The room is rather spacious with bathroom equipped with a bidet and a small bath tub. There is AC, TV, but no fridge. There is wardrobe and safety box without a lock (not sure how it works). Rooms towards a yard have a balcony, but rooms towards the street has no balcony. The street is not really busy, but could be noisy sometimes. The walls do not have a good sound isolation, so ear plugs are recommended. The hotel has a very good roof-top terrace with chairs, sunbeds and a view. WiFi was stable and with a good speed. The staff at the reception is very friendly and speaks English. The cleaning service is also good. There is a breakfast available, but this is for an extra cost. The closest beach Praia da Batata is located 800m from the hotel. Meia Praia is in 1.5km on the other side of the river. The train station is located in 900m, the bus station is in 650 m. 1 km to the Lidl, the closest Pingo Doce is being re-innovated, another one in 1.3 km. Intermarche is in 1.3 km. The town market is just in 100m from the hotel. Excursion booths could be found along river bank and in Marina on the route to the train station. The are lots of restaurants nearby in the old town.

From the very beginning when we arrived at this Hotel 23rd September 2022 the lady on the Reception was very professional and welcoming. We arrived just after 12.00 hrs and the lady advised that our room may not be ready but she still made a telephone call to housekeeping. Unfortunately it was not ready but we were able to store our cases and go and explore. When we returned back the room was ready, the porter took our cases to the room and it was perfect, room 31 overlooking the pool, very clean, modern and well equipped for our needs. The following morning the breakfast was amazing and I mean amazing I have never seen a hotel accomodate every taste it was absolutely fantastic. I cannot comment on the restaurants available because we like to eat out to taste the culture of the area we are visiting. The pool area looked lovely but we are not pool people we like exploring but that is our choice. We did on return from our days out sit on our balcony which was spacious and had a lovely view of the pool. In the mornings we did see how the hotel pay attention to detail with the cleaners out cleaning the beds and pool area. We did have a drink the bar area one evening which was reasonably priced and it is a lovely area to relax. I would have no problem in recommending this hotel to my friends and family in fact we are looking to book again next September.

Please be careful with what kind of accommodation you book, I made the mistake of booking a “twin room” for my elderly parents, it was the most basic of rooms and the only outside space was a tiny triangle of patio at the front of the flat (see pics) my parents had to ask for seats so they could sit out there. Again this is my fault NOT the hotel but I thought I needed to add this in for people who might be thinking of booking the budget room. Cons - The restaurant - if you want to eat at the restaurant you won’t be able to see what’s available on the menu until you have been seated, which can lead to embarrassment if like myself you're allergic to onions and everything on the menu seemed to contain onion so I had to get up in front of everyone and explain to the staff why I was leaving! I asked if there was an alternative which there was but was told if I wanted this I had to pay, having already paid for half board accommodation I found this to be very unfair as it’s an allergy not a choice.! I would suggest that in future to save any embarrassment you would put up the evenings menu where people can make a choice before entering the restaurant. The room itself was very basic no kettle meaning no options to make yourself a drink when wanted. The shower screen was leaking, had someone come out to fix this twice but it was still leaking and so had to keep putting towels on floor. No shuttle bus from hotel to town/beach as advertised on their website. Apparently it finished at the end of their season which isn’t what it said when I booked the holiday and the hotel was fully booked so really can’t understand why it wasn’t running. As other people have stated in these comments the pool chairs were filthy there were some really awful ones full of black stuff!! Pros- A choice of 2 swimming pools, the complex as a whole was very nice like a little village. The reception staff were very helpful and polite.

A serene haven the minute you step into property from street, our junior suite was heavenly comfortable and spacious and clean. Free water every day and amazing breakfasts, peaceful location. Pools small but ideal for a cooling dip . One of if not best place we have ever stayed and amazingly good value too. Great location as well are happy to walk 20 mins into town, or 5 to near beach.

Lovely spot in Lagos.Been here a few times and now won't go anywhere else. Rooms are nice.Most have a kitchenette .Choice of views from the rooms. Pool is nice. Staff are nice. It's a great location by the Marina but only a short walk from town.So easy access to bars by Marina and restaurants in town.

Can't tell you how amazing this hotel is - we go to it every 6 months. I wouldn't go anywhere else now. Im ridiculously fussy and drive myself mad to be honest, I've always had issues with my childs health from he was little so we have always needed to bleach everywhere and travel with Dettol wipes and anti- mite plug ins and goodness what else but I have come to learn that i dont need to do this in this hotel, you could eat your dinner off the floor as we say in Belfast. We took my pops away this time with us because unbelievablyhe has never had a foreign holiday, and he's nearly 70 years old - he was blew away. Food is amazing - My son Jack has ADHD &Autism, and he is extremely fussy about his food, what it looks like, what it feels like, the textures, the colours. It's a nightmare, but he loves the grub at Vila Galé. There's never an issue. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, pool bar, Alá Carté restaurant, ”The Masafina”. There is so much to choose from. My daughter Annie loves the food too, she's usually eats like a mouse but eats like a horse when we stay here, haha. There's nothing better for a parent in my humble opinion, to see your children sitting down to lovely big plates of healthy food from all different continents. There's a spa, 3 different steam rooms, massage rooms, yoga room, a big Gym, jacuzzi, large heated indoor pool, tennis courts, golf course, splash pool Park especially for the children(and big kids ie: adults haha), volleyball pitch, football pitch, table tennis, adventure park, big trampoline (which is really good fun), fruit tree orchards, herb gardens, pool tables, darts tables. There's things I will be leaving out because they weren't as important to us. This hotel works hard for conservation, they grow their own fruit. There's olive trees everywhere all over the hotel grounds too. The grounds that surround the hotel span a couple of miles- it's a beautiful walk. Obviously they have an outdoor pool too, but you see it in the brochures and yes, it really does look that stunning. I should probably mention that the pool bar don't just do ”run of the mill” food- we are all vegetarians so we always get stuck with things that way. They do the most gorgeous veggie wraps, salads, veg burgers etc. The pool bar menu is stunning. The ice cream is Carté Ďor and they have an amazing sugar free range as a family member is a type 1 diabetic, which has led us all not to take sugary drinks. The public toilets are always in immaculate condition, always spotless, shining, soap, toilet roll. No problems there. Rooms are lovely too. Housemaid are amazing and do an amazing job. The restaurant staff are amazing. The hotel staff at reception are great too. I hope this review helps, I highly recommend the Vila Galé Lagos, Preia Meia, Portugal. Its expensive in some peoples opinion but- to me I always believe you get what you pay for and if my children are looked after and happy, that's all I want. I'm 100% happy. We are regular visitors to lovely Praia da Luz. This was the first time at this hotel and we were very happy with our stay. We had premium sea view room with lovely views over the pool and out to sea. Room was large and plenty of storage space, the best we’ve had for a long time. Fridge worked well, as did the air con. Free safe and pool towels. Comfortable bed. Room cleaned to good standard. Large and fluffy bath towels. On the minus side- The safe was quite small, but just about managed to fit in our iPads. It locked with a key as opposed to digital locking, and the room key was rather cumbersome too. Didn’t like the plastic shower curtain. Breakfast was fine. Not a huge selection, but adequate. The bread rolls and the cakes were delicious. Great pool area, never a problem getting a sun bed at any time of day. Hotel Location very quiet and peaceful, but it was a steep climb up from the restaurants, shops and beach (bearing in mind we’re in our 70’s with bad knees). But that wouldn’t put us off staying there again. There is a bus stop outside hotel, but out of season the buses stop quite early.

This place was pretty perfect for us! It had everything you need and plenty more too but without being unwelcoming or unfriendly. The staff were so lovely and seemed pleased to help whenever we asked anything of them. The room we stayed in was large, lovely, beautifully clean and provided all we could need as well as looking out over the ocean. We spent 5 nights without any issues at all and really loved our time there. The breakfast each morning was something we looked forward to as it was varied and great quality with variation each day and felt like a real treat. The decor is classy and understated in a way that makes you feel at home but also like you are getting a treat. Upon arrival we learned there was a sauna you could book and use which was small but perfect for us in an evening after good hikes during the day. The pool was cool but kept very well and, with everything, very relaxed and not loud or busy. The place was clearly pretty booked up but never felt busy or anything other than very relaxed and restful for us. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to rest and enjoy in the area!

Wow what a find. We just did a google search and found this place and took a chance. So glad we did. We had a 2 bed apartment and it was really spacious. Living/dining area, large kitchen, 2 big bedrooms with en suites and our bed was huge! A garden with terrace and a large balcony overlooking the pool. Staff super friendly and a shuttle takes you down and back from the beach as the road up is pretty steep but only a 15 min walk. The pool area was not that busy or noisy although, as you would expect, it was buzzing and lively. No annoying music playing or kids club type stuff thankfully. All very grown up but lots of families. Nice pool bar serving drinks and good food. Salema itself is beautiful and quaint and rustic too. The only slight gripe I have is that the kitchen is not that well equipped so if you have a large family and don't want to eat out every night this could be tricky. Also if you are a coffee addict like me, the apartment is only equipped with one of those Nespresso things which personally i don't like!!

I stayed here for a week the room had a problem with shower toilet headboard and glass partition on balcony none of the above bothered me as I still found the hotel to be basic but alright, however I am gluten free, whilst they had special guests stopping they couldn't cater enough so first three days where brilliant, when the special guests checked out the gluten free bread cakes and quasisnts were no longer an option the gluten free sausages were also not an option, I asked staff which were rude and said if have issue raise with reception, I found it easier to buy my own bread for the rest of the holiday and just have beans from the breakfast buffet, would have definitely recommend to coeliac friends and family however seems they can only cater when they have special guests which is ashame
