Kona Village is a beautiful property and we had a wonderful and relaxing time. Generations of my family have been going there since the 1970s and it's retained a special charm. The service and room quality were excellent and we appreciated that they were accommodating with a late checkout. However the prices for food are exorbitant. At over $1,200/night for the lowest tier room, that price does not include breakfast. Once at breakfast, a juice at 1/2 the normal size costs $12, an egg dish at $35 has an omelette and three potatoes and won't fill you up. You can expect to easily spend $50-80 per person at breakfast. A 12 oz cappuccino is $11. Plain steamed rice is $10. A hummus appetizer is $30 - all of these prices without tip. We went to their communal dinner and as vegetarians and pregnant I could not drink, so we spent $463 on dinner for two people that was basically grilled corn, vegetables, and dessert and were still hungry - we could have spent this amount to go out to a Michelin star meal elsewhere. You need to budget at least $200 - 500 per day in incremental charges if you plan to eat at the resort. A couples massage for one hour is $650 without tip. Overall a beautiful property and still a great experience but the way the insane prices don't feel like they embody hospitality.

Hotel is very nice with many swimpools and beach. But service is not that great and hotel breakfast is expensive and not good. I paid so much for each day and you don’t get too much service. If you book early I think it’s still worth it to stay this hotel. Location is very good, near by have markets and shop is very unique. I would like to thank you Ctrip for all you hard work make our holiday very special.

When I opened the door, it felt like a Chinese hotel from more than a decade ago. I was shocked by the light switch button. However, the room was quite large. I didn't expect that there was no hair dryer. The hotel facilities are quite good. You can play with dolphins at your own expense. There is also an inner bay where you can snorkel and see turtles. The speed of the hotel train is not as fast as walking. Sky-high parking fees, coupled with the extremely slow service. A rove beetle came into the room and called the front desk for 20 minutes before it came. It feels suitable for traveling with children. If you are traveling as a couple, you can actually choose other rooms nearby with newer and better facilities.

I was surprised at how big the resort hotel was. There was a tram, but no boats. The service to make inquiries in Japanese ended in March. The shuttle bus to the nearby shopping mall was $5 one way, so I walked there (just over 20 minutes). The room was spacious, but the water flow in the bathtub was not so good. From the room, you could see the golf course and the sea. The grounds are large, so I got up early in the morning and took a walk, which felt great. The best spots to see the sunset were written on the map of the grounds, so I was able to see a really beautiful sunset. There were sea turtles and dolphins, and a fun pool, so I had a wonderful time.

The room was smaller than expected. The front desk said that the area shown online was plus the area of the balcony. The children's club can only be hosted if you are 5 years old or above. The activity room is not as big as the Four Seasons. There are many stones on the beach, which is not delicate and cannot be stepped on. However, the view from the hotel is still very beautiful and feels richer than the scenery in the Four Seasons. Kalei from Concierge was very considerate and helped us contact the car rental agency and drove the car directly to the hotel. Generally speaking

The hotel is beautiful, but the front desk service is poor. Three hours were wasted at check-in, and there was only one person in the queue when checking out, and a lady's bill was miscalculated. The delay was more than half an hour, and the guests can only wait. It is incredible that there is only one person at the front desk. How can such a service match the hotel brand and beauty? Because I was in a hurry, I had to pay my room card before leaving, the bill was not settled, and my deposit and compensation were not paid. I do not know how to solve the problem later?

GGuest User 2022.06.27
A review of the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort: My family and I recently completed a vacation stay at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort. Overall, the resort is wonderful with a few rough edges. The resort is located on the west side of the Big Island, about 30 miles north of the airport -- with ”island traffic” plan on 30-45 minutes if you need to travel down into Kona. This resort takes full advantage of its beach location, which is consistently rated one of world's best. Hapuna Beach is an amazing long crescent-shaped beach great for swimming and snorkeling (near the coral at the edges of the beach. We saw turtles, octopus, and a wide variety of fish). The beach is perfect for families with children, though the water can get a little rough if the trade winds are blowing. Check-in was smooth and efficient. My elite membership was recognized as well as my birthday during our visit. We were offered points of elite breakfast credit, which included continental breakfast for two in Ikena Landing. Upon arriving to our room, we were greeted with a lovely bottle of wine and assorted goodies for our celebration. Our room was clean and well-appointed. We were staying on a points redemption, so no SNA option. We had a ”partial” ocean view room but I suspect we were given an ocean view room because we had a wonderful view of the ocean and resort grounds. According to front desk personnel, the resort did have a handful of ”lanai” rooms near the ground level with no view whatsoever, including a small number of no-view suites. We had a spacious bathroom with shower and tub; also a wonderful lanai with a table & chairs along with a comfortable outdoor couch perfect for lounging in the evening with a beverage while watching the sunset. All service requests through the chat function were promptly met and taken care of throughout our visit. Note, this resort also had a free guest laundry facility with detergent and other supplies -- perfect if you pack light or just want to clean off your swimsuits before you head home. Our main gripe relates to the food & beverage offerings and service. The resort's dinner restaurant, Meridia, takes full advantage of the resort views and location. Unfortunately, that's about all it has going for it. For the price point, the food was marginal and service was lacking. For a similar price point, I'd suggest heading up-country to Merriman's for terrific farm-to-table food and great service. As I mentioned, we received elite continental breakfast for two at Ikena Landing, each morning. Upgrade to the full buffet was offered for an additional $25 per person. Prices were steep for breakfast. Servers were friendly but took a while to get food out at times. I would recommend, particularly families working within a budget, to try Piko Coffee Bar. Piko has much better coffee options throughout the day and also offers a variety of hot/cold grab-and-go options (at breakfast, eggs, hash browns and breakfast meats, pas

GGuest UserI was nervous to stay here given the reviews and with the current construction I wouldn't have been happy to pay full price (not because of noise/dust, but because the restaurants/spa/bars/etc. are not all up and running!) but I got a nice 30% off deal through the Outrigger website and was happy with what we paid. I chose the oceanfront room knowing I'd get a good view (too many oceanview hotels only offer a glimpse of the water) but never imagined the incredible surprise we got - our room faced directly out to where the lights shine for the manta rays each night so it was like we had our our private manta observation deck! It was unreal! The room was comfy, clean and spacious; the staff were super friendly and helped quickly when our balcony was flooded after a storm, and we loved the morning yoga, mac nut lattes at holoholo market, and the easy self parking (it's really not a long walk). The beach pool was closed for renos but we enjoyed the courtyard pool very much, and the grounds were stunning to walk around in the morning an evening - keep a lookout for goats on the rocks! We were also able to walk to and from Keauhou Bay marina for our night snorkle with the mantas which was super convenient. KTA superstore and L&L BBQ are just down the road for quick eats and the location was perfect for visiting K'au, Kona coffee farms and to get to the airport. Can't wait to stay again when the renovations are complete!

The kitchen was well serviced with clean nice dishes. The washer/dryer was a fabulous feature we used!! The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Parking was including and easy to find. Condo was close to Kona Inn shopping and the bypass road used for Hwy 11. Would definitely recommend staying there!!! GGuest UserHilton brand used to be my hotel of choice. After some very disappointing stays toward the end of Covid I decided I was switching to anything but Hilton. I should have stuck with my commitment. As the previous poster said our room ($350) was very small. The corridors were old and dingy. When I walked into the room I went to look out the window and there was a view of a rooftop, a large dumpster of trash and a delapidated building with graffiti. In fact there are several abandoned buildings surrounding the property so the area isn’t great. They still don’t have daily housekeeping. I have been in Hawaii for 10-days now and my other hotels all had daily cleaning and it was excellent. There is no excuse for Hilton to not being this service back. That is a key reason people like to stay at hotels vs VRBOs. Hilton is putting the savings in their own pocket as their rates haven’t been adjust to reflect the significant reduction in service. Luckily we are only staying one night. The checkin was nice and the agent was friendly. The grounds (toward the water) were nice. I also agree with the other poster as I question why a resort fee at this property. If you get an ocean view room and don’t mind the lack of maid service then you should be ok. Definitely don’t stay in the odd numbered rooms in the ancillary building or you will view the ghetto.

GGuest UserThe hotel is in a good location, just around the corner is the beach, and there is a great sea view restaurant. The view inside the hotel is shown in the first picture, which is beyond imagination. How about the room? The air conditioner is an old-fashioned window air conditioner, blowing directly at the head of the bed, which is very noisy. The bathroom is also relatively old, and the water pressure and water temperature are relatively stable. The bedding is quite comfortable. Hilo to me is an agreeably funky place and this accommodation is perfectly in line with that impression. It is set a bit away from the city's downtown, such as it is, in a residential area. The property itself must have once been a residence itself, and is divided into two parts, the original lodge and an annex across the street. We stayed our one night in the annex in a double room, which was equipped with its own bathroom, a microwave and lots of storage space, but no television--for that you had to access a common area, which also had a small kitchen. Definitely the place must have once been a house. The front desk is not open all hours and you have to time your arrival to accommodate this, but the staff member we met was extremely friendly and helpful. Arnott's also runs tours to various parts of the island that leave from the premises, one of which (up Mauna Kea to the observatories) we'd accessed several years prior. All in all Arnott's would probably not be your cup of tea if your idea of a Big Island vacation is the glamorous resorts on the Kona side, but for us the laid-back, peaceful atmosphere was perfect.
