Getting to this property is a long bumpy and sometimes dusty ride into the vast Masai Mara region, but it is worth the effort. After you are greeted with a cool wet towel, you enter the large main lodge with lots of lounge-y seating areas as well as the main dining room. They all over look a large green area with a swimming pool, all set against the Maru River. A real treat is to see herds of hippos lying in the river. If you try, you can see them get up and leave to feed when the sun goes down. The service at the Camp is superb. They offer to bring hot chocolate, coffee or tea and something sweet to you with a wake up call. They will prepare you a lunch box if your plans have you off premises - and they work with your guide to make sure it is on your vehicle before you are. All the food is world class in quality and presentation. We particularly liked our bartender Kikiu, our waitress (for all meals) Daisy, Sharon who works at the front desk. Laundry service and alcoholic beverages are included. The tent itself is fully amenitized - double sinks, a shower that feels like you’re outdoors, robes and slippers. The turndown service includes hot water bottles to toast up the bed for you. It is clean, comfortable and cozy. And of course, comes with its own view of the river and hippos. Neptune Mara Rianta is a first class property with top notch dining and staff. It was a true pleasure to stay there for a few nights - we honestly did not want to leave. I would highly recommend the property and would stay nowhere else if I were in the area.
