings, fries and a Coke. It was very good until I got the bill! The bill was $73 US! I almost passed out! Do not eat at the bar unless you have money to burn. Ouch! That really hurt. The office lady finally showed up and we started the check in process. We were told there would be a $100 deposit on the room. Actually, she charged us 80,000 colones or $152 US. Second shock of the day. My friend was staying in room 2 overlooking the pool. We were on the second floor in room 7 and saw another room 2. Rooms 1-8 are on the second floor. Our room wasn’t ready because they had change out the AC unit. We were put in a different room while they fixed our original room. They finally gave up and kept us in the second room even though I had booked a room with a balcony. Not a great start at all. The parts of the hotel that are finished are beautiful. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The only issue with our room was the broken bathroom window. It let the heat pour in so the bathroom was 100 degrees! We had to keep the bathroom door closed so the room would cool down. The shower has an instant on water heater. It was set to 53 degrees C (124 F) it was scalding. No instructions how to adjust it. I kept pushing buttons on it until I got it down to 39 degrees. I am 6-3 so I could reach it. My wife is 4-11. She had no chance. The shower floor is totally flat so the water can’t get to the drain. You end up with an inch of standing water in the shower all the time. There is no front desk to assist with issues like these. No phone in the room to call the front desk. The lady who checked us in was working at the bar. Remember the construction? Well they start around 7 AM even on Saturday morning. Can’t sleep until 2 AM and then they start banging and making a racket in the room above ours. We were the only people on the floor. They couldn’t have picked one of the other rooms that was unoccupied? The pool is beautiful. During the day, they play music at very loud levels which prohibits talking only yelling. The music is full of racial slurs and sexually explicit lyrics. Not appropriate for children and I didn’t
