Dear customer services representative from IHG rewards club and Owner of HI Hammersmith, My family and I had the misfortune of staying at the Holiday Inn Express Hammersmith in London from 1st September to 2nd September in room number 340. During the checking-in process, I have encountered the most unsatisfactory, rude, and disturbing services in my lifetime that I think you should know of and hopefully do something about. First of all, we arrived at the hotel at 14:50. Upon arrival, the lady who was responsible for checking in, mentioned to me, all guests would have to wait for another 15 minutes before checking in. I was puzzled, and enquired the root cause to the problem, at the same time, trying to come out of an alternative solution (which they should have done this), asking as a diamond member to IHG rewards club, if the hotel can prepare the paperwork, take the credit card information first, and assigning a room can be delayed to a later stage? This is because I had to rush to north London to pick up my son. The reception lady replied very bluntly, without any sympathy, “We cannot do anything and usually your room won’t be ready until 4PM, we already move forward to 3 o’clock.” The room check in time should be 3pm not 4pm, this was stated in the hotel policy and in the booking email. I was not satisfied with her attitude and explanation. I don’t mind she told me the true reason, for example, the hotel is understaffed or they had a group of international tourists a night before who all have late check out. However, covering the true reason, finding an excuse does NOT reflect the expected level of customer services, which damage the integrity of services staffs and brand image. So I began to challenge her explanation, hoping to get a satisfying explanation with controlled and still firm voice. At the point, the duty manager Jas***e came by, instead of trying to calm the customer down, and asking for the reasons to resolve the problem. She behaved very aggressively (holding her head up, with her very arrogant face and body language) and being very judgmental, started to shout to my family (including my 8 year old daughter), in front of many other customers waiting in the lounge, ‘I dislike the way you talked to my colleague’, blaming me to be very arrogant and impolite to her colleague. In a matter of fact, I merely was very firm with my voice and unsatisfied why she said the check in should be 4pm, and refused to do anything to save a few minutes. She said the customer she was dealing with, has a diamond platinum status, if he can wait, why not me. I corrected her, “diamond is the top level of IHG club membership. What I am asking here is if I can check in early, at least fill in the documents and bank details, as I am in a rush.” She pointed out to all customers waiting in the lobby, “You have no privilege than anybody comes earlier than you.” I was not trying to take privilege as I explained before. I’ve just visited the hotel (late June 2024) with my wife and 14 year old granddaughter. I paid, in advance, for a Junior Suite, for 2 nights, so as to provide our granddaughter with some degree of privacy. When we arrived at 2.30 after a 6 hour journey, we were told our room wasn’t ready but would be in a few minutes. An hour later, we finally gained access. On the first evening we went to see Mean Girls at the Savoy Theatre, arriving back at the hotel around 11pm. After having a drink in bar, we went to the room and discovered the sofa bed hadn’t been made up, something we had become accustomed to expect would happen automatically, having stayed at the Victoria Hilton on previous occasions. When we phoned the reception no one answered. Reluctantly, we set the sofa up and used towels as a sheet. But during the night, I got dressed and went down to reception, as the room was cold and uncomfortable without a blanket. A young man assisted by getting a colleague to collect a blanket and two pillows, which were delivered minutes later to our room. In the morning, I tried phoning reception, with, again, no answer. So, I got dressed, went down to reception and spoke to the young lady who supplied the keys the day before. She apologised for what had happened and assured me the bed issue would be sorted for that evening. She seemed genuine, so we left for some shopping, a visit to the V & A Naomi Campbell exhibition, an evening meal, arriving back at the hotel around 6 pm. On entering the room we noticed the bed had not been sorted, so immediately called back down to reception. It was busy, so I spoke to a young man at the Concierge desk, and having explained the situation secured a commitment, he would attend to the problem. Within 15 minutes, another young man attended clutching sheets, pillows and duvet and set up the bed. Overall, I would say, the hotel is well located, right next to Shepherd’s Bush Over/Underground stations. It’s facilities are, pretty average, a bit dated and not a patch on the one at Victoria, albeit it’s more expensive. Our experience with the hotel’s service was disappointing and like nothing we’ve experienced before. No one from the hotel’s management made any contact but we did receive a voucher for a free drink! So, based on our experience, I could not recommend.

The hotel was as expected, staff helpful. However the usb hubs in the room didn’t function and there was no indication that they didn’t so having arrived late evening with a busy three days work ahead, I then woke up to a Flat phone and iPad. Reception then told me, on my enquiry that only the refurbished rooms had functioning sockets but plugs were available in the shop area. At £17 each I was unimpressed as I had no time to get down to the shops and get some charge going before my working day. Small things can cause unnecessary anxiety to solo female travellers and no phone is at the top of the list. So hence my poor rating. Food also was expensive and very average, go elsewhere.

It's full of surprises. The management company sent us the check in info 2 days in advanced and I was so shocked that gave us an apartment that is down in the basement. We complained and they eventually gave us an apartment that is on the 2nd floor. If you have lots of luggages, don't even consider booking this place. The stairs are really steep. The place was clean. The mattresses are sagging. Someone opened our door on the morning of our second last day and tried to check into our apartment. All in all, the experience wasn't too bad considering that I only paid approximately GBP180 per day for the half term weeks. For someone who mainly travels within Asia, it was a nightmare, but I guess it wasnt too bad in London standard.

Incredible stay in a beautiful apartment. Staff were top notch, really helpful and kind. Was perfect for our stay! Highly recommended if you are looking for easy access to central areas, and a comfortable stay in a homely space. Will certainly be back on our next city break. Thanks Sanctum!

Sanctum Maida Vale is a limited service apartment hotel in Kilburn Park. It doesn't have restaurant, yet there are over a dozen within 2-3 blocks. Many are excellent, and many deliver. They don't put a mint on your pillow at night , yet there are many fluffy pillows and extra towels. Way more than my wife knew what to do with. There are many mass transit options within 3 blocks. (Underground, Overground and Busses) Access to most of London is quick and easy. You have a Starbucks, Tesco (Small Grocery/open late), Library within 1/2 a block. You have M&S Food, Boots/Pharmacy within about 2 blocks. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean in an excellent neighborhood. I have stayed here multiple times and my family always looks forward to returning here.

We spent a nice few days in the Kensington area of London in May 2022. The room was comfortable and clean. The buffet breakfast was very nice albeit a bit crowded at times. We got home and realized that I left my drone with case and extra batteries. I called the hotel from the US and spoke withTheo, he confirmed they had found it in the room... yeah! Housekeeping turned it in. Thank you very much Paraschiva! I appreciate your help in finding the item! Now, how to get the drone home... Theo suggested finding a courier service to pick-up, package and ship the drone to the US. I do some homework and learn it would cost around $200, the drone was less than $400. I asked Theo if they could hold it 'till our return in September and he agreed. We return and I call Theo and he asks me to send him a label and he will take care of it, he does! Wow, who could ask for better customer service? We were not staying there and they took care of this, they didn't have to go out other way! Thank you Paraschiva and Theo. I hope we can meet next time we are in London so I can thank you personally!

Visit here often for work. The location is fantastic and the staff are always helpful and nice. The staff that work the Starbucks cafe in the lobby Ali, and Goitom always great me with a warm hello and go above and beyond.

The hotel is quite dated. There is no option to open the window so no fresh air in the room. Air conditioning in the room is quite noisy so we had to turn it off for night. The sockets are quite old I would say with the strange noise when used, instead USB worked better. Bathroom is quite old the shower was partially broken. It was okay for one night stay.

The morning after our first night my friend and I noticed a bug crawling on one of the beds, we continued our investigation and noticed DOZENS of those crawling all over the twin beds we just spent the night in. We were exhausted the night before after coming back to hotel late and after having shower just jumped straight into beds - who would have thought we weren’t they only ones spending night in those beds! Quick research after our findings and we realised that those were BEDBUGS! Never in my life had I come across anything like this before, not even after being a student and staying at questionable hostels! We reported this to the reception and were offered another room. We didn’t move immediately in the morning and made an agreement that we would move in the evening when we would be back to the hotel. Coming back in the evening and reporting to the reception for a new room, we found one of the evening staff being rude to us and questioning if the bedbugs were from their hotel (like what?!?!?!?). Simple, we said, because we had photo and video evidence of bedbugs crawling all over the beds, we said! This quickly ended her argument with us. We then moved to our new room, where there was no obvious evidence of bedbug infestation, however being a reportedly new room, we found hair all over the floor in the bathroom of that allegedly “cleaned” new room. Unfortunately, being an extremely sensitive to cleanness person and following the events of the previous night, I decided to leave early and not spent another night in this disgusting hotel. My friend, who had a flight early next morning however had no chance and spend a little longer and left at 04am. The evening I decided to leave I started coming out in rash, which had only been getting worse ever since. The intensity of the itch is like nothing I’d ever experienced before - it stops me from sleeping, it drives me absolutely mad, no matter how much I try, one can’t look professional when they have bite marks all over their body, including the face, ears, neck, fingers, hands, forearms - ie areas one can’t cover up - and needing to constantly scratch herself! This obviously has affected my work! And the itch is no better even 6 days later!! In fact, the bite marks are now swollen, causing swelling of my fingers, the scratch marks are now bleeding and I am the most irritated I’ve ever been! Let me emphasise, this is six days later and I genuinely don’t know how much longer I’m yet to suffer! I have obviously filed a complaint and have been contacted by the hotel - they are “kindly” offering to compensate the cost of my medication (as I am now on antihistamines - which don’t work really, as I can’t take the stronger type due to its sedating effect, as I have to continue working and driving; as well as steroid cream) and the cost of my dry cleaning. HOWEVER, despite multiple email exchanges and telephone consultations, they are not planning to refund a 100% of our payment, the argument being
