Friendly staff & were fortunate enough to check-in early, which was appreciated. Security staff were welcoming whenever we came into contact with them. The room had a partial ocean view but looked across a noisy road which wasn’t relaxing. It was large with a huge bed. The shower & bathroom area were spacious. There are only shelves & a hanging rail to place clothing which is concealed by some rather unpleasant looking sliding homemade curtains. There is a good sized safe. Only 2 x 3-pin sockets in the room (one underneath the desk which powers the tv so if coming from the UK bring a European adapter as there are more 2-pin sockets. There is a mini fridge. You can hire a reusable bottle which is refundable on check out. We brought our own as theirs were old & manky. Guests have to refill their own bottles from 2 water fountains. All Inclusive is unnecessarily convoluted; not at all customer focused. Rather than a simple AI wristband system, guests give their room number upon order & wait to sign a receipt. If the hotel is trying to be ‘eco friendly’ they could eradicate the need for so much paper by invoking a simpler system? The AI room ‘mini bar’ options are 2 bottles of either beer or soft drink p.p.p.d. To obtain these, guests must go the shop each day, select & sign a receipt. There is further inconvenience when the shop was either closed, (when it should have been open), or it hadn’t been restocked. There is a small gym, with a variety of equipment to enable a reasonable workout. Nice pool areas, although very busy, so not relaxing. There seemed to be large parties of non residents present on occasions, who possibly pay a ‘day rate’ to have lunch & use of the pool? This hugely increased the overall noise & general busyness of the place. There appeared to be only one poolside shower & no foot shower, which would have been handy if you come in off the beach & want to wash the sand from your feet. Our biggest disappointment & frustration was the main restaurant; primarily buffet service. Food is varied with some good choices. However, we found some to be bland & needing extra flavour. There seemed to be a real lack of regular monitoring of food levels. Containers were often empty & took a long time to be replenished, even after physically locating a member of staff to ask. Overall, the food area had a grubby, sticky & unhygienic look & feel to it. There were no bottles of hand sanitisers anywhere inside the restaurant buffet areas, apart from as you enter it. We found this incredulous given the amount of hand contact required by guests with utensils & the potential to pass on germs. Due to their ‘eco’ credentials there are no single use items available such as butter packs or sugar sachets, instead everything is in one container such as a large block of butter with one knife that in constant use, (again, questionable hygiene standards). Inevitably popular food items like butter, milk, fresh fruit & bacon were virtually always either

We stayed in the Moringa Lodge for two nights as part of a two week holiday. The bubbles are absolutely brilliant - the setting is beautiful (in the forest overlooking a lake), they're really well set up with a comfy bed, robes, tea & coffee, AC and they gave us a bottle of bubbles on arrival. We particularly liked the (private) outdoor shower. The ability to see stars and the moon from the bed is something really special, as is the resort itself - it truly is a beautiful place and the animals wandering about just add to the feeling of being somewhere special. It was great to visit the tea factory and do the tea tasting but I’m not sure I’d recommend it without the stay - it was fairly simple. As other reviewers have said, the dinner set up is a bit odd. The food was nice enough but we didn't love eating in a mostly empty restaurant - it didn't feel super relaxing. For breakfast, I felt they could have explained the options a bit better - I had a totally different breakfast experience on the second morning with a different member of staff who offered me a variety of things vs the first day. The other - and bigger - issue for me was that there were so many mosquitos. I know the resort can't help this but if you're someone who gets bitten easily I'd think twice about staying here. It just meant I couldn't sit outside on the deck to relax as I got so badly bitten the first afternoon. Perhaps the hotel could provide bug spray in the room which would help. This could have just been the time of year we visited (December) but it wasn't rainy season (yet).

When we had checked in we got a tasteful fruit drink. Good breakfast with omelette. The room was rather large. Next morning I found a small visitor in the bathroom. He looked like a long shoestring. Probably he had climb troth the drain. But I don’t like snakes and worms and especially not in the bedroom. He was discreet and he didn't make any sound, when I approached, but he didn’t understand, that he would leave. We trew him out of the window. It ended with a flight that he probably won't forget. Perhaps it was not so kind to do so. The hotel is situated in the centre of the town and near the market. The Metro stops only around 100 meters from the hotel.

Prices of hotels in Mauritius can be high, especially those to the coast. Palms Horel offered a quite good solution in Quatre Bornes: it’s affordable (about 60 EUR a night) and not that far from more touristic places (about 30 min drive to the Capital, Port Louis, or the beaches of Flic en Flac). We were there for a 1-week business meeting. Facilities were very good. And any issues (happened) were very quickly solved by the staff …the staff (all, from the reception desk to the hotel manager) is definitely the key of Palms. Incredibly nice and helpful. The lady managing the meeting room area (and the coffee breaks) is a gem. The man and lady keeping the bar, the ladies in the restaurant and those at the reception were so nice. The Hotel staff was so helpful to accommodate on short notice for our Muslim colleagues who started the fasting of Ramadan during the meeting). And all issues linked to payment supposed to be done in advance (meeting room, 17 bedrooms) were dealt with in full confidence when on site! Thank you for that Ms Manager! Big Thanks to the Palms Hotel staff who made possible our very successful meeting! I fully recommend
The room was very comfortable, the conditions were good, and the price was really high. Not very famous, the taxi driver has been looking for a long time.
