Property: Nestled in the forests of Matheran, this colonial structure stands among ancient trees. Despite the summer heat, the location remains cool and tranquil. Situated nearly a kilometer from Matheran station, just off the carpark to Matheran road, it offers an escape from the market's bustle, though walking is necessary to reach the market. The expansive room features a shared veranda with views of the swimming pool and the forest beyond. However, it lacks basic amenities, such as cupboards or storage, quickly leading to clutter from unpacked weekend luggage. The sizable WC has very basic facilities; the space could be better utilized, but it seems the intent is simply to provide a living area. The swimming pool is modest but adequate. The staff is polite and promptly addresses all your needs. Upon entering the room, the initial feeling of elation quickly fades as you begin to face the issues one after another. The courteous staff and lovely surrounding somehow compensate the lack of design and facilities in the room. There is a restaurant that serves vegetarian food only. You can, however order non-vegetarian dishes and consume in your room or the verandah. The staff provides the cutlery. They even provide ice for a small sum. Considering there are few places in Matheran that offer better in a similar budget, the hotel is still good. Just keep your expectations on a budget.
