We walked from the Domain Camp ground and ordered off the menu. Our meals were great pub meals. The service from the staff was excellent. This hotel has a bar, restaurant and accommodation. It was 8 ball club night. Very entertaining. We highly recommend the village hotel for a night out in Karamea.

We had an awesome evening here. We only popped in for a drink but ended up staying for a delicious dinner followed by dessert and several rounds of pool. The staff were very hospitable and friendly, the food was sensational. We ordered the whitebait fritter (amazing), nachos, beef burger plus the steak meal. All were generous servings and delicious. The place has lots of character and soul. The locals and other travellers were friendly too. It was a lovely place to dine and spend an evening. Would highly recommend

What a great place to stay, beautiful ole well maintained country hotel. Great service, amazing food and facilities, the showers are glorious after being on the road. Generous parking at rear and pet friendly. Thanks a bunch. Recommended.

Stayed here mid-February 2023 for 3 nights, mainly to be close to the Heaphy Track and had a wonderful time. Good old fashion service with a smile, cold beer - great food at the hotel and a great town. We were particularly concerned about Covid due to health issues - so we were wearing masks, sitting outside most of the time. The owners/staff were very respectful and understanding and helpful in the restaurant / bar. We had the fixed price Valentines Day dinner and it was really really good. In Karamea town, Vinnies Café served awesome breakfast and the best strong coffee. There is also a hairdresser next to Vinnies and she offers some beauty treatments as well.

Nice to have a pet friendly place, but the cockroach and the inability to lock our room was off putting. It’s a beautiful area and great places to go walking with the dog. Wifi was intermittent. Bedding was old and in poor repair. But the place has potential.

Choose to stay at the Hotel after a day of exploring the greater area. Checked in and off to our room ... very old, basic and tired. The sheets on the beds were so thin - been a long time since they have been replaced, the pillow was so thin it was really a waste of time having it & no extra pillows. A heavy old bedspread on the bed. The chairs were so uncomfortable, dirty and stained - not nice. The TV was so high up on the wall and was really old - not a flat-screen. The heater/ac was also unusable as it was so high up on the wall you couldn't see the controls to see what settings you had it on. No toiletries at all - not even a small bar of soap - again the towels were well past their use-by date. No WIFI in the room - had to go to the bar if you wanted WIFI. The accommodation needs a serious overhaul - expensive for very little. We ate at the bar and had a lovely meal ... the steak was well cooked and enjoyable. The beer was cold and much needed after a day of exploring

Arrived at 2pm to find out doors were locked till 3pm so had to wait for checkin. Lady was welcoming and showed us to our room. The room was very tired and needed updating. 1970s box tv on the wall so high up almost got a kink in my neck. The roof paint was peeling off and there were spiders in most corners. Furniture very old and stained. Spiderwebs around windows. Latch on bathroom window so corroded couldn't close.. Couldn't regulate water in shower. The shhets on the bed were thin and towels could be updated. The motel block was back off the road so was very quiet. Give it a good clean and coat of paint and it would be great. Had dinner at restaurant. Fantastic meal, huge roast. Staff were so pleasant and couldn't falter. Great atmosphere.

Very excited to go and have a beer at the hotel after walking the heaphy. We arrived and were warmly greeted, by very friendly staff. There was a great selection of meals and decided on a steak. It was delicious and came with a tasty salad on the side. We enjoyed sitting outside, would recommend:)
