Never one to read too much into earlier reviews, I came here with an open mind at a very reasonable price through jet2citybreaks. Wow was that a mistake. The hotel is conveniently located not too far from St. Catalina bus station, about a 10-15 minute walk so easy to get too from the airport, and when you are here it is 2 minutes from the beach - first impressions - tick. The lobby looks nothing like the pictures, it’s dark and unappealing but the man on reception was very friendly and helpful. He even chatted to me about the possibility of keeping the room a little longer on my last day as I have a late flight home. The room itself - this is where you suddenly realise your mistake. I was given an internal room, with a small window opening into a sealed central courtyard - so no airflow at all and a faint smell. The bathroom, also - no ventilation, very dark and in poor repair. Considering it’s 30 degrees currently - I hoped the air con was good but sadly it barely worked. The food service is the next disappointment, you come to realise that the staff are extremely rude - not interested in helping you and wander about glaring at you and pulling plates out from under your nose whilst still eating. The food itself was quite nice, although after only 24 hours my tummy isn’t feeling great. I have checked out and found myself somewhere else to stay. Don’t make the same mistake I have - this is not a nice hotel and you will be seriously disappointed.

The apartment block entrance way doesn't look appealing but the hallway is very modern. Some rooms i believe have been renovated but mine room 103 was a bit jaded in the kitchen and mixed tiles were used in the bathroom. The location is great for cafes and snack bars, a long walkway straight outside. My room had a small balcony where you could hang washing, there are 2 laundrettes just a few yards away. You can just see the sea from the balcony which is moments away. There is a very wide promenade for about a mile along the broad beach. The kitchen had two sets of plates, cups and bowls and cutlery. The hotplate is modern and heats up extremely quickly. There is a good sized fridge but mine was dripping onto the floor as it was iced up. The receptionist is nice but only speaks Spanish but was able to help me with my taxi back to the Airport. I thoroughly enjoyed my 5 nights there and would stay there again. There is some street noise during the night especially on Friday. There is a wall mounted colour TV in front of the two single beds.

I was so pleasantly surprised when I arrived here. The rooms are like a mini apartment, spacious, bright, clean and airy. There's everything you need to cook & clean. The bathroom looked very new and clean. The beds were so comfortable I slept better here than at home. Noise levels were fine in our room. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The location is exceptional. After reading reviews here I really was dreading my stay but the only very small things were that hotplate was fairly tired and the numbers had rubbed off, which didn't hinder anything, and there was building work on a couple of days that was out of the hotels control and didn't matter anyway as we were out most of the day. I truly cannot believe how lovely it was especially for the budget I will definitely be visiting again and highly recommend.

We booked this as a cheap and cheerful final break of the year. We're not usually all-inclusive kind of people and tend to venture further a field longhaul. Having read some poor comments we were slightly skeptical, but we found the place fantastic for a weeks holiday, the rooms are spacious and cleaned daily. The all-inclusive options are good, unless you are a very picky 'English' only eater - breakfast and lunch options were preferred to the dinner options but still more than enough choice to make a meal. I can't comment on the alcohol situation as we are non-drinkers, but there is a variety of fizzy pop, water, fruit juice, a variety of coffee and tea options and alcohol free beer to choose from. We didn't spend much time in the resort itself as we like to explore - we hired a car and I would recommend doing so if you stay at this resort, especially if you aren't much of a walker as it's a 15/20 minute walk to the beach and resort centre. There is an onsite cat colony, a few specific cats came to our room to chill on the balcony, which we didn't mind as we are cat people. The pool area was cleaned daily and there was an ample amount of sunbeds available when required. The only negetive is the lack of air conditioning in the bedrooms - fans only. We had a fantastic time and hope to venture back someday.

I arrived at Castillo in the early evening of October 2nd 2023 as a solo traveller. Having left home some 8 hours previously, I felt tired , hungry , and thirsty and was therefore looking forward to being welcomed to my apartment quickly and efficiently as a holidaymaker. Instead I found myself face to face with a surly and charmless young man who ran through the check in procedure in a bored and disinterested fashion before thrusting a grainy and badly photocopied map into my hand in order to find my apartment myself amongst hundreds of similar white bungalows in the complex At this point I might add I’m the only traveller checking in at that point. Some 45 minutes later I find my apartment after walking round the complex umpteen times , if the check in guy had removed himself from behind the desk and simply pointed to a gate 50 yards up the road all this could have been avoided. The apartment was tired looking , sagging curtains , broken sofa bed , the main beds were uncomfortable metal frame affairs with a mismatched wooden headboard jammed up between them and the walls No air con , simply antiquated ceiling fans/lights which were hard to figure out to keep running without the lights on. Kitchenette appallingly equipped . Something scuttles when I open a cupboard Blocked drains emitting foul odours in the bathroom The roads around the complex are shocking , featuring broken manhole covers , broken electrical boxes , discarded rubbish lying around , and oh watch out for cars randomly crossing your path without warning from the strange little mini roundabouts which allow cars to zoom in front of people in a pedestrian zone. Also beware the electric scooters hacking around everywhere I think I had 3 room service visits in a fortnight , and despite paying for late checkout on my last day I then had a cleaner wondering why I was still there at 12 , I had to google the words paid late check out to get rid of her , obviously someone hadn’t done their job! Finally if you come here and are not particularly fit , it’s approximately 1 1/4 miles to the nearest beach , despite saying beach resort and a steep uphill climb on the return I’m sure Castillo will give the standard reply to this review , but you need to revamp your rooms , employ staff that are good with people , repair your roads , look after your grounds properly , including using the irrigation system in order to avoid the eyesore of dead plants everywhere, last but not least some general information given to guests and proper signage around the place would greatly help!

Fantastic return trip and a brilliant holiday! We arrived very early, well before lunchtime and were surprised to find our room was ready and that we had been given a free upgrade to a sea view, along with a free family spa pass, cava and chocolates to the room and a free upgrade to the a la carte restaurant one evening. My husband had emailed prior to request something and the email had been taken into account. This is a very spacious, clean and well maintained hotel. The grounds are lovely the pools are big. We NEVER once had an issue with sunbeds whatever time of day and often came back from the beach late morning to see 50+ available sunbeds. I’m not sure how this is the case but it makes such a difference! The kids (6 & 6) enjoyed the daily activities in the pool such as the running mat and inflatable slide and were also pleased they could use their own inflatable tyres in the pool. The proximity to the gorgeous beach is so handy. The water is mostly calm with golden sand and clear water. The rooms are large and spacious with a huge bathroom area and large balcony. It’s a bit strange how you can almost see through into the next door balcony though. We had room 336 which had a stunning view. The rooms are also very clean and the maids are very helpful. The restaurant is really pretty outside and very spread out, compared to some hotels where you feel on top on the next table. It felt so quiet. The waiters are all friendly and efficient. The food was very good and hot. The inside decor definitely needs updating and modernising. The veranda bar was ok for a quick bite and for ice creams/beer around the pool. The mini disco was loved by my kids and they enjoyed getting a lolly after each one. We didn’t use the kids club but the other kids around the pool seemed to enjoy this a lot. We stayed half board and the Spar at the local shopping centre was handy for baguettes, drinks and snacks for the room. The manager was frequently seen throughout the day and often said hello at breakfast time; it was good to know he was personally checking on the restaurant standards. The staff in general are so friendly and cannot do enough for you. The kids remembered Davide from a previous visit and he was so good to them, helping them with their Spanish etc. the animation team are all very friendly and funny too. Overall, we had a brilliant family holiday which represented excellent value for money. On the way back to the airport we got the jet2 bus (but it is worth getting a taxi on the way to the hotel at least approx 18 euros before tip) and as we drove round the other hotels I can safely say there was not one that I would have stayed in- the Sheraton was far more superior!

9943russellbReading the reviews made me so excited to visit and it didn’t disappoint. I like my home comforts and the accommodation was excellent, comfy, modern, peaceful and couldn’t have asked for more. It was nice to be able to go back to the accommodation knowing you could sit back and also relax without noise or noisy neighbours. The place itself is mainly also really peaceful, two main pools, they are quite cold but not so much you wouldn’t go in and was a nice relief on the warmer days. There was table tennis (sorry we lost a lot of balls on the roof!) and pool (1 euro per game which was good) and golf (golf not recommended as it’s on concrete and nearly impossible to play- but still had fun with a lovely sea view). I want to talk about the staff, I didn’t take names but they will know who they are. Reception staff all very polite and couldn’t do enough. Felt like they wanted us to be there and it started our holiday off perfect. Whenever we needed anything they were there. Baileys bar was amazing. Food and drinks lovely (yummy milkshakes) and the service was also exceptional and with a smile. I tipped a few times as they were all brilliant. One in particular we took a shine to as he was always so helpful, sorting F1 for us and then the Olympics. It really did feel like home. A good base for playa flamingo (15 min walk) lovely restaurant called El Argentino - best fresh pizza and also lovely pasta. All in all one of the best accommodation we have stopped at and as our kids are older the peace and quiet was also nice. Thanks for making our holidays special and we will definitely be back! 22B we stopped in with a lovely partial sea view to top it off! Perfect

LLouis ConnorExtremely welcoming staff and clean reception area, every member of staff took the time to greet us and smile! The decor is well considered and provides a luxury feel. We were offered a complimentary coffee whilst we waited for our room to be ready. The room has everything you need and we had a lovely view of the Arrecife coast. The beds were comfortable as were the other amenities with bonus points for a great bathroom and powerful shower! Towards the evening we spent time on the top floor in the hotels 'Solarium' which featured a hot tub and more glorious views of the Arrecife coast. We would not hesitate to book again as we found our stay to represent excellent value!

GGuest UserI am happy to my stay with Secrotel Hotel Praque. I book it after checking reviews from other travelers comment. Yes, price is good and to it's location, it is close to shopping centre, restaurants and supermarkets. Staff are helpful. Buffet breakfast is good. Breakfast restaurant is on the top level of this hotel, we can enjoy stunning ocean view and sunlight while having breakfast. It is bonus. However, a minor thing I like to share is during busy morning especially when restaurant is full house, it always running out of coffee cups, juice glasses as well as cereal bowls. I cannot have to wait a long while for these 3 times from my 5 days breakfast. Maybe hotel can put some signage to suggest guests be eco-friendly minded to re-use glass, cup and bowl when refill. As I have seen some have 5 -6 cups and glass on a table. Bed is comfortable, room is clean with basic things you need. Yes, no electric kettle, no slippers as standard 3 stars hotel do. So, I have no complaint. There has no more noise from constructions, as this is my concern after reading other travelers comments in the pass. So I think all is done. Hotel locates next to taxi, bus station but not close to beach area. It's no problem to me for this winter travel. I am very happy for all. Definitely recommend it to others.

SSunshine38890253757We stayed here in July 2024. This was our 8th holiday in Lanzarote and we felt this hotel was definitely in our top 3! We arrived late at night to a friendly gentleman on reception who gave us our key room 126, which I had requested on the booking (right around the pool area) and told us to come back the following day to make payment. The room was nice, everything we needed. Very very hot though! There was no fan so we got one from reception and the following day we hired another one. I believe you can actually hire air con from Hire365 which we will do the next time we visit. our room had a gorgeous shaded patio overlooking the pool area with lovely flowering trees around it. A beautiful area to sit and have breakfast or lunch. we had an issue with the plaster on the ceiling falling down in the bathroom but this was fixed by maintenance. The first morning I got up early (7am-ish, I noticed a lot of towels out, so I put ours out. We went to the Mercadona (through the carpark on level 3 then down to bottom floor) to get some necessities for the week. We always stay around the pool all day long and noted that many people left towels for hours on end unnatended. Sometimes, depending on what lifeguard was on duty, there would be cards left on the beds and then after some time the towels were removed. But most days this was not done. We only ate once in the hotel on our last day and it was nice. The staff at the pool bar are very friendly. There is a launderette you can use on site. All in all, wonderful hotel in a superb location in Lanzarote, we've tried many different hotels and we could safely say we will be back to the Lomo Blanco (but will be renting air conditioning)

GGuest UserI was made feel very welcome when I arrived at Pension Magec. The hospitality I received from the management and other guests was amazing. Its a very friendly place. The property is very clean and my room was cleaned everyday. The management are extremely helpful. The management will go out of their way ensure that guests needs are met all times. Carla is lovely as are everyone else works there including Sandi the manager The view from the top veranda is stunning. The guests can sit and have a drink and chat together on the veranda. As a solo traveller you would never be lonely and its very safe. Everyone talks to each other when up on the veranda. You are made feel welcome by both management and other guests at all times. There is always someone to talk to. I felt we were like a big happy family. There is free tea and coffee at the property. I would highly recommend Pension Magec as its very central. GGuest UserThis was a one night stay before picking up the cruise ship Azamara Onward. To get to check-in, you have to go up one storey from ground level by climbing a fancy set of entrance steps. There is a 1970s ”baggage lift” to the rhs, and if you have a disability you can use that, but it has no sides, and moves at a snails pace whilst your finger has to stay on the button. This lack in investment speaks volumes about this hotel. I was given a superior room due to loyalty scheme status, but it was nothing special. The air con was noisy, and the room lacked charging points. The mattress wasn't that great, and the bedding was musty. Dinner in the 23rd floor restaurant was a farce. The restaurant was fairly full with cruise guests on a dinner package that included a buffet and drinks. Rather than allowing us to pay for the same buffet, we were forced to choose from a very limited overpriced restaurant menu. The food was disgusting. The extremely processed food ”burger” was still raw in the middle; the hake was aslso still raw in the middle and both had to be sent back to the kitchen. They couldn't even cook the chips. My travel companion said that breakfast in the morning was even more of a disaster - not enough seats for the guests, nor enough food out. Would I stay here again? Well, I used Marriott points, so it was free. If I was paying for it, I'd want my money back.....

GGuest UserThe Hotel lied. Three days before our stay, we had read on another site that repair works were being conducted at our hotel. I got in touch with Easyjet to ask if this was the case. They said they works look into it. They phoned me back a day before we flew and told me any work was minor and would be finished. Me being me, phoned the Hotel directly and was told by Libby she would check with her manager. She reported that there was some painting of the chill out area being completed and it would be finished by the time we got there. As you can see in the photos, this was not the case. They were replacing tiles to the roof! Whole areas were sectioned off, losing at least 20+ sunloungers, Barely any safery measures in place. Loud noise too. If I hadn't been recovering from a stroke and I hadn't pointed this out when I phoned, then maybe, just maybe I could have got over it but it just wasn't the holiday I had planned for, expected nor been reassured about. Silly things also let it down: we weren't allowed tea or coffee after lunch or dinner. They refused to turn the machines back on from breakfast, instead pointing us to the pool bar to have one in a plastic cup. Who wants to leave a restaurant to go elsewhere for a cuppa?! Hardly an all inclusive service! Adult only Hotel but with only 2 TV channels in English, one of which is the Disney channel 🤔 😄 plenty of Mickey Mouse! Sort it out! Oh and while you're at it, please put a door on the bathroom! I'm not shy however the entrance to the bathroom was opposite the largest window, which was opposite the neighbouring Hotel! We had to have the blind down the whole time so we didn't show more than our ankles! Lovely huge corner room but spoilt by no privacy. Food was delicious 😋 not one bad meal. Alcoholic drink choice not great, cocktails appalling 🙄😒 entertainment was good on a few nights. In short the Hotel had the potential to be fabulous but fell short and became frustrating and irritating, such a shame.

GGuest UserJust returned from a fantastic week here. The room we had was on the opposite side to pool and reception, which was lovely and peaceful. Didn't spend time at the pool or eat here as we are beach lovers and walk a lot. Reception were friendly, very pleasant and helpful. The bungalow was superb, very clean and spacious. Lovely bathroom with great shower. Patio is huge and we left towels etc out at night with no problem at all. Other guests on our side were friendly, some return year after year. So many different restaurants nearby which we tried. Thai, Indian, Spanish and Mexican. All very good value in my opinion as we spend most of our holidays on Greek Islands. We didn't find it 'typical Brit' as earlier reviews stated. All in all, a lovely resort in lovely accommodation! Would I go back? Definitely be there next January!

GGuest UserWe went to Barcelo Active Resort for our Honeymoon from the 21st Feb 2024 to 2nd March 2024 (All Inclusive) and we were very happy with our stay. It is a lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff that are very polite and welcoming. They put on entertainment every night, although some can be a little repetitive, it was still enjoyable to watch and be apart of. The food at the hotel is nice with lots of variety and choice, there is something different every day which is a plus. They even do a roast on a Sunday! Our hotel room was spotless, it was a lovely room, however not many hangers if there is 2 of you wanting to hang your clothes up. The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the centre with shops and bars a long the way, alternatively the hotel will call a taxi for you if you aren't up for the walk. There are taxi ranks dotted all over the centre so it is easy to get back. It is a very windy island so please be cautious of that, however when the sun is out, the wind is a nice addition. Unfortunately we had a few days of clouds too which made it a little chilly at times, but the sun did make its appearance at some point in the day. It is a very active hotel with lots to do during the day, for example yoga at 11am then a cocktail demonstration at 3:15pm. You won't get bored here! All in all, we had a wonderful 10 days at Barcelo and will definitely be back at some point. If you are wanting to do some excursion while you're there, then I would highly recommend you do the Grand Tour excursion! It is a full day and costs 99 euros per person but it is incredible and so worth it! We loved our Honeymoon here🤍

PPablo Altvarg JuffeThe place is good, but maybe there are better hotels for the same price. Caleta de Fuste Beach is ideal for exploring the island because it is in the center of it, with a car you have 1 hour up and another hour down from this hotel to go to the best beaches. You can also relax on the hotel's beach with a very beautiful artificial pool made by the sea.
