A v good hostel!! Comfortable bed, clean bathroom, safe security. The hostel has a shared kitchen with plenty seats, and a bar with fair price drinks. The location of the hostel is v good, 5 min walk to the bus station and 8 min to tram. The reception have a s storage room, if u check out early, u can still store the luggage there and have fun before leaving. Strongly recommend!!

Liked the hotel. Not far from the port, easy to find. Large kitchen. There is everything you need. The room has individual lockers. The bed is clean. There is a toilet and a shower in the room. I advise. Would you like to have curtains on the bed?

The location is very good as it is close to Marseille. Not too cheap for a hostel price. The bed was old but the bed cover was clean. staff were very friendly In particular, check-out is at 10:00 am the next day, and bag storage is a really good service.

Location is the most redeeming factor. Facilities are alright, rooms are good enough. Staff pretty unhelpful other than one guy in particular that helped us with our checkout. Overall if you could find a different place to stay as close to the port I would probably choose a different spot.

Decent facilities, fairly disorganized and messy kitchen and common rooms. Staff were not very pleasant to talk to, asking for advice on how to access the national parks was met with very short answers and seemed like he didn’t want to talk to me. Would recommend staying somewhere else for anyone planning on visiting marseilles. The only redeeming factor for this hostel is the location which is very close to the old port.

A friendly and welcoming hostel that's great for all ages. I stayed in a twin room with my boyfriend for 4 nights and enjoyed it very much. It could do with a little TLC here and there but all things easily fixed. Good: • location brilliant (near main attractions and very close to a good Lidl) • staff great • communal spaces allowed for meeting others and mingling • fab Aircon in our room • nice to have an outside area Need improving: • The €6 (optional) breakfast isn't worth it (baguette, few bits of cheese, tea/coffee) needs more on offer • cooking facilities not easy to use (induction hobs) • needs more cutlery, plates etc • communal sofas need replacing as they're a bit run down • WIFI patchy

Overall, good value for money for Marseille prices but there's still an opportunity for lots of improvement.

We booked a twin room. It’s simple, but clean and spacious. The location is great, very close to the old port.

A quaint hostel located less than a 10 minutes walk to downtown and the metro. The staff are very friendly and speak a variety of languages. The rooms are fine for a hostel. Nothing out of the ordinary and if you've lived with siblings you'll feel right at home with the bunk beds. There are plenty of things to do near the hostel especially if you enjoy bars and a nightlife.

As with most hostels I've visited around Europe, you can always make some good and bad points about them all, with most of the bad ones easily avoidable, and Vertigo is no different. The hostel itself is very good and in an excellent location just 5 minutes from the harbour and 8 minutes from the metro. The staff were very friendly and the manager helped me when I had a complaint. My initial room was B0 which should be avoided at all costs as it's directly above where the loud music is played nightly. My second room when I complained I couldn't get to sleep because of the music was B1 which is only next door and still in earshot of the loud music, if a little better. There was a private party on the first night and it was Halloween on the second so I got no sleep at all. If this is something that would also bother you then stay away from these two rooms! There was a shower and basin in my room but the toilet was outside which was a little strange, it was still 24 degrees even in November but they did not have the air conditioning on and the rooms were stifling. In B0 when you had the window open for a bit of comfort you then had to listen to the outside traffic as well as the loud music. I also had trouble every night with the key card as it never worked when trying to get back into my room at night and I had to visit the reception every time to get it reprogrammed. There were lockers and night lights provided within the room. The breakfast was rather plain and costs an extra 6 Euros and was aimed mainly at French guests as it solely consisted of baguettes, cheese, ham, butter, jam, biscuits, orange juice and a machine serving coffee, tea, cappachino and chocolate. There are communal areas along with kitchen utensils and the use of fridge freezers.
