We'd stayed in Marrakesh before in a hotel just outside the main city walls. After some trips inside the Medina, we decided our next stay should be in a Riad, The Karmela is a beautiful Riad, very comfortable with a varied assortment of rooms split around the three buildings that make up this Riad.. Best advice would be to be book a taxi / transfer direct with the Riad, there's nothing on the outside or nearby streets & alleys to suggest the Riad is there. There is a barber shop at the end of the alley, a useful marker if you find yourself lost. Once inside though it definitely has the wow factor, a fantastic place tucked away. Our room was up on the first floor, with an adjacent staircase upto the roof garden / dining area, The staff are very friendly and really look after you. We ate at the on site restaurant a few times, the food was some of the best we ate in Marrakesh. The menu had a few set choices & varied over the week. There was also some entertainment provided during evening meals during the week too. A very talented guitarist.
