We stayed twice in November and December. There was only a new hotel and it was clean and comfortable. There was a large TV in the room and I could see a powerful image. The public bath was also very good. I thought it was crowded at night and used it early in the morning, so it was almost rental. The staff at the breakfast venue, the staff at the cleaning staff, and the front desk 々 were very kind and had a great stay to heal fatigue. Only there were not many taxis nearby, and when I called, I had to have a considerable time margin.

Very conveniently located near the station. Check-in and check-out are basically self-service, but it's hard to tell at first glance. The front desk staff were quite cold (although they were a bit unfriendly, the service itself was good, which was nice).
Breakfast was also self-service, and to simplify operations, all the cutlery and cups were disposable, which surprised me in a bad way. The value for money and location were good, but I would hesitate to use it again.

About 5 minutes walk from the station. Matsumoto at this time has a high accommodation fee. At the time of booking, I used a 2K coupon for 14K on a certain cat site. After that, the price fell to about 12K and it was about the same as the non-application of the coupon, but it was unlikely to fall any further, so I left it with an early reservation. There is a suspicion of double price. Is it a good example to be careful when booking coupon distribution time? Since it is a Dormy Inn, the level of breakfast is high. Soba is a type that you order and make. Since it is located in the center of Matsumoto, you don't have to worry about eating out or convenience stores. Also, I think the point is that the large communal bath is a hot spring. It is a weak alkaline spring, but it seems to be a source of market price.

I used it for a family trip during the spring break. There is a charge because I came by car, but I was able to park in the parking lot and go sightseeing at Matsumoto Castle and Matsumoto Station. It's a good walk course. The parking lot and the front desk 々 were all kind. The room was newly renewed so it was very clean and I was grateful that almost all the equipment I needed was available. The breakfast at Gust was delicious. I would like to stay when I visit Nagano Prefecture from now on

Less than 5 minutes walk from JR station, my moderate twin room is very spacious and comes with a work desk. Beddings are very comfortable and plenty of amenities are provided. They even have complimentary supper service at night. We didn't get to try the breakfast but they look great with a lot of varieties. This is a great place to stay in Matsumoto.

When I booked the hotel, the reviews made me think that it would be good but not amazing. However I was really disappointed. Although not terrible, this hotel was below my standard. Within a short walk to the amazing Matsumoto Castle, the hotel seemed like a nice historic place to stay and enjoy. The hotel itself is rather plain and uninteresting. The room was big but not cozy or really comfortable. The elevator smelled like gasoline as did the basement floor where the women's bath is located. The public baths are small and uninteresting as well. We did not eat dinner here. The breakfast buffet was good. Now, on to the service. Although not rude, the service was cold and overly rule oriented. Although I realize the check-in time is 15:00, most places will not hold on to this dogmatically and to the minute. In other words, if the room is available then let your guests settle in. On this day it was raining, constant and hard, so most guests were cold and wet when they arrived as we were. At 14:10 when I asked if our room was ready the lady at the front dest pretended to check her watch and just no, please wait until 15:00. She didn't check if rooms were ready, but rather preferred the strict rule and have guests, many with children, sit around cold and wet in the lobby. Rules are more important than your customers. I don't agree with that. It is below my standard. On to breakfast, schedule to start at 6:30. We arrive at 6:28 and the lady (different lady) rather aggressively told us to go sit in the lobby rather that stand and wait for 2 minutes. That 2 minutes before 6:30 seemed very offensive for her. So when it came to parking no person came out to greet us or help us. Not normal or good. However I parked in front and headed in, then I was approached and told that I should not park there. Not sure why, but I asked where and was told that there is a parking lot around the corner. So I headed out to the car and started to move when I was approached and told that the parking lot was full. So I asked where I should park and was told that sorry the parking lot was full. So can I stay here? No. Where? the parking lot is full. So where do I park? The parking lot is now full, maybe some people will leave. I got fed up and just walked back into the hotel. A man then said that if I give him my key he will move my car when more spaces open up. Thank you. The next morning, my car was still there, had not been moved, and other cars were parked around me. That was not good reception. Below my standards. Dogmatic adherence to rules is more important than guests. Politeness does not hide that. Below my standards. Disappointed I cannot recommend this hotel.

The name of Marunouchi is in Matsumoto Castle. The hotel is quite large with three windows. There is a sofa and coffee table at the corner. The area where the tea is rested is separated from the bedroom. The clerk was very enthusiastic. At noon, he took us to the opposite gift shop to buy wooden dolls and Xinzhou specialty products. It is not about 15 minutes from the JR station. When I leave the store, I choose a taxi in the hot weather, but it is JPY880. It is also a 15-minute walk from the Matsumoto City Art Museum and a special exhibition of Yayoi Yayoi’s birthplace.

I walked from Kita Matsumoto Station to the hotel. 7 minutes? It is a walk arrival. The woman at the front desk had a smile and there was no unpleasant impression. The room was a room with Matsumoto Jo castle on the top floor. Especially at night Matsumoto Jo castle was the best and clean. The room size is a bit small, but I think it is reasonable to think of the price. The public bath is the feeling that it is said to be a small bath. 5 people are full if they enter. Moreover, there was no corona countermeasure at all. It is a breakfast restaurant, but it uses tong in the form of Viking, but the corona countermeasure is halfway and it is not possible. Use of disposable gloves for decadac and finger disinfection at the entrance properly. I didn't use several sets of disposable gloves. The employee doesn't know the face. In addition, there are couples who do not have a mask and are surprised. I think it is better to use care on the hygiene side because it is such a time. Dinner was surprisingly close to Matsumoto station.

Stayed on weekdays. It is a great inn with parking lots and hot springs. The day I stayed was 8 the view bath on the floor was assigned to the man hot water. On the 8 floor, there are open-air baths and jacuzzi, and during the daytime, the distant view is enjoyed, and there is a body in the hot spring. The next morning, when I asked for a departure, I brought the car to the entrance and prepared it. Next time I will come to enjoy only hot water slowly. Thank you for your care.

Outstanding
Mmoko8888I stayed for two consecutive nights a week before the closing of the Kamitakachi mountain. I thought it was more quiet, but it was surprising that there were many tourists because of the warm winter. The hotel is a short walk from the Kapa Bridge, but it is a nice tattoo that is naturally taken in a quiet environment. The lobby and room are simple but not a safe, but a quality atmosphere. I chose a Japanese style room, but the ceiling was higher than I thought, and the use around the water was good. The front desk and the staff at the restaurant were really great and they were with a 2 year old child, but they were able to spend a luxury time with their 70-year-old parents. Among the hotels in the upper highlands, it was very satisfying for 2 days with a luxurious meal that doesn't seem to be in the mountains despite the relatively affordable price. It is a pity that the bath is not a hot spring, but when I go to Kamitakachi again, I talk to my parents that it is decided by the Alpine Hotel.
GGuest UserIt’s our first trip to Nagano and we wanted to stay at some place convenient. Chanced upon Cafe & Stay CASTANA and what a gem it was ! It’s very easy to locate and right next to a huge Tsuruya Supermarket and walking distance to restaurants, shops etc. Everything was right at our doorstep! The Awaji room we booked had 3 single beds and it’s very clean and almost brand new since it just opened in 2019 and right after was the pandemic. There is a small fridge, microwave oven, kettle, cutleries and bowls, plates and everything you need for a comfortable stay. The room also has a small dining table so we can easily buy food from Tsuruya to reheat and eat if we feel too tired to explore out. The in-house Cafe is also cozy and tastefully decorated and there are a huge range of magazines on traveling etc. The coffee was fantastic as well. Kaneda San, Sachie San and the entire Castana team are very friendly and helpful with recommendations and great restaurant reservations! Kaneda San also spoke perfect English too. We had a great stay in Castana and a wonderful time in Nagano ! With this price point and very convenient location, it’s really hard to beat! We will happily recommend to anyone and will not hesitate to be back the next time we travel to Nagano again :) Thank you for everything, Team Castana !
GGuest UserI was surprised to find such a cozy space even though it was not far from the city. The exterior of the facility is showing its age, but once you step inside, that image will disappear. Heartwarming customer service from employees. It's a small inn, so it's possible to be attentive. I am satisfied with both the quality and quantity of the food. The sake was delicious and I ended up drinking too much. I was grateful for the shuttle service I received on my way there and back, and I was able to hear a lot of interesting stories on the train, which made me feel very lucky. I would like to visit again if I want to meet the landlady.
The pictures do not look like the rooms we new we were staying at a Ryokan as we had stayed in Hakone. No comparison this is a bare bones place. Oh they have a pianist play late evening but the room is awful two chairs and a table beds are made up when at dinner. The Onsen is hard to use as no where to hang a towel without it getting wet. No food mid day only breakfast and lunch. By the the city is shut down on Wednesdays. Would not recommend to no Japanese.
Vv35p_tripThis is located about 5 minutes walk from Matsumoto Station Ojoguchi, and there is a convenience store, but it is in a quiet location. I think the basic structure of the hotel is old, but it is usually clean. To the front desk for check-in‥‥the front desk felt style, classic flowing and was usually a good response. The room uses a card key to enter. The bathroom toilet in the room is a bit spacious, but there is also a washlet, usually clean and amenities and attached facilities in the room are normal. (The slippers were made of cloth. There was also a refrigerator, dryer and electric kettle (no security box)) The bed was a wide single bed and the height of the pillow was just right. The network had wi-hi and sometimes felt a little slow. The meal was handmade and boream and delicious. It was a quiet, comfortable, convenient and cost-effective hotel.
MmachidanokumaIt is a hot spring inn near the mountain entrance of Nishi Hotaka Dake. This time, I used the day trip hot spring after going down to the mountain, but I was working on the infection countermeasures firmly. Thank you for this time. Most of the users of the day trip hot springs were climbers. I would like to stay next time.
Sscottpearce94This is a really good place to stay if you’re looking for a cheap Ryokan. Staff are super friendly, but unfortunately don’t speak much English. However, you can get by with google translate. There is an Onsen that is shared amongst the guests, however you can flip a sign on the door to mark it as occupied so you can use it alone. The only real downside is that the staff clean around 9-10am in the morning. So if you’re looking for a peaceful sleep in this probably isn’t the best stay for you. Though If you’re an early riser and like to try different types of hostels this place is going to be perfect. They also have free hire bikes you can use to get around.
KKvaldirThe location is very great with all the nature around. The htoel. Has a little shop as well, but ofcourse the best thing about the hotel is the onsen. The onsen is open 24/7,so you can make use of it whenever you want. The resutaurant closes relatively early, and you must reserve it, but otherwise you can buy some very affordable microwave food in the shoop, and they will warm it up for you, so that was a great service. Great place!
GGuest UserNo shower available inside the room, we need to use the hot spring. However, the water was not hot enough! I found two Japanese ladies use both indoor and outdoor hot spring just for few minutes and then left with disappointment.
The food qualities of both dinner and breakfast were not up to the standards of “Onsen” hotels in Japan at this price level I had gone before. Unfortunately this hotel is the only one available for booking on Trip.com near the area of Kamicochi. Will not recommend to anyone.
