My stay at the ibis Mackay Airport was necessary due to the cancellation of my flight. The front counter Team Member Savannah did all that she was able to do to enable my stay even though they were fully booked. When I was told that accommodation would not be available I opted to wait until the airline contacted me to advise what had been arranged. After waiting for over 30 minutes Savannah advised that the situation had changed and that I could be accommodated for the night. The friendliness and concern of Savannah over my plight my very apparent. Consequently, I was greatly impressed with the service along with the quality of the rooms, service & restaurant facilities. Well done and I would strongly recommend the ibis Mackay

For 250 dollars a night the hotel offers very poor value for money. The beds are small, the rooms need a freshen, there were issues with the cleanliness. It seems to have lost sight of meeting the needs of average holiday makers and caters more to contract workers. It was the worst hotel I have stayed in In the whole of Queensland, the room wasn't clean, toiletries were empty, bedding dirty and toe and fingernails from a previous guest scattered on the balcony when we checked in. The general manager only works till 2 and no one in the staff is empowered to offer service recovery so we had to plead for some sort of redress the next day and ended up with a 100 dollar food credit. It takes me a long time to earn 500 dollars and this hotel took that for granted. Maybe if I were part of a corporate contract more attention would have been given to me. A profoundly disappointing stay and a stain on the Accor brand - pun intended. Do not pay your own money to stay here. Dig a little deeper and there are some amazing and caring hotels in town which meet the needs of holidaymakers better.

Overall the experience was good but the service in the Restaurant was pretty poor with one night having to wait a hour for my meal as they had missed my order...the 2nd night was half an hour which was a bit better but still too long for a restaurant
