Mountbatten Bungalow- Thema Collection

Very nice hotel with great gardens. The room was huge and so was the king bed , big old fashioned bath came in handy after a long day. The staff were exceptional, excellent hospitality. The garden area was a great spot to have an early morning breakfast.

We had a lovely stay for 2 nights; the rooms were spacious and charming. However, we stayed in the bungalows, and the wi-fi was a bit hit-and-miss. We enjoyed watching the local monkeys from the balcony do their thing. The service was terrific. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay, very peaceful and relaxing. We were given the option of two rooms either in the house or a wooden bungalow. We opted for the bungalow as we were in the forest and could watch out at all the wildlife. The morning walk and bird watching was great to be able to walk around and explore in nature. All of the staff have been extremely friendly and welcoming and have made our stay here very special. The chefs are also brilliant, the food is amazing and it was great to see the time and ingredients into how different traditional Sri Lankan dishes are made. We would happily return, thank you!

There were stunning views, especially from the infinity pool and picturesque gardens that surrounded the Mountbatten lodge but that for us, was where the positives of our stay ended. The hotel itself was beautifully constructed from the outside, but the rooms inside were dated as you could expect, within the main lodge. This place felt more like an old B&B, the door to our room was on the main corridor - so whenever people walked passed we heard everything - from the staff chatting to kids running up and down the hall shouting which was really off putting - especially at night (the bed was directly the other side of the door). The bathroom also felt unconsidered, it was twice the size of the bedroom but worn down around the edges, nowhere to store any toiletries - no shelves, cupboards to put a toothbrush for the stay so we had to put bags on the floor. Our fridge didn't work so we couldn't keep any water cold, and the bed was unsteady and mosquito nets torn and holey. It was a shame that our main staff member who dealt with us was the least friendly we had experienced in our whole trip. The team appeared to be quite frantic and panicky, finding it hard to prioritise and accommodate the people they had staying. We were suppose to have a cooking lesson which we booked for a certain time, but still were told to wait 15 mins in our room whilst they set up - an hour later they were ready for us. The "Sri Lankan cooking lesson" consisted of us watching the chef cut an onion and put some spices in a pan. We spent longer waiting then in the kitchen, which with all the flies around was probably a good thing! This experience didn't really marry up to the rest of the places we were staying in Sri Lanka, although the views and setting was absolutely beautiful!

We recently stayed at Mountbatten in Kandy, which is situated in a calm and quite surrounding and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. We selected a beautiful wooden chalet and it was spacious, clean, and well-appointed. The view from my window was stunning, adding to the overall ambiance. Dining had a good selection of fresh, delicious options, and the dinner menu was equally impressive. We highly recommend Hotel Mountbatten for anyone who likes to stay in calm and green atmosphere. The combination of excellent service, luxurious accommodations, and prime location made our stay memorable. We look forward to returning on our next visit too.

We spent a couple of days at the Mountbatten Bungalow which is nestled in a tranquil environment. The property is well-maintained and luxurious giving the perfect hideaway to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The staff is very attentive and keen to make our stay unforgettable. The food is very flavorful and neatly presented. So are the garden chalets we spent the nights at which provided ample relaxation. I would highly recommend staying with Mountbatten Bungalow to recharge your batteries.

Having been spoilt in my previous two stays, the Mountbatten Bungalow felt a little worn. Whilst we appreciated the history and location, in my opinion the rooms felt tired and in need of some love; our fridge didn't work and the taps weren't entirely fixed to their basins. The room proportions were bizarre - the bathroom was massive and much bigger than the bedroom - but there was no shelves or storage space in the bathroom to put any basic toiletries The staff were friendly but a little neglectful of our preferences (given it was the off season and they were not even at quarter capacity) - we only stayed two nights and we would have struggled to stay any additional nights, we constantly needed to remind the staff that we were vegetarian after being presented a set menu which offered no vegetarian options. The location with the infinity pool are the best features, the food was average in comparison to what we had received elsewhere.
