The Fenwick Hotel

Great experience. Got a great deal for DB&B. Really warm welcome from reception staff and bar/restaurant staff. Food was all freshly prepared and very tasty. Had dinner and breakfast and was very impressed. Staff are very happy, efficient and caring. Room very well maintained, with everything you could need. Would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone. Conveniently situated just off the A77 and around half an hour from Glasgow. Will definitely be back for another visit.

Lovely staff. Great food. Some nice decor. But it kind of looks like they've done half of a refurbishment at some point. Doors, carpets, windows and some of the furniture in the rooms looks like it came from the 70s. We had a family room. Cracked bath panel. Mould round the window.

Start with the positives, friendly staff & food was fabulous especially the haggis at breakfast. Now the room, room 9 was quite dark & dated. The handy man needs to get things sorted, curtains hanging, pictures missing & ill fitted, bleach stains on the carpet, rips on the headboard. Mould around the bath, hairdryer in bathroom very dusty. The mattress was brick hard and the pillows were very flat.

My son has a farm close by and I normally stay at the Kilmarnock Travel lodge but recently they have had some price hikes that prompted me to look elsewhere. My room number 23 was the smallest I have ever experienced, it would have been almost impossible for an adult couple to have shared the room in comfort. My first evening I had a confidential technical report to prepare for which I needed privacy, this I did in my room sat on the bed with my laptop. There was no room for a chair or any surface space for my lap top. The next evening I showered in what is the smallest cubicle imaginable with hardly enough water to wash my hair, again I had to finish my report on the bed. Breakfast buffet was adequate but only cold plates were available which resulted in eating cold food after about 5 minutes. Certainly not visiting again, I’ll stick with Travel Lodge.

Found ourselves in Fenwick and thought we could try the Hotel for Lunch. What an absolute disaster!!!!!. Restaurant NOT busy at all so got seated quickly asked what we would like to drink, waited for 28minutes NOTHING. We watched as the waitress, stood did nothing, sighed, did nothing for all that time, I’m surprised that this place is still open, Laziest staff I’ve seen in a long time. WE LEFT. Probably didn’t even notice we had gone.

Lovely comfortable bed, furniture and size of the room. Something to consider as the hotel is right next to busy M77, if you are unfortunate to be allocated a room next to the motorway, purchase ear plugs. Dinner service a little slow, we were a coach party. Great food, lovely staff.

Was really disappointed with this hotel booked a room for monday 16 july for a ground floor room as my partner has health issue They phoned me on sat to tell that they could not give me a ground floor room but offered us the first floor which i was not going to except as my partner is not good at climbing stairs but we decided to take it if he could manage the stairs after we got up to first floor we had a short walk to our room where we had to climb 3 more steps into our room we had the worst sleep ever it was to warm and a really small room with anybody with health issues not good next issue was the bar they ran out of pina colada so we could only have one service was terrible breakfast was not up to much and also our room the head board was falling of the wall reported this to reception she said she would let her manager know and she would phone me back im still waiting i will not go back there and stay in room 21 give it i wide berth really disappointed in service they just dont seem to care i thought it was going to be busy with the golf in troon it was not so why give us a sh xx roon and bad service

Very slow service, overpriced menu and underwhelming food, we went on Saturday 13th July as a party of 5 and there was only 4 tables in, service was extremely slow to say we were going to have a dessert but decided on the bill as was too slow. Felt the staff were very interested in the job and dining room was not being taken care of.

Just back from an overnight stay here. Warm friendly welcome from Gemma on reception, who was very helpful and ensured we had everything we needed. Enjoyed a few drinks in the garden area, as the weather was fab. Dinner was excellent - especially the butter chicken curry. Breakfast was good too. Service was great, staff were all really nice - and lovely to see Aileen, who we've met a number of times over the years - always smiling and welcoming. Overall we had a great stay and will be booking again soon!
