Erstmal das Positive: Man wohnt sehr zentral, alles ist zu Fuß erreichbar. Von außen ist es ein wunderschönes Gebäude und die Parkmöglichkeit ist top. Das war es aber auch schon. Die Liste der negativen Eigenschaften ist lang. Die Zimmer sind aus den 80er Jahren und total verwohnt. Ich war unter dem Dach und die Hitze war unerträglich, die Klimaanlage defekt. Mit offenem Fenster konnte man wegen des Lärms nicht schlafen. Von den Flecken und der Ausdünstung des Teppichbodens will ich nicht sprechen. Der Plastikvorhang am Fenster war ausgerissen und auch die Nachtischlampe hing in Fetzen herunter. Das Badezimmer mit schmuddeligem Duschvorhang und Armaturen mit Grünspan war der reinste Horror. Habe zwei Nächte kaum schlafen können. Die Bar war ab 22 Uhr geschlossen weil scheinbar das Personal was anderes vor hatte. Zu mindestens wurde ganz ungeniert mit einem Gast an der Bar geknutscht. Fazit: Nicht empfehlenswert! Hoffentlich findet sich jemand, der das schöne Haus wieder zu neuem Glanz verhilft. Wäre schade wenn es noch mehr herunterkommt.

The location is very convenient. It is very convenient for eating and shopping nearby. It is also very close to the water tower. The room is large and the main mattress is hard, unlike other European hotels where the mattresses are very soft.

We came two hours early. In all hotels we were when a guest arrive, the try to finish its room earlier. Not in this hotel. The check in starts at 15:00 to all guests. Hotel management prefers to se me sleep on a couch in the lobby and not resting in their room. So we will wait patiently untill 15:00, and then wait in the line to get our key. Room is OK. No ventilation in bathroom. Coffee machine - really disgusting. We did not try. Location: Perfect for our personal needs Parking: Public parking with a direct connection to the hotel. We were told the price per day is 12 EUR. We stayed less but paid more. 20 EUR. Never mind. General look: Decorated. Nice. Next time in Mannheim: not at this hotel. Date of stay: June 2023

We are so disappointed. Don't be fooled by the offer and facilities you see online. We found the place soulless, which is such a shame, because it has hugh potential. I specifically chose this hotel because there were onsite facilities including a restaurant and bar. Neither were open on the day we checked in, apparently due to staff sickness!! So, I am expected to believe that only one person is tasked with running the kitchen, restaurant and bar! Umm! I am slightly cynical, to be honest. After a long drive we were looking forward to dinner and drinks. Our room was fine- very clean and comfortable ....but we could have had the same quality room for far less elsewhere. Breakfast was fine but again, I wouldn't pay for that again. The breakfast room was so deathly quiet, we wanted to eat breakfast and get out of there. No atmosphere. When you arrive at this hotel, you walk through a cloud of smoke, as the smoking area is directly infront of the front doors. What a welcome. I paid for the additional facilities but my meal that night was a bread roll from Lidl, up the road. I have waited almost two weeks for Leonardo to respond to my direct complaint via their chat service and I've heard nothing - I did give them the chance to address my complaint directly. More

This was a last minute booking owing to a campsite not existing; it's easier to find a local hotel than a nearby campsite which could be miles away! We used *********** to locate a nearby hotel and this was not only the nearest but also the cheapest, possibly owing to it being a last minute booking. We had only one problem and that was getting into the place because it's not staffed all the time and it was Sunday early evening. There was a clear message advising us to ring a number which we did twice but there was no answer. Fortunately some other guests came out of the hotel at this moment and they tried ringing the number and got through. Problem solved and so began a very pleasant stay after this initial hiccup. The room, although hot, was provided with a very adequate fan; it was basic but clean and modern. The bathroom was the same. We had a good night in the very comfortable bed. Breakfast the next morning - included in the price - was the highlight. Everything you could possibly want was available and there was plenty of it. The manager was present and he was most helpful. We explained the issues we had had getting in the previous evening and he apologised saying that the receptionist at the hotel we called must have been temporarily away from his post. We also had problems getting items out of the machine in the foyer and he explained that heat can cause this machine not to work, so he gave us a couple of items free from it as compensation. Altogether, despite minor setbacks, we would recommend this hotel.

Very nice hotel in the center of the town. Good rooms , clean, comfortable bed, excellent shower, several power sockets available. But the real pleasure is breakfast: they serve whatever you may desire, sweet, salted, yogurt, the bread is delicious, cereals, fruit, cakes, brioche, bacon, sausage, cheese…etc. all high quality food. And it opens at 06:30, absolutely a convenient time for working people (many hotels nowadays open at 7:30 breakfast time, which I consider pretty much insulting for clients…). A special mention for personnel: very kind and professional, Mathias, Jenny and Karina do a remarkable job, making you feel very good, taking care of you, with proactive and helping attitude towards the client, something that nowadays you very rarely find anymore. Thanks for making my staying so nice and comfortable during my two months work in Speyer

We stayed for 3 nights in May whilst attending the motor racing. Relatively easily found - located between an autobahn and commercial area. Car park just about adequate for the hotel and popular adjacent eateries. Friendly, efficient staff. Modern, clean and functional hotel. Room was comfortable and well equipped - decent bathroom with shower over bath. My room (106?) faced the autobahn and a railway line in a cutting - as I sleep with the window open, the consequent noise was to be expected! Breakfast buffet was to a good quality with plenty of choice. The ladies servicing the buffet were especially cheerful - maybe thankful for a full hotel. Unsurprisingly not cheap, as you’d expect on a weekend with an event at the circuit (minutes drive away). Convenience comes at a price!

The hotel was newly built and very clean. The shower and washbasin were easy to use. The breakfast was delicious. There were two bottles of mineral water (hard water) in the room. It is about a minute's walk to the left after leaving the station. It is so close that you can see it from the platform, so it was very convenient. However, to go sightseeing in the city or Heidelberg Castle, you need to use a tram or bus, but the bus stop is right in front of the hotel, so if you do your research, it's not a problem. Please note that the tourist information at the station opens a little late, at 10:00 as of July 2024.

We have visited this hotel many times. This was the first time after the pandemic. Staff was very welcoming and frinedly as usual. They really make the difference. Although the rooms could need AC, they have everythin you need. The outside of the hotel was completely renovated! Looking forward coming back!

Excellent

GGuest UserFirst off, understand that Ludwigshafen is not a happening place. I was here for business, for which I feel the place would be adequate for a day or two stay, but not the week I was here. I titled this as ”try hard”, as that's what I hear my kids call someone who is tries hard and fails, which I feel fits since the hotel tries really hard to be modern and hip. Moxy is Marriot's new brand aimed at the youth and the copies board games, lockers, random graffiti and whatnot scattered around the lobby would imply they are going that way. Considering most of the time it was filled with old businessmen like me would say they might want to consider having this in a more appropriate location. Moxy Lu is a very spartan hotel. No restaurant to speak of - on Sunday I asked if they had any lunch offerings as nothing is around there and they told me their one and only oven, used to cook breakfast, was broken and wouldn't be working for at least a few hours. There is a very solid Italian restaurant next door but you don't want to eat that every day. There's also right now a Christmas market nearby but the opening timing for it is very variable. It's also next to the Rhine mall but understand that German business hours are earlier than American so it closes early and is closed entirely on Sunday. Rooms are clearly advertised as capsule types and they are very reminiscent of Japanese capsule rooms - a bed, bathroom, a chair, and that's it. A hook on the wall and 4 hangers is all your clothes storage, a 6 inch wide, 2 foot long glass panel sticking out from the wall is your ”desk”, and that's it. No safe, no shelves, no coffee machine, nothing. Definitely not where I wanted to spend a week, but that's not their fault. The hotel is very new and is very clean overall. Also a plus that it is very quiet. I've been in hotels where I could literally hear the person walking around next door. All that said, why 3 stars? Well, as clean as it was, there was a long black hair at eye level in the shower when I first stepped in. As I'm folically challenged, I'm certain it wasn't mine. Secondly, one of the elevators broke multiple times while I was there, once trapping a person in there for 15 minutes while I was in the lobby. He eventually tumbled out, angry, scared, and half-clothed (took off some clothes as he was feeling very hot). Said elevator was not flagged as being out of order for at least an hour after as I was in and out. Eventually it was. It had an out of order sign still on it on my second day despite being in use...assumed this was an error before the guy got caught in front of me. Not good management of an issue, I feel.

GGuest UserThe central location and the good transport connection were crucial to choose this hotel. The ladies at the reception were very friendly and the check-in was very uncomplicated. The room was spacious and had everything you need. The cleanliness was also absolutely OK. The Rhine Gallery and shopping street are only about 5 minutes walk away. Parking facilities are available in the hotel's own parking house or in front of it (approximately €7/ night) Breakfast offered was modest but qualitatively in order.

I requested a quiet room that was not looking over the road, so to avoid noise, and they gave me one that was looking at an internal patio, extremly calm (windows are also soundproof). The room had 4 beds. It was quite clean. Very few shelves, in case this room was occupied by 4 people. The bathroom had enough towels, excellent liquid soap and hairdryer. No shampoo, no shower cap, just the basics. Good duvet blanket. There was also cable TV. As I arrived late in the night, I did the check in the automatic machine without having trouble. You enter the room using a code, so no need to manage keys. My only concern with the hotel: the security. I arrived at 12am and the two entrance doors were opened. Anybody could enter and climb to the rooms... Few staff in the reception and in the breakfast room. I was wondering that perhaps a little bit too expensive, taking into account that they have few staff and they provide just basic service. The rooms have no electric kettle nor fridge.

We travelled to Ludwigshafen for business and looked for hotels near to the work premises, unfortunately the 'Excelsior Hotel' was first in the list. At only 90 euros a night (including breakfast) it is no doubt a 'budget' option, but it isn't budget in the respect of a Travelodge or Premier Inn, instead it's a lost hotel in a pretty unpleasant area which has been left to decay. The hotel is a short walk from the railway station, graffiti-covered walls surround the hotel, and the first impression of the hotel visually is not a positive one, it's hard to even find the way in, amongst scaffolding and concrete jungle. At night, it's a fairly unsafe-feeling area, with people 'hangin around' looking suspicious. The one positive aspect upon booking was the 'Skybar', however digging deeper into reviews, it's clear that it's been closed long before the 'pandemic', infact 4 years ago, and upon arrival we were informed that it's still closed with no future planned. There is no restaurant onsite, nor bar besides a mini-fridge sat on the reception desk with a few bottles of beer available. Upon check-in, I was also asked for my 'date of birth' and home address, which often feels irrelevant, I refused to give such details. Once in the room, via the lift which takes about 5 minutes to arrive and to move, there's no air conditioning which during 32c weather was painful, but fortunately there was a fan. The room size isn't bad at all and the bed was comfortable, but the presentation of the room, as a new guest, wasn't considerate. A pile of electrical extension and cables was next to my bed, not tucked away out of sight. The internet connection was virtually useless in the afternoon/evenings after guests start to utilise it, I resorted to using mobile data instead. There are balconies, but they're just concrete and far from cosy, although the view over the city isn't at all bad. There is no furniture and in addition from a security aspect someone could easily go from their balcony to yours, therefore always be sure to lock and chain the balcony door when not in the room, or at night. At night, you can hear noise from neighbouring rooms, above, below and to the sides, I am also fairly sure that I had 3 'bed-bug' bites from my two night stay at the hotel. Breakfast was included in my 90 euro rate and the breakfast restaurant isn't bad, the service is friendly but the choice is limited, a few cold options and minimal hot options, no bacon or sausages unfortunately. It was a little off-putting to see mouse-traps being laid around the restaurant while I was sat trying to enjoy my meal. While away from the hotel, I left the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door, despite this upon return later that afternoon the cleaner had been into the room and cleaned, this is not acceptable when the message is clearly made that the room should not be disturbed.
