The bed was comfy. The view was amazing. The staff were very friendly. The location is very close to downtown but up a hill so very very quiet. The food is good, EXCEPT the mutton biryani. Don't order the Mutton Biryani it was just tough fatty meat that you couldn't chew unless you want to feel like you're chewing on an old piece of gum.

What a view during morning

The hotel is a bit high, and I was tired walking up after work. There is a primary school next to it, and it was interesting to see students going to school in the morning. I was woken up by the chirping of birds in the morning…

The hotel made a good deal first: the hotel's scenery is unparalleled, and you can overlook Kandy from the roof (Pictures 1 & 2); the breakfast is also pretty good, one set per person, I chose Sri Lanka (Picture 3) Next, there is a very serious problem: First of all, when making a reservation, please read clearly that "accommodating 1 person". If there is a second person after arriving at the hotel, 20USD will be charged. Secondly, the reception in the lobby was not very friendly to Chinese people. He walked up to us with a smile and asked, "Are you Japanese?" We said, "No, we are Chinese." Then he turned around and left... Furthermore, the room is not very clean, look at the sheets in picture 4 Most importantly, if you are sensitive to musty smells, don’t order! ! ! The room smelled musty as soon as it was opened, as you can tell by looking at the sofa in Figure 5 below; after reporting it to the front desk, their solution was to spray air freshener...

The hotel is clean and not bad. You need to prepare your own slippers and toothbrush and toothpaste. The service is also good.

Stayed in this hotel for 7 days and couldnt fault it staff are amazing they really make u feel special food is unreal so tasty and fresh different options evey night fresh fruit and chocolates delivered every day to your room.But I must say a massive thank you to Hilary who was amazing and really made are stay just fabulous 100% 5 star to all the staff, will deffo return and I highly recommend anyone to this hotel if looking to stay in Kandy

We stayed here for 2 nights on our 8-day tour of Sri Lanka for our honeymoon. On arrival, the staff were friendly and the interiors of the hotel is breathtaking. We were able to check in early, and had a beautiful room with a great view. They restocked our water when we asked for it and we had room service which was also good. The switch has tripped when we arrived and someone came immediately to sort this problem. Nothing was too much for the staff. The only reason we gave 4 stars is simply because we felt some of the cleanliness could be improved; there were many stained chairs in the restaurant upstairs and they moved a lot when sat on them. The bathroom tiles were also not cleaned after 1 of our nights and we noticed the bath hadn’t been cleaned or our towels replenished. We went up to the roof terrace and felt that this was also quite outdated and needed some renovations and changes in the furniture. It is a lovely space but all seems quite old. The chefs were accommodating when asked for extra support to know which foods to avoid to cater to my severe nut & coconut allergy. They were very good with this. Overall we had a great stay!

We had our wedding at The Grand Kandyan Hotel on 12th of June and it was an unforgettable experience. The venue was stunning, with elegant decor and breathtaking views that made our special day even more magical. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. A special mention goes to Michelle, who was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout the planning process and the event itself. Her professionalism and warmth made us feel at ease, and she ensured that every detail was taken care of. The catering was exquisite, with a wide variety of delicious dishes that all our guests enjoyed. I must thank General Manager Mr. Thusith Samaraweera for upgrading the room to a honeymoon suite and it was spacious, clean, and luxurious, providing a comfortable stay for us. We couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate our wedding. Thank you to The Grand Kandyan Hotel and its wonderful staff for making our day truly memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a beautiful and well-organized wedding venue.

We were first put in a really noisy room - they had a door open to a staff area and they were cleaning things from the restaurant until late at night. There was plates clattering until after 11pm. We also had children running around in the corridor outside our room until 11:30pm. I called reception to ask them to be quiet. Eventually I got to sleep but didn’t get much. They never followed up with us about the noise complaint we made. Our driver came to the desk and requested that we switch rooms and translated for us. They moved us rooms and we were put in a corridor that absolutely stank. There were workmen cleaning the mouldy walls - the room and the corridor smelt musty and mouldy. The room wasn’t up to scratch and was unclean in places. I asked about gluten free food at the restaurant and there was GF options, but we did not enjoy the food that was available at breakfast or dinner.

We went to the Grand Kandian hotel for the wedding of one of our relatives. It is an interesting place with a beautiful view. excellent service, luxurious feel, and stunning views. Friendly, attentive, and professional staff are consistently. Opulent atmosphere: The hotel boasts a luxurious feel with well-maintained interiors and clean rooms.the hotel have a nice rooftop pool with a view we enjoyed lots the fitness center, and the on-site spa also very nice. The location overlooking Kandy City and the mountains is a major highlight. Spacious rooms: Many reviewers find the rooms to be large and comfortable. All the food and desserts that were provided to us that day were delicious. Overall, The Grand Kandyan seems like a great choice for travelers looking for a luxurious and relaxing stay in Kandy,especially if you value service and a beautiful view. If modern amenities in your room are a big priority, you might want to consider elsewhere.

One of the best place ever visited in my life ! I took presidential sweet and lived as a president with my family .. Very very very nice stay over there. And very nice weather .. and facilities :) Amazing people specially reception ( i forget her name animishika sth like that ) but all of them were very nice and lovely ❤️

One of the best hotels I have ever been to the rooms were very clean the food is amazing the service was very good and the hotel and the gym was very clean have good machines and everything and the view from the hotel is very beautiful overall one of the best hotels I've ever been to love it

Experienced the best hospitality service ever. Great service aazing food for the price great variety and everything was perfect. Lved the desert varity carrot halwa was my ost fav. Dishes are on spot clean . They always refill food and maintaining standards.

It is a very beautiful hotel with a palace. The rooms are very nice and clean. The staffs are very friendly and accommodating. The best part here is the variety in the breakfast and dinner spread. The food is good and surprising to see so many options in Indian Vegetarian and even a live dosa counter.
