Red Roof Inn & Suites Omaha - Council Bluffs
3.5/599 Reviews
Surprisingly quiet considering its location so close to the huge highway ...although this is near a train yard and they are honking their horns a LOT!!!!! Nice clean room with many new power outlets and USB ports. Bedding comfortable and a easily managed TV. Washroom area is ”interesting” with a small outside sink with little counter space and the new shower/tub is behind a somewhat cumbersome door. A pleasure to stay here....and hopefully I will return.
My Place Hotel-Council Bluffs/Omaha East, IA
4.4/599 Reviews
This was my first time staying at a My Place hotel. We needed somewhere safe and close to the interstate that could accommodate our pet (they do have a small but reasonable fee per pet) for a quick overnight during our road trip. Price was right (note that part of this is because breakfast is not included but you can order for delivery to your room in advance for a fee) and reviews were good so we decided to try it and we were pleased. The hotel and room was nothing fancy but clean and we were pleased to see that there was a kitchenette with a full size fridge. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were not the best so if pillows are important to you and you can throw one in the car with you, consider doing so. Staff was friendly and helpful. Based on my good experience in Council Bluffs I would try another My Place in the future and would definitely stay here again.
Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Council Bluffs/Omaha
3.9/597 Reviews
First off, ”microtel” means ”micro-sized room.” But that's OK. It just means you have to walk carefully around the bed and for your trouble, you get a lower price. I'm fine with that. The things I'm not so fine with follow: 1. The check-in clerk was MIA from the desk for at least 20 minutes while several parties arrived and lined up, waiting to check in, all of us puzzled and unsure what to do. When the clerk got back, he gave no apology or explanation. 2. As he processed each of us, he seemed very flustered and unsure how to do this job. I almost felt badly for him. Where was his manager? His training? 3. Parts of our room had been cleaned well, but the carpet was so dirty that the bottoms of our bare feet were black within an hour. Also, the carpet was slightly wet and spongy--the kind of spongy that happens in a humid climate with an evaporative cooler instead of real A/C. Does the management know this? 4. Our curtains seemed nice enough until we closed them and found that the black-out liner backing was full of holes. Not life-threatening, but yucky. 5. The freezer part of our refrigerator was defunct. Again, not vital, but annoying. 6. In the pool area, all the pool towels were soiled and were dumped into a laundry basket there. No clean towels. So before getting wet, I went back to the front desk, where the same clerk didn't seem to know anything about pool towels. He then went back to the laundry room and brought me a hand-towel-sized towel with a pool stripe. Not very helpful. 7. The lock on our bathroom door was loose, causing the handle to pull out of the lock mechanism from the inside. We were always able to get out of the bathroom by sticking our finger into the lock mechanism, but somebody who isn't handy might panic in there. 8. As we were checking out, again, no sight of a clerk for several minutes. Finally, a young woman appeared. My husband said we were checking out of room 123 and handed her our keys. She dropped the keys in the key box (I guess we were supposed to have done that ourselves) and smirked, as if to communicate, ”You bothered me for THIS?” OK, we apologize for the mistake, but a little smile or at least a ”Thank you” wouldn't kill her. So all in all, there was no one thing that would disqualify Microtel from our consideration in the future--just a whole series of actions which communicate that this Microtel location doesn't care about its customers, doesn't plan to maintain the property properly and doesn't plan to train staff to value anything about their jobs. I'm not sure who owns this problem, but we won't be back.
Motel 6 Council Bluffs, IA - Omaha East

The area looks sketchy, our room was clean and smell really strong like detergent. I only mention this for the people that are sensitive to strong smells (like I am) We stayed only one night with pet, we were just passing by. Overall would probably stay again.
