The following is the e-mail I sent to Mr. Nick Squires, General Manager of the Kimpton Taconic following our group's visit last week. Mr. Nick Squire I just received your e-mail thanking me and my group for staying in your hotel. I feel compelled to thank you and your staff for making our stay so comfortable and pleasant. Our group consists of former US Air Force officers who travel to a new destination annually to renew acquaintances, experience new places, and to have fun. I normally don't respond to letters of appreciation, but your hotel and staff merit an exception. Even though all on the hotel staff were exceptional, I wanted you to know about specific members who stood out. I'm sure there were more, but the following are a few who went over and above to make our reunion one of the best we've ever experienced. First, was Ms. Lucrecia Johnson who went out of her way to find a wheelchair for one of our party. Lucrecia didn't have to search for the chair and dust it off for us, but she did. There were other "extras" I attribute to her but in general she anticipated our every need and took action to solve whatever problem we had. Next, I would like you to know that your desk staff is among the best we've encountered. Specifically, I would cite Andrew and Matt. (Sorry, I didn't get last names). When we were forced to alter our second day itinerary, Andrew helped us make decision on timing, routes, etc. Then, on our final evening, one of our group came down with heat exhaustion and we thought might not be able to travel. Matt looked up routes to the hospital in Bennington, printed a map, and helped in other ways as we were dealing with a possible trip to the hospital. Thankfully, we didn't need to make the trip, but we could have, thanks to Matt. Another one of your friendly and helpful staff is a housekeeper by the name of Mary. She saw to it that we had fresh linens even when we forgot to ask. She took the initiative to recognize when we were running low in all amenities and took care of us. Finally, one member of our group reported a wobbly toilet and a dripping faucet. She told me that your master engineer responded to the call and fixed the two items plus took care of a couple of other work orders he noticed in the room. All the above are a credit to your staff members and to management as well. I learned in the military that the best thing a manager can do is instill a sense of "taking the initiative" in his/her subordinates. We saw that attitude throughout your hotel. Thank you and them from all of your Air Force guests. John Moore P.S. My one regret is that I was not able to meet you personally. Perhaps another time.

On our way at to Maine and stayed in Manchester Vermont. What a lovely town. I didn’t want to leave and will definitely go back. The hotel was very accommodating and we had a wonderful dinner. The rooms were nice and clean. It was just a wonderful experience.

As Kimpton super-fans, my wife Cecilia and I have been to some amazing Kimpton hotels around the world (including the Fitzroy in London, Seafire in Grand Cayman, the Armory in Bozeman and the new luxury resort in Roatan) and the Taconic is right up there at the top of the list of our favorites. This place is the total package - luxurious accommodations decked out with a cozy New England bed and breakfast vibe, an amazing restaurant in the Copper Grouse and first class service. As frequent guests of the Taconic, the entire staff treats us like longtime friends and goes way above and beyond to make sure that each stay is better than the last. Special shout outs to GM Nick, guest services managers Lucretia and Ann, engineering supervisor Mike and Kristin and Brett from the Copper Grouse. The housekeeping staff is excellent as well, as they found a puzzle piece that we left behind in our room and arranged for its return. Our most recent stay in early September was absolutely amazing - as we were there to celebrate Cecilia’s birthday, the guest services team provided a generous room upgrade, a bottle of bubbly and other goodies. There’s no better place to celebrate special occasions at the Taconic and we are looking forward to our next visit during early November for our anniversary!

My family and I had a fantastic stay at the Taconic, high marks all around. A special thanks to Andrew who checked us in. He was friendly and helpful, and even remembered my name the next day after just one interaction. I've stayed 40+ nights this year across IHG, Hyatt and Marriott and think the Taconic check in experience stands out as one of the only ones I can actually remember thanks to him.

Set on a beautiful landscape this gem of a place has all three comfort. From friendly supportive staff will are always always there to help you. They have small little treats set out for you all over the hotel and you can just sit back and relax. I wanted to say special thanks to Joe who was there to help me out to reach the airport to catch an early morning flight, which was out of town and with no Uber around.

A very nicely appointed hotel and a very typical New England town on a very quiet New England Main Street. The room was adequate in size and had a Mountain View. this property with its proximity to ski resorts and foliage must be quite the place in the fall in the winter. The on-site restaurant is so good that we took in three meals there and each one was better than the next fantastic food. The chef is both creative specific. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Once again you can’t go wrong and a Kimpton/IHG parking was plentiful on site close to the hotel being that it’s not an urban location that’s to be expected, if you can do not miss this one

Beautiful boutique hotel close to shopping, fly fishing, golf, and many varied wonderful restaurants. Front desk staff was friendly, helpful and represented Kimpton very well. We had a credit card compromised and the card issuer was giving me a lot of problems with replacement. The ladies at the front desk and Lucrecia patiently helped me while I was trying to deal with incorrect information from my card issuer. They went above and beyond every expectation and made my annoyance with the card issuer easier to handle. A large well appointed room with a comfy bed and every amenity I could want. Side lawn with the beautiful pool and a few lawn games was enjoyable. Large porch with rockers was so relaxing! Social hour was a great time to meet and mingle with fellow travellers. Definitely try the Copper Grouse restaurant at the hotel and the nearby Silver Fork restaurant. Mulligans pub across the road is fun and definitely worth the visit. Don't miss the Orvis flagship store and outlet just down the street. Lots of walkability here.

I booked a room on line, we walked in and the reception was very nice. The first appearance Of the reception area was beautiful and very welcoming. When we arrived in our room , it was absolutely beautiful!! When we went into the restaurant Copper Grouse they were also very nice . Food was good and didn’t have to wait long for our meal. When we checked out, Again the women at the front desk was amazing. Check out was easy! Later that day I realized I left my cooler in the fridge. I called Back and spoke with Luke who was the manager of house cleaning. He also was very sweet and sent out my cooler right away . The same day I called. Again amazing experience at the Taconic Kimpton Hotel!! Thank you to all!!! Sandra (Boston)
