We recently stayed at Felix Boutique Stays By Viadora and unfortunately had an unpleasant experience with the currency exchange. When we made our reservation, it was in US dollars. Upon arrival, we were charged in Mexican Pesos, which was expected given the location in Mexico City. However, the issue arose with the exchange rate used by the hotel. Instead of utilizing the interbank exchange rate of the day, we discovered that we were charged 500 pesos (Approximately $31 USD) more than the originally advertised price. When we questioned this with the person in charge, we were told that the exchange rate is set by their corporate offices, and there was nothing they could do. The frustration arose from the fact that while we were quoted a specific dollar amount, the inflated exchange rate set by the hotel resulted in an unexpected extra charge. Despite our attempts to reason with the staff, there was no resolution offered. This lack of transparency and unwillingness to rectify the situation is unacceptable. When a guest is quoted a price, it should be honored without additional unexpected charges. We feel disappointed by the dishonest practices of this hotel and will not be considering a return.
