One of the best places I’ve stayed

We have stayed at the Sheen Falls Hotel on a number of occasions but we were recently disappointed to encounter poor customer service. On a three night stay, we were allocated to a room we should never have been given. The relocation process was very poor on this occasion from the front desk. Mistakes are made but it is how they are dealt with that shows the quality of service which wasn’t there for a 5 star hotel. On a positive note, the food experience in the Falls restaurant was excellent but in our opinion, the leisure complex is in need of renovation.

This was our first visit to Sheen Falls. We couldn’t fault anything! After a long drive we received a lovely greeting and welcome at check in. We were shown to our room and informed we had been upgraded to a suite.Such a lovely surprise. It was really lovely with everything we could need, fridge stocked with apple juice milk water.Tea and coffee making facilities The bed and pillows so comfortable and fluffy towels in the bathroom which also had Elemis toiletries. Relaxing bar, library.quiet sitting room …..we used them all. There is a nice patio overlooking the falls and well tended grounds for a stroll. Breakfast was good with hot and cold choices .We ate in the brasserie which had a small menu but was good. The staff throughout the hotel are friendly fun and efficient. There is a golf course about 20 minutes away where we had lunch …..the views are amazing…and friendly staff here too. We highly recommend Sheen Falls and hope to return

Just to say that the front office manager asked to see me after the bill had been paid and then proceeded to offer a discount on the next stay here, do not waste your money on this hotel, there are far better 5 star hotels in this country that have better service and staff. When we first arrived we were shown to our room by a receptionist who admitted that she was not fully familiar with the layout of the hotel so she was unsure of where we were going and proceeded to a different room and then proceeded to our own room. There was no issues with the room when we arrived until we wanted to make a cup of coffee and realised that there was only a kettle and teabags in the room(no coffee making facilities). We decided to go to the bar after arrival to sample the Guinness here, this was by far the worst pint of Guinness i have ever seen poured and tasted, the staff need training in this area. The Guinness was like black water, pulled by untrained staff who had no interest in the drink they were pouring. We sent back the 2 pints and were offered another drink so we both agreed on birra moretti as there were limited options. The beer was sent back to us in normal plain pint glasses, not the birra moretti glasses and when we received them they were flat so we left them on table and left. We then headed to the pool area to have a dip and i can honestly say i was horrified with the dirt and the cobwebs on the conservatory windows above the pool, the jacuzzi did not work properly also. We left after half an hour and as we were leaving the spa area the two receptionists were so busy having their own conversation that they did not acknowledge us when we were leaving(we were unsure if we had to sign out or what was the procedure). Also the staff seemed to be badly trained as we heard three members of staff earlier that afternoon in the arch beside the main entrance giving out loudly about work related issues in earshot of the guests. This is the first hotel i have stayed in that i felt i was ripped off. The location merits a 5 star but the staff and the service overpromises but underdelivers on every level. This is like a 5 star hotel run with 2 star staff and service. The windows throughout the building need to be cleaned. I have to say that the assistant manager Marcio was very gracious towards us and seemed surprised and shocked. He did send a bottle to the room as it was my birthday so i appreciated that gesture but we are not wine drinkers.

This is a really lovely hotel set in it's own beautiful grounds. The rooms and public areas are delightful and well maintained. The view of the small 'falls' in the river from the bar area and the main dining area is rather special and all adds to the ambiance. The pool and spa facilities are also excellent. You could easily retreat here and avoid the world for a few days!

Everything was perfect, the hotel, the staff, the food and the area around the hotel. What an amazing setting. Not to room, the views, and friendly welcome and professionalism from all people working there. It is still our favourite hotel in Ireland.

This beautiful hotel is a bit out of the way, but well worth the drive. The country side is gorgeous and the setting for the hotel idyllic. The lodge is right on the banks of a river which is quite close to the ocean. It rained (surprise, it's Ireland) while we were there and the gentle river turned into raging rapids which was amazing to see. We had a river view and it was great to watch the river transform. The facility is quite luxurious and while there, you feel as if you're in a very high end hotel. The staff, across the board, did a wonderful job. We had breakfast there each morning which was more than we could eat and dinner there one night which was also quite good. The grounds are spread out, so you don't feel confined to a single space. There's a nice covered pool area where we hung out for a bit as well as steam, sauna, and hot tub (which we used). We visited the same weekend they have their annual bike race around Beara Peninsula which meant 6000 (yes, 6000) bicyclists came to the small town for a ride. The town was ALIVE with people which made it fun to eat and drink around so much positive energy. We felt bad when the day of the ride was met with torrential rains... Hotel was a good home-port for long and fun drives around the country side and ocean side areas. There are some well-known "rings" you can drive around to see all sorts of Irish living. Downside, these rings are also heavily populated with tour busses who not only have "right of way" on the road (meaning, you need to get out of their way when the road is too narrow for you both), but when you're behind one, you're stuck behind them for a long while. If you want to get into the neighboring town, the Lodge has a shuttle service (one of the guys up front drives you in a car) into town, you call them when you want to get picked up again. This is because there's very little parking in town and it lets you drink all you want and not worry about narrow roads, fast drivers, busses all after a few Guinnesses!! Great location, great service and a lot of fun.

The Sheen Falls Lodge was a real treat! It advertises as 5 star hotel, we experienced it as 5 star. From the moment we arrived there was somebody there to take our luggage, check- in was smooth and professional. Our room, straight overlooking the Falls was wonderful. The service we experienced during our stay was super. There was a slight issue with the heating, rang reception, it was sorted in 15 min, exactly what you expect from a 5 star hotel. It is always a 2-way requirement. The hotel, setting etc has to be great, and then the staff has to be great. One does not work without the other. During our stay, we experienced a great team at check-in, in the dining room, in the gardens. We could not fault it. We will be back. Thank you for making our wedding anniversary so wonderful.
