This hotel is the best hotel that we stayed in on this trip . The onsen has an outdoor onsen that is truly beautiful overlooking the hills and valley of mount Aso. You need to walk about 50 m from the hotel to reach there . We had twin beds in the newly refurbished wing and everything was clean and new . Wifi was good . Temperature control good . Bathroom was adequately big with good water pressure . There was water dispenser and ice dispenser as well near the lifts . What made the stay special was the star gazing activity at night . Although we did not understand Japanese , the guide had a cool laser light that he pointed at the sky to point out the stars . We loved this activity . Food wise - lots of variety and very refined . Loved the delicious dinner and breakfast . What was lovely was the free flow of alcohol , juices and soft drinks throughout dinner . Will definitely stay here again .

Staffs were super friendly and helpful. Free pick-up service from the bus stop. As we arrived before check-in time, the driver dropped us at the main street and showed us where to eat and how to walk back to ryokan. The ryokan kindly offered us early check-in. Luggages were in the room already when we arrived. Front desk staff explained everything clearly. We could only book the private onsen once. Private onsen number one is a bit small, and the water was not hot enough, but the view is pretty with a small garden and rock mountain. I love the large outdoor onsen (for hotel guests only). Water was hot. Beutiful environment and great atmosphere. Changing room was clean and spacious. The smaller outdoor onsen is for public. Room was a bit old and simple, but it came with a cute balcony which I didn't expect. Food was great. Dinner was served in room, and breakfast was served in breakfast room. Overall a great ryokan experience.

Stayed for two nights, breakfast and dinner were not the same. By car, there is free parking. Stargazing at night, the sky is full of stars, see Orion, Big Dipper, Gemini and so on. There are not many hotel rooms and they are not open to the public. The three family soup rooms can basically be enjoyed, and each has a private soup for men and women, divided into outdoor and indoor. Drive to Kurokawa Onsen for 7 minutes and drive to Aso Volcano for 1 hour. Unfortunately, Aso volcano is still in a dangerous period from 2019 to the present.

The Manager and staff were amazing and so helpful - Probably the best service we had all trip from 7 different stays. We had the dining experience and not only was the food wonderful, they even change our food when we said we were scared of trying the Horse & Chicken Sashimi. The view from the in-room onsen was brilliant. If you want to be critical then its a 10min walk to the village centre but thats why we choose this Hotel plus we just drove to the village centre - so simple. I finally chose this one among the thousands of Kurokawa Onsen. Except that it is a bit far from the main street and takes about 20 minutes to walk, everything else is very good. If you come in the glorious spring, it will make you even more happy, haha. When entering the hotel, you need to check the reservation name, take the initiative to carry the suitcase, and introduce the hotel facilities. It is larger than the traditional family hot spring hotel. The rooms are villas, including twin beds, living room, toilet, shower, indoor private bath, etc. The banquet cuisine was average, but I met a Chinese waiter during the meal and the communication was smooth. Overall, it is a very good hot spring hotel. It is recommended if you charter a car or drive yourself.

Oyado Noshiyu is an old Japanese ryokan located in the Kurokawa onsen region. It’s a short walk into a small village with cozy restaurants, and shops. The ryokan is well established and has both indoor and outdoor baths. Our room was clean and well maintained with AC, television, good wifi, toilet, shower and bath as well as foot bath. Sleeping arrangements are futons on tatami. Very quiet, especially at night. Great Japanese breakfast served at 8:15 am and dinner at 6 pm. Dining is in separate rooms and the servers are very attentive. Food quality is good and omikase style. There’s a very cozy bar on the second floor of the dining area and it’s a pleasant place to visit for a drink before or after dinner. We spent our days visiting the village and enjoying the baths. Staff are very welcoming and focused on making guests comfortable. Noshiyu is a wonderful place to stay and unwind.

We stayed for 2 nights in December 2019. The room has a bath, and the sulfur smell is a source hanging water that seems to be very effective, with the flowers of the fragrance hot water. I entered the hot spring many times during my stay, but my shoulders and back became lighter and I realized the effect. I think it is a great hot water. The room is not large, but the ceiling is high and there is no feeling of pressure. The interior was rural and did not match their hobby, but I was able to spend comfortably. The hot spring was great and the room was comfortable, so the service was outstanding. Overall, I felt that the staff was not working to meet the needs of the guests, and that it was an operation importance to turn efficiently. If guests stay at this inn, they need to match a considerable part of the inn side. I think there is no way to be a lower price range inn, but if you ask for this price, you should provide such services according to the needs of more guests. If you maintain the price now, I think you should increase the number of employees and make a fine service or lower the price if you are a service now. I was worried about the following points. • I arrived 30 minutes before check-in. At that time, check-in was from 15 o'clock, so I was told that I was not given an option and was driven out. I knew later, but there were only three guests on that day, and the cleaning staff said that they were finished until the final inspection of the room by 12 o'clock every day. Then, I was happy to have considerations such as waiting in the lobby at least. • The accommodation procedure is performed by guests. I think it is rare in this price range inn. It's a small thing, but I'm worried. • The explanation of how to use the room was also insufficient. It's dangerous if you don't explain the caution because you use a gas stove. • Dinner is 18:00 or 18:30. There is no other choice. It was too early for us. • The dinner course was delicious with beef from Kumamoto Prefecture. I felt that it was not suitable for the price of 12000 yen per person. The chef was also like one person, and it was an efficiency-oriented menu. • There are already appetizers before you arrive at the table of meals. I was careful not to dust off my jacket. • Breakfast is also a choice of 8:00 or 8:30. The most surprising thing was that I wanted 8:30, but around 8:05, I called to prepare breakfast. Is it coming early? • When I checked out, I asked me to carry two suitcases and shoulder bags, but I was refused because I couldn't carry the bag. • Especially, the male staff who was called the chief was not enthusiastic or I didn't feel the feeling of hospitality to the guests at all.

A quiet remote inn in Okukurokawa. There are only 8 rooms in the vast land. Because each room has a bath, I don't meet people in the large open-air bath, and I rarely meet people in the hotel. The room is a calm Japanese-style room. The floor I stayed on was on the 2nd floor, but when I opened a door, I went down the stairs to the 1st floor from here and went to the indoor bath. The bathroom is filled with steam and is a hot spring that flows directly from the source. The service is also substantial. Welcome fruit was prepared in the refrigerator. The food is also vegetables from the home vegetable garden and locally produced Japanese beef. The rice is also delicious with locally produced ”Akigeshiki”. It was a satisfying hotel in everything.
