Centro de Merida
The hotel is very comfortable, modern, chic and clean The staff is super friendly and accommodating. They allowed us to check in a bit earlier as our room was ready and we had an early arrival to Merida in the Maya train from Cancún (highly recommended experience too!). We were welcomed with a glass of ice-cool water which was perfect as the weather was much hotter than anticipated in Merida. The pool was super refreshing, the toiletries and bedlinen beautiful and the whole place is an oasis in the middle of a very central street, close to everything yet quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend!
Wayam Mundo Imperial

The Wayam hotel is ideally located for tourism at the well known Colón Ave. near down town, just a couple of blocks away from the new convention center. Rooms are beautiful and wide, very comfortables, just make sure you are not facing the avenue as traffic’s noise comes up. Pool on the 4th floor has a beautiful view but too cold. All personnel is very friendly but still too new and untrained for the hotel standards. Still, too new to be great and a bit overpriced but Management is eager to improve.

This places is lovely. Understand, though, that some of the super old furniture is worn. I was there for a month and switched back and forth between two rooms. The first room was a standard double. (The room pics I provide are all of this room). It was a lovely room. The bathroom didn’t make sense though. It was the tiniest bathroom I’ve ever been in. The pic shows the sink and the toilet. Across from that, there’s a shower. the room above this one has the same configuration as the one shown, but the sink is outside of the bathroom, which makes the entry/sitting area of the room more pleasant. I chose not Ask to move upstairs because it’s also hotter upstairs than downstairs… and the bathroom configuration wasn’t that big a deal to me. The first room was overlooking Calle 60. It was a bit noisy on some nights. I actually preferred my smaller room to the bigger suite. Something about it just felt nicer. It needed more comfy dining chairs for the little tea table though. The second room I stayed in was a suite with two double beds. (I am not posting pics of that one because there are too many personal items in the pics I have of that room). It was the corner suite facing both Calle 60 and overlooking the park in front of the hotel. IT WAS NOISY. The second room had more light, More room, and a much better bathroom configuration (toilet and shower inside, sink outside the bathroom). It also had a couch and lounging Chair as well as much better (and much older) furniture. By “better” I mean beautifully worked, with more storage space/specialized storage. However, the floor in the second room (the suite) was really badly damaged over by the bathroom. So from the door the room looks pretty much perfect. Over by the bathroom it looks run down. And that’s just how this place is. That’s why I say it’s like staying in someone’s grandma’s house. Beautiful, comfy, clean, but it’s clearly been used. There are rooms that have newer furniture, but understand that this is an old hotel. ITS GORGEOUS but if you expect everything to be new looking, then don’t stay here. I think they are renovating, but I’m not sure. I hope that they keep the furniture and just have if restored as best as possible. They should also restore the broken tiles. IMO restoration of the tiles and professionally filling nicks in wood would do wonders for these rooms. If I were to give this place a review just based on the look of it I would give it a 4. 3 for the condition and 5 for the beauty and ambience. I am giving it a 5 for three reasons: 1. It’s just gorgeous, 2. It felt like was staying in someone’s home… very peaceful… inviting… comfortable and 3. The staff. Come to think about it, they probably are the reason the place felt so comfortable. They seemed efficient and were pleasant, helpful people. There seemed not to be tension between staff members and pretty much everyone seemed to like their work. The hotel is also in

I stayed at this hotel at the beginning and end of my trip to Progreso, February 28th and March 30th, as I was arriving late and departing early. Both of my rooms were impeccably clean, the amenities were provided and well stocked with towels. The closets are huge and contain an iron and a safe large enough for a laptop. Upon my first check-in I was advised the hours of the restaurant and was politely asked that if I was planning on bringing in food or alcohol from outside to please consume it in my room and not in the restaurant. This is not an unreasonable request, one would not walk into a hotel restaurant at home and sit down with a pizza and six pack. I had a comfortable night's rest and a delicious breakfast at the restaurant in the morning. Check out was noon and my ride was not arriving until 2:30 so they kindly stored my luggage and I enjoyed sitting by the pool while I waited. My second visit was for my return flight, I checked in just after 3:00 and was offered a wake up call and arrangement of a taxi to take me to the airport. I spent my last day of vacation enjoying a late lunch/early supper and a couple of cold beverages poolside before heading to my room to turn in early. My wake up call came precisely @4:00 and my taxi was there @5:00 as requested. I would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend it, the staff are outstanding, the hotel is spotless and the restaurant food and service are fabulous. Masks were required at all times in public areas, unless you were eating or drinking, this policy was adhered to by all staff and guests.

First, I have to say that we stayed in this hotel 3 years ago and it was a wonderful experience. Today it was something completely different. We had a 7 day reservation, and we ended up staying only 3 nights. We had to get away from an awful hotel experience, one of the worst. Day 1: 12.30 pm, restaurant closed, we were sent away despite being starved. Arrived at room which had a dirty bathroom floor. The most annoying thing: why the hell must every channel be in Spanish?? Do they not have any non-Spanish speaking guests?? Are we not entitled to watch TV? Day 2: we dared arrive 30 minutes before the breakfast buffet and all we got was cold disgusting food, not a drop left of orange juice, but we did get rude and inattentive service. We asked the front desk to call housekeeping to do a better job at cleaning. We got nothing, bathroom floor was still dirty and then left one lousy towel. 8.00 pm and we went for dinner and the damn restaurant was closed. They said they were fumigating Day 3: arrived at breakfast earlier this time, food was warm but disgusting and tasteless. The entire time nobody came to the table at all. And yes our bathroom floor was still dirty with only 2 miserable towels Day 4: we of course did not waste time at breakfast. We went out and came back at 3, our room was still not cleaned, we asked for it to be cleaned and we came back and they did a terrible job, bathroom floor dirty, empty water bottles not taken away. And here’s the straw that broke the camel’s back: They have this promo saying that happy hour, 2x1 on beers from 2.30 to 4.30, we went to the bar and the told us: “There is no beer of any brand and hence no promo”. We chose to leave this dumpster and then checked in at the Camino Real Hotel which is heaven on Earth. When checking out of the Hilton, the manager didn’t even have the courage of facing us and hear about our ordeal Stay away from Hilton Garden Inn. At least until they get their act together and realize if they keep this up they are heading to the bottom of the worst in Merida.
