Foxhills provides luxurious amenities and professional service. Guests enjoy spacious, clean rooms and delicious breakfast. However, some find it overpriced for the room quality and lack of value.

Over the years my family and I have chosen Foxhills as the venue for special occasions. This has included my wedding, my parents wedding anniversary, birthdays and special family events. So when we were looking for somewhere special to celebrate Christmas Day there was really only one place which we felt could match our expectations. After all in your own brochure you state: ‘it’s all about getting together and having a good time with loved ones, celebrating in style and making it extra special. We’ll once again be transforming our historic Manor House and 400-acre estate into a winter wonderland, providing a magical venue for your Christmas festivities and giving that all-important dash of elegance and glamour.’ Foxhills, Christmas Brochure 2024. We chose your premium package for our Christmas Day lunch: The Manor House. As you can imagine for nine adults and one child this was not a minor expense…almost £1,500 just for the meal. But to be in the beautiful Manor House with its timeless decor and sumptuous surroundings, it was worth it for this special day. We booked as soon as the bookings opened in August. Imagine then our horror on Christmas Day when we were led, in our coats, past the cloakroom and dining rooms to a soulless conference room. The bright overhead lights on, no ambiance, no music, no table decor, no character - just conference tables in full glaring light. Apparently this is the ‘Library’, except there are no books, pictures, lamps, chairs. Just plain walls, conference circular tables and conference seating. The large recessed lights bore down on us and the whole room was soulless. We even had to hang our own coats on the makeshift rail placed in the corner! Certainly not the ‘celebrating in style’ we were lead to believe we had booked We deliberately did not choose the Golf Club offering, which was cheaper, because we wanted the ‘Manor House’ experience. Even the golf club offered a live pianist. When we said there was no atmosphere then someone brought their laptop and plugged it in to provide a Christmas playlist! It took three different members of our party to ask for the lighting to be altered before anything was done. Elegance and glamour…I think not! The advertised five course meal started with our first course being a bread roll and a pot of something unknown and unexplained to spread on our roll. Is this honestly a first course? The water on the table and the wine we purchased was put on the table…no tasting the wine to see if it was acceptable. None of the drinks were poured for us…not once! Surely if you know a group are unhappy with some of your experience you try to improve things by making sure their service is exceptional. Sadly that was not the case. Your staff stood at the welcome drinks table watching as one of our family members got up and moved around the table serving the drinks. The calling of the meal was clearly disorganised. Having guests at that table used to working in luxury events, to

Absolutely fantastic stay with the extended family and a little 2 year old. All the Foxhills staff were super friendly (special shout-out to Luis Reyna and Ursula). We loved the afternoon tea, sports facilities and kids activities. We will come back for sure!

This review is about the Fox dining rooms. I must first say that I am a member of Foxhills focusing on golf but use the other facilities as well. The Fox dining rooms are the premium dining venue at Foxhills and deservedly so. I recently went there with my wife, youngest daughter and son-in-law. The menu was varied and if anything the descriptions of the various dishes were understated. Starters were delicious, and I managed to taste a bit of each as that is our family way. The terrine was an excellent example of a a staple member of the appetiser menu while my salmon and trout mosaic was presented as salmon and trout tartare but in rather larger pieces than usual and collected together to form an attractive display. My wife had pumpkin soup in which a large tortellini was effectively cooked in the soup. My daughter had wood pigeon which was one of the most succulent examples of that dish I have had. For mains I and my son-in-law went for the rabbit, the dish comprising of loin and also something described as rabbit leg pie. The pie turned out to be confit rabbit leg in a shallow earthenware dish topped with mashed potato, much like a cottage or shepherd's pie. This was an excellent way of presenting a different aspect of the animal together with the carbohydrate for the meal. My wife had the duck confit while my daughter had fish. Both dishes were described as excellent and a quick tasting confirmed the same. Pudding was restricted to just two choices comprising as our dining party was comfortably replete. The two chosen were a dark chocolate fondant and the Espresso crème brûlée. Both wonderfully decadent with sharp flavours mixing together to enhance each other. The wines as usual were excellent. Not an inexpensive evening out but for somebody who does a lot of international travel eating in many fine restaurants in various capital cities around the world my opinion is that the Fox dining rooms can hold its head up high even in such August company.

This is my second time to Foxhills and won't be my last . I came here with my 88 yr old mother for a bit of peace and Christmas cheer. Luis and the reception staff were very attentive changing my room so my mum would not have to engage stairs, also giving us a buggy ride around the grounds to avoid the walk. We had family and friends for dinner for 2 nights at the lovely Fox restaurant which was lovely as well as breakfast each day . The lit fires in the lounge and Christmas trees provided just the experience we were looking for . See you next time . Nick Croydon

My husband and I stayed here for the Sunday retreat on 23rd November as a birthday present from our boys. We had such a lovely time. The staff were all so friendly and made us feel so welcome! From the wonderful gentleman who greeted us to the friendly staff in the restaurant.

Absolutely brilliant experience, fantastic service, polite staff. I was in Room 12 in the courtyard and my daughter was in Room 45. The courtyard room 12 was lovely but room 45 was exceptional - in fact superb, beautifully decorated and spacious. The bed was fantastic, so comfortable and every detail was perfect, the selection of drinks and biscuits was second to none, the finish of the room was so welcoming. I compliment Ursula Offord, Natalia and Louis on their attention to detail and service, it was truly amazing, they really did care about our experience and made sure we were happy at all times. Once again room 45 was simply the best and the whole hotel was so warm, friendly and welcoming, we will definitely be returning to this marvellous place again.

We booked at the last minute to celebrate our wedding anniversary. On arrival, the excellent front of house team of Ursula, Abbie and Evie gave us a wonderful welcome and upgraded our room to a suite. The room was immaculate and extremely comfortable. The spa was excellent and dinner in the Fox restaurant faultless. Breakfast was equally good. There wasn’t a fault throughout our stay and all the staff and facilities were superb. We will definitely be returning to this brilliant family owned hotel
