We decided to add on one night in Kagoshima prior to embarking on our second Yakushima trip. We did this specifically to try out Myoken Ishiharaso - while the ryokan is a relative unknown in foreign circles, the its prominence among Japanese folks as one of the top onsen and culinary ryokans prompted to extend our trip to try it out. We're definitely glad we did! First, the location - even though it's a mere 15 minutes drive from Kagoshima Airport, we felt like we were a world away; the ryokan is on the outskirts of Kirishima National Park, and is situated along the banks of the pretty and quaint Amori River. It's definitely a place you can easily visit from Tokyo or Osaka given its proximity to the airport, and feel like you're in an off-the-beaten-path destination. On the other hand, it's quite a ways away from Kagoshima City proper... if you want to see the sights (Sakurajima, Sengan-en, etc.) then you definitely should plan for a long day or spend two nights in the area. Note that check-in at Ishiharaso is 2PM, and you'll want to get there not much later than that, if you intend to enjoy everything that the ryokan has to offer. We stayed in a Suite in the” Ishikura” annex building called ”Kirara.” It's generously proportioned (85 square meters) and features a separate bedroom/living room/tatami room, and an open-air outdoor Onsen (natural hot springs) bath on the room's balcony. The added benefit of staying in an Ishikura room (and a handful of the top suites in the main building) is the fact that you can elect to have meals in your own room. We chose Kirara due to preferring a more comfortable (to us), Western-style accommodation - Kirara's bedroom has two double beds, and the living room is furnished with real sofas. Please note that in-room meals are served in the Tatami room. We really enjoyed the variety of Onsens that are available at Ishiharaso. The in-room open-air Onsen was awesome. It's different from many others in that it's full of Iron, and you can really smell it. Not a super pleasant aroma, but it's natural, and it's not overpowering in its aroma. What was impressive is the fact that it's not only is it of the ”kakenagashi” (24/7 constant free-flowing) variety, but the volume and force is unlike any other Onsen we've experienced. We could tell that they are close to the source, and there is an abundance of the hot springs water that Ishiharaso taps into. We also tried out several of the Onsens on the property, and they were all interesting in their own unique way. There is a pretty pathway along the river that leads guests to the main ”Daiyokujo” (segregated communal bath) that is large and indoors in a separate building that also contains a lounge/cafe. In addition, there are several outdoor Onsens scattered througout the river banks, including a footbath, a mixed-gender bath, and two private rental baths for couples/families/friends. Ishiharaso rents out bathing suits for women, which is (probably!) needed for the mixed-g

This hotel is situated on top of a hill. We were warmly greeted with help to move the luggage . Check in was fast and efficient . The room came with twin hard beds that we slept on so soundly . Room was big , wifi adequate. There was an attached bathroom though the bathtub was quite deep in . The highlight of the stay was the private onsen situated in the middle of the forest . What an amazing experience . We could not get the day slots so we were given the night slots at 730 pm . Do book early . The management will liase with you via email to book the onsens . Dinner was kaiseiki - lovely food with hotpot for vegetables . Breakfast was Japanese adequate . Overall a wonderful stay .

I stayed with my elderly father. I didn't think there were many staff, but they put my luggage in the room and it was helpful. The room was large enough with a twin bed and a Japanese-style room with more than 10 tatami mats with a board. I can't deny the oldness around the water, but there was also a faucet for drinking water. Dinner is a restaurant with all-you-can-drink and has a menu of 、. The restaurant also has a high ceiling, chic and relaxing. The interior of shochu lined up on the wall was also nice, and many people took pictures. The contents of the meal were also served with a polite explanation. Especially good was that Sakurajima was seen from the large communal bath while the environment was in the mountains. I was able to realize again that I came to Kagoshima ~. The hot water was also soft and nice. If I could order one, I thought it would be okay to have citrus services in my room during the winter.

It was nice to be able to see the hot spring smoke coming out of the window of the guest room. At the restaurant for dinner, we were shown to seats next to the window. I ate an Italian course meal while looking at the blue pool in front of me and the rising smoke of the hot spring beyond, feeling like I was in a resort hotel somewhere overseas. The open-air bath in the guest room is not a Japanese-style bath, but rather a bathtub with no hot water in it, which you turn on and fill with hot water. The large public bath is larger than this bath and has a spectacular view, so we recommend it.

My sincerest gratitude to the professional service and helpfulness of the front desk staff in particular the Div. Manager, Mr. Atsuyoshi Kubota, who patiently search for available medical service during late hours for treating my wife's injury and also voluntarily arrange a staff to accompany us to the hospital. Ram Kumar, the accompanying staff, is instrumemental in our communication to the medical personnels and he is so kind to arrange late dinner for us at the hotel's discretion. They not only demonstrate the highest level of professionalism but also their genuine care of the well being of the customers.
Once again, big big thanks to Mr. Kubota and his team of beautiful people.
By the way, good breakfast and dinner, both in terms of the menu as well as service and venue.

I used it for a day trip bath. The hot springs are large and splendid. Sukayu Onsen Ryokan in Aomori is said to be a thousand-person bath, but it seems that more people can take a bath here. It is a huge hot spring similar to a gymnasium. There are various spring quality and you can enjoy it. There were various types of bathtubs. I didn't stay at the hotel, but it seems to be a hotel with a history. The garden was also magnificent. Kirishima Onsen is far from the railway station and the number of buses is not so large, so it is convenient to rent a car.

Sakura Sakura Onsen is a hotel located in Kirishima Taguchi, Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. It is characterized by natural mud hot springs. On November 14, 2021, I visited Kirishima Jingu shrine on this day. I drove from there and came to Sakura Sakura Onsen. The parking lot is very large. Arrived at the main building to stay this day. The interior feels like this. Check-in is done at the mother shop and moves here. The room is on the second floor, but there is no elevator (sweat;) I have a lot of luggage 々, because of the new corona virus, the attendant does not help, so it is difficult for the elderly. Stayed in room 213 on this day. It is a Japanese room with 8 tatami mats. The view from the window is like this. The facilities are refrigerator and hot water heater. TV and closet. Washroom. Toilet is hot water toilet seat. I came into the hot spring immediately. This place was characterized by natural mud hot springs and there was a mud pack. It became more beautiful (laughs). Going to the dinner hall. It is quite troublesome that hot springs and dinner venues have to go to their mother's house. It seems hard to rain or cold winter days. The light up is beautiful. Arrived at the dinner hall. It is a pot dish. It is said that it is a pig shabu. Chicken tick. It seems to be a black pig. Other sashimi came. Of course, beer was also a tight fruit. The next morning, I moved to my mother's house again. I went to the breakfast hall. It's cold on this day. After all, I get breakfast in the same place as dinner. A system that can choose natto in the form of a Viking. Is this a little higher than 13,000 yen? I checked out and drove ahead.

Except for the compact room, everything else is satisfactory. The breakfast is very good, the hot spring is also good, there is a round-trip bus from the hotel to Kagoshima Central, the hotel departure time is 20 minutes and 50 minutes every hour, and the departure time from Kagoshima Central West Exit to the hotel is also 20 minutes and 50 minutes every hour. The shuttle bus starts at 6 am and ends at 10 pm. The hotel is worth experiencing!

It is a business hotel located in the downtown Tenmonkan in Minami Kyushu, but it was only called ”Rem”, and I was able to sleep well as rarely for me to sleep until I was woken up by the alarm clock. The city trams and buses are running on the road right in front of me, but I didn't care about the noise at all. 1 I had breakfast at the talis in the building because it was breakfast for the night, but it was quite well organized and substantial. I was able to choose from hot dog pancake toast.

KKA YUIt is a hot spring hotel composed of five independent houses. The privacy is high, the environment is quiet, the room is dusty, the room has hot springs, cold springs, rock baths, one berth and two foods, the food is beautifully arranged, and it is very delicious. There are English-speaking staff, the hotel staff and waiter are kind and courteous, it is worth staying
Kirishima Eternal Yado Isshin is located about an hour by car from the center of Kagoshima City and about 30 minutes from Kagoshima Airport. There are only 8 rooms, and we stayed in a standard room. There is an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and the open-air bath was especially pleasant. However, the only view from the open-air bath was the indoor garden, so I thought it would have been better if we could at least see the large pond of the inn. Dinner, one of the greatest pleasures, was fulfilling. Most of the nine course menus used ingredients from Kagoshima. The vegetables, fish, and meat produced in Kagoshima were all delicious. In particular, the sashimi assortment of fatty tuna, amberjack, and Kuroge Wagyu beef shabu-shabu were delicious and memorable. By the way, for drinks, I had 3 cups of Japanese sake ``Kokuryu Junmai Daiginjo in Fukui Prefecture''. Alcohol in Kagoshima is basically shochu made from sweet potatoes or brown sugar, so if you don't want to pair shochu with your food, you'll need to choose from about three types of sake or several types of wine. The person in charge of the service was a young woman. I wasn't able to speak or act like a seasoned proprietress, but I could tell that she was working very hard, and I was actually glad that she was fresh. Many of the dishes made with ingredients from Kagoshima were very delicious. Thank you for the meal.
GGuest UserI used it for the first time on a business trip. If you like hot spring ryokan, this Hanazura-san has a ”small guide” here and there in the hotel, and I liked the signboard lol. I hope you will continue to do your best. As you can see in the guide, the ryokan here can use the open-air and indoor baths for free if they are available. I was able to enter, and I was able to enjoy Yunohana. The room may feel a little dated, but I was able to rest on the fluffy futon. It wasn't cramped like a business hotel, and I was able to do my work at a large table without being affected by the Wifi speed. It seems that it is managed by a small number of people, so I can't help but ask that the inside of the hotel be well-cleaned, like a city hotel. It is also ventilated for virus countermeasures. I didn't have time to take all 4 baths, so I'd like to look forward to the rest at the next opportunity.
GGuest UserIt was great except for the meal
The meal feels like the smell is a little burning, whether the fried oil is too much.
Other dishes were normal.
The room used a private room away, but there was also an open-air bath and it was clean and spacious and the best
It was good to stay
I can ask for delivery, so next time I want to ask for delivery without asking for meals.
GGuest UserKagoshima Airport, the 13:40 3 bus departs on time, and arrives at Maruwei at 14:40 on time. The station is about 800 meters walk away. You can make an appointment to pick up the hotel in advance. The hotel is located on the bank of the valley stream, quiet and integrated with nature. The hotel mobile phone has no signal, only the lobby has WIFI, which makes people feel away from the world. When registering passport information, the uncle at the front desk brought welcome desserts and tea with salty basil. Hotel bathing beach, not only has a large bath, but also the open air wind for two people is limited to 30 minutes, the family pool is limited to 40 minutes, free but need to make an appointment in advance. The large bath space is large, separate men and women, each has an open air, the open air is sulfur springs and the sulfur smell is very heavy. A cloud of smoke spread, looking up at the starry sky. Our room balcony has a separate sulphur spring bubble tank, soaking in the morning and evening is very comfortable. The breakfast and dinner food is extremely rich, I call it ”October fullness.” The ingredients are fresh. The uncle at the front desk can speak a little English, we basically use pen strokes and write to complete communication. Because we only had two nights of accommodation, we went to visit the Wudao Shrine that day and the uncle at the front desk took us to the bus station very enthusiastically. The next day was arranged at Wudao Art Park. Because there was no bus, the front desk arranged for us to take a taxi, which was about 4200 yen one way. On the third day, the uncle of the hotel sent us to the bus station (there was a front desk reservation the night before to inform us of the departure time). Because Japanese buses are basically punctual, usually the time of delivery by the hotel is only about 3-5 minutes in advance. Very good hot spring experience, I really want to come again. Thank you, Give my parents and children such good memories!
SSUSAN BUENCAMINOThe hotel staff are warm and welcoming, the breakfast and dinner they serve are impressive and I personally think it is better than the hotel. The hotel has only five rooms, Shaodong has stayed in the United States, can speak fluent English, and the proprietress can also speak simple English. Everyone gossips homely, making people feel at home.
GGuest UserThe prefectural road from the airport was a mountain road with quite a few ups and downs. There was a lot of traffic, and honestly I thought it was far away. However, it was an accommodation that made me feel glad that I had come this far. The room was a two-room Japanese style room with a bed. There was also a garden and an open-air bath on the first floor. I could see the mountains of Kirishima and it was a soothing view. It was quiet and I didn't have to face other customers. As it is called a Japanese restaurant and inn, all the food was very delicious. As mentioned in other reviews, the miso-yaki large shrimp was so delicious that I wanted to eat more. All items are carefully crafted using local ingredients. Perhaps because the soup stock was good, the soy milk hotpot was rich and rich. It was quite a portion, but our family of four ate it all. Although it is quite far from Kanto, I would like to visit again to try this delicious food.
DdoumotokyoThe balance of the facilities and services of the inn and the price is good It was an inn. I think the family trip with a small child is the best inn. If there are 5 baths, there is nothing to say. The service of the staff was also very pleasant. Thank you for taking care of me. On the other hand, I like a large bath that I put in at any time. It may also be related to the source, but I don't like the bath to walk outside. This time it was difficult to use especially in the night due to bad weather. I evaluated the negative point of not having an elevator and not a shower toilet.
LLoveTravel804785Breakfast is very delicious. As others write, it is a great charm of this hotel. Home style breakfast full of handmade feeling. There are many items and I feel the gentle feeling of the staff. The charm of the hotel is still there. The staff is comfortable with a good sensitivity. Check-in is possible even at a late time of movement (car rental) on the final flight of the aircraft. Because of the friendly price, you can easily enter the local night before. The tavern near the hotel that I taught at the front desk is delicious and the price is reasonable. (after the final convenience) you can eat well even if you enter the store at a late time.
GGuest UserWe stayed for two consecutive nights as the night before and after climbing Kirishima. The reason for staying is that if you try to climb Kirishima by bus, you will have to take the first bus from Kokubun Station to Kirishima Onsen. The point was high that breakfast was available before the bus ride at 6:30. The hotel itself is behind the station opposite the ticket gate, but it is very convenient because there is a supermarket in front of you that is easy to use for shopping from the hotel. There is also an elevator on the bridge, so it will not be painful to move. Because it was used for consecutive nights, it was convenient because the clothes after the mountain climbing were washed and dryed in a free coin laundry. (Only detergent is sold separately) I rented a bicycle next to the front desk and moved to the nearby Hitoyama Onsen and soaked in the hot springs. Although this hotel has 3 floors, it is very rare as a business hotel and the rooms are provided on the 1 floor. Even more unusual was the indoor TV was a smart TV.
