This is a lovely small hotel, with modern rooms, good aircon, great service. Lovely breakfast (€16 pp per day) great choice. Staff lovely. Food can be ordered via bar staff for lunch/snacks. Cost is similar to cafes for lunch. Mini fridge is stocked with water and a few soft drinks. A lot of people have mentioned there is a supermarket across the road for drinks/snacks/lunch and toiletries etc. This has been very helpful to us, as South of France is £££ and we couldn’t afford to pay for lunch and dinner at a restaurant every day (3 adults, one teen). This hotel is an excellent stay for sightseeing. Train station is 15 min walk. We have been to Monte Carlo, Cannes, Ventimiglia and Eze by train. Next 2 stops will be Nice and Antibes. Trains v busy but after a while you can get a seat. Aircon on trains. You need your passport on trains as police will ask (border town). 20 min walk along La Sablettes beach into town centre. You can also walk up steps into the old town which is so pretty and the church is up there. Many restaurants are available along La Sablettes and town. Beach restaurants are £££ so we only ordered one course each and some sides. They are great for a quick meal after a sightseeing day , as your feet will be tired! Can recommend Caesar on beach front. Trattoria in the business district is great food and more high end, about a 30 min walk. The restaurants on Victoria Square (main tourist area) in Menton are very busy and in one restaurant it took two hours to get food (1 hour to order it!). Saturday night is very busy, lots of places pre-booked. Main problem is (small) pool area. We only wanted to use it on rest days. Around 12/13 sun beds and hotel is now at capacity, it is absolutely packed. People putting towels on the floor and sitting on bar chairs. People reserving sun beds from very early am. Pool area over-capacity. Clearly some groups do not ever leave the hotel, but it really doesn’t have capacity for a ‘fly and flop’ type holiday. So pool a bit defunct for us, which is a shame on rest days. Also the hotel is next to a busy road and you can smell the car fumes by the pool. I had to take my asthma inhaler on the one day we achieved sun beds by the pool. You can pay €35 pp per day to join a private beach club on the beach. This is exclusive of food! We are here to sightsee so didn’t bother with this. This is a beautiful, clean, well-serviced hotel with lovely staff and great service. But if pool time on your rest days it’s important to you, you may find it difficult to achieve this.
Very Good
