Traveling alone, I booked a budget hotel close to Kyoto Train Station. This hotel was probably originally an apartment. There was a kitchen and washing machine in the small room (which was useless to me). The room was not well soundproofed, so it was noisy at night.
Except for the good location, I don't recommend it in other aspects.
