Hotels near Kamado Shrine, Kirishima

We decided to add on one night in Kagoshima prior to embarking on our second Yakushima trip. We did this specifically to try out Myoken Ishiharaso - while the ryokan is a relative unknown in foreign circles, the its prominence among Japanese folks as one of the top onsen and culinary ryokans prompted to extend our trip to try it out. We're definitely glad we did! First, the location - even though it's a mere 15 minutes drive from Kagoshima Airport, we felt like we were a world away; the ryokan is on the outskirts of Kirishima National Park, and is situated along the banks of the pretty and quaint Amori River. It's definitely a place you can easily visit from Tokyo or Osaka given its proximity to the airport, and feel like you're in an off-the-beaten-path destination. On the other hand, it's quite a ways away from Kagoshima City proper... if you want to see the sights (Sakurajima, Sengan-en, etc.) then you definitely should plan for a long day or spend two nights in the area. Note that check-in at Ishiharaso is 2PM, and you'll want to get there not much later than that, if you intend to enjoy everything that the ryokan has to offer. We stayed in a Suite in the” Ishikura” annex building called ”Kirara.” It's generously proportioned (85 square meters) and features a separate bedroom/living room/tatami room, and an open-air outdoor Onsen (natural hot springs) bath on the room's balcony. The added benefit of staying in an Ishikura room (and a handful of the top suites in the main building) is the fact that you can elect to have meals in your own room. We chose Kirara due to preferring a more comfortable (to us), Western-style accommodation - Kirara's bedroom has two double beds, and the living room is furnished with real sofas. Please note that in-room meals are served in the Tatami room. We really enjoyed the variety of Onsens that are available at Ishiharaso. The in-room open-air Onsen was awesome. It's different from many others in that it's full of Iron, and you can really smell it. Not a super pleasant aroma, but it's natural, and it's not overpowering in its aroma. What was impressive is the fact that it's not only is it of the ”kakenagashi” (24/7 constant free-flowing) variety, but the volume and force is unlike any other Onsen we've experienced. We could tell that they are close to the source, and there is an abundance of the hot springs water that Ishiharaso taps into. We also tried out several of the Onsens on the property, and they were all interesting in their own unique way. There is a pretty pathway along the river that leads guests to the main ”Daiyokujo” (segregated communal bath) that is large and indoors in a separate building that also contains a lounge/cafe. In addition, there are several outdoor Onsens scattered througout the river banks, including a footbath, a mixed-gender bath, and two private rental baths for couples/families/friends. Sakura Sakura Onsen is a hotel located in Kirishima Taguchi, Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. It is characterized by natural mud hot springs. On November 14, 2021, I visited Kirishima Jingu shrine on this day. I drove from there and came to Sakura Sakura Onsen. The parking lot is very large. Arrived at the main building to stay this day. The interior feels like this. Check-in is done at the mother shop and moves here. The room is on the second floor, but there is no elevator (sweat;) I have a lot of luggage 々, because of the new corona virus, the attendant does not help, so it is difficult for the elderly. Stayed in room 213 on this day. It is a Japanese room with 8 tatami mats. The view from the window is like this. The facilities are refrigerator and hot water heater. TV and closet. Washroom. Toilet is hot water toilet seat. I came into the hot spring immediately. This place was characterized by natural mud hot springs and there was a mud pack. It became more beautiful (laughs). Going to the dinner hall. It is quite troublesome that hot springs and dinner venues have to go to their mother's house. It seems hard to rain or cold winter days. The light up is beautiful. Arrived at the dinner hall. It is a pot dish. It is said that it is a pig shabu. Chicken tick. It seems to be a black pig. Other sashimi came. Of course, beer was also a tight fruit. The next morning, I moved to my mother's house again. I went to the breakfast hall. It's cold on this day. After all, I get breakfast in the same place as dinner. A system that can choose natto in the form of a Viking. Is this a little higher than 13,000 yen? I checked out and drove ahead.

It was nice to be able to see the hot spring smoke coming out of the window of the guest room. At the restaurant for dinner, we were shown to seats next to the window. I ate an Italian course meal while looking at the blue pool in front of me and the rising smoke of the hot spring beyond, feeling like I was in a resort hotel somewhere overseas. The open-air bath in the guest room is not a Japanese-style bath, but rather a bathtub with no hot water in it, which you turn on and fill with hot water. The large public bath is larger than this bath and has a spectacular view, so we recommend it.

I stayed with my elderly father. I didn't think there were many staff, but they put my luggage in the room and it was helpful. The room was large enough with a twin bed and a Japanese-style room with more than 10 tatami mats with a board. I can't deny the oldness around the water, but there was also a faucet for drinking water. Dinner is a restaurant with all-you-can-drink and has a menu of ､. The restaurant also has a high ceiling, chic and relaxing. The interior of shochu lined up on the wall was also nice, and many people took pictures. The contents of the meal were also served with a polite explanation. Especially good was that Sakurajima was seen from the large communal bath while the environment was in the mountains. I was able to realize again that I came to Kagoshima ～. The hot water was also soft and nice. If I could order one, I thought it would be okay to have citrus services in my room during the winter.

This hotel is situated on top of a hill. We were warmly greeted with help to move the luggage . Check in was fast and efficient . The room came with twin hard beds that we slept on so soundly . Room was big , wifi adequate. There was an attached bathroom though the bathtub was quite deep in . The highlight of the stay was the private onsen situated in the middle of the forest . What an amazing experience . We could not get the day slots so we were given the night slots at 730 pm . Do book early . The management will liase with you via email to book the onsens . Dinner was kaiseiki - lovely food with hotpot for vegetables . Breakfast was Japanese adequate . Overall a wonderful stay .

My sincerest gratitude to the professional service and helpfulness of the front desk staff in particular the Div. Manager, Mr. Atsuyoshi Kubota, who patiently search for available medical service during late hours for treating my wife's injury and also voluntarily arrange a staff to accompany us to the hospital. Ram Kumar, the accompanying staff, is instrumemental in our communication to the medical personnels and he is so kind to arrange late dinner for us at the hotel's discretion. They not only demonstrate the highest level of professionalism but also their genuine care of the well being of the customers. Once again, big big thanks to Mr. Kubota and his team of beautiful people. By the way, good breakfast and dinner, both in terms of the menu as well as service and venue.

I used it for a day trip bath. The hot springs are large and splendid. Sukayu Onsen Ryokan in Aomori is said to be a thousand-person bath, but it seems that more people can take a bath here. It is a huge hot spring similar to a gymnasium. There are various spring quality and you can enjoy it. There were various types of bathtubs. I didn't stay at the hotel, but it seems to be a hotel with a history. The garden was also magnificent. Kirishima Onsen is far from the railway station and the number of buses is not so large, so it is convenient to rent a car.

Hotel is quite a distance from the Kagoshima station. As there were 4 adults, we decided to cab upon arrival. With 4 luggage’s it was abit challenging, 2L and 2M luggage sizes. Thankfully our cab driver allowed one of us to hold the lighter luggage in our lap and took us all to the hotel. Leaving we encountered a very rude taxi driver outside the hotel. He bullied us and took one luggage and put into his trunk. Signalled another cab to come pick the rest of us and literally threw our second luggage to the other cab. Shocked us. He insisted only 2 passengers and one luggage and demanded ¥1,000 fare not meter. Very very bad experience with Japanese taxi driver outside Kagoshima Washington hotel. Hotel wise staff tried very hard to converse in English and very helpful as we arrived on New Year’s Eve. Room was small and clean.

Except for the compact room, everything else is satisfactory. The breakfast is very good, the hot spring is also good, there is a round-trip bus from the hotel to Kagoshima Central, the hotel departure time is 20 minutes and 50 minutes every hour, and the departure time from Kagoshima Central West Exit to the hotel is also 20 minutes and 50 minutes every hour. The shuttle bus starts at 6 am and ends at 10 pm. The hotel is worth experiencing!
