Just returned from a stay here with a family of 5 and can really recommend this hotel. We stayed in a duplex 2 bedroom apartment - with additional sofa bed. Pro's - Very friendly and helpful staff. Good value for money especially compared to similar options in the region - Great air conditioning throughout the apartment - Good sized kitchen with fridge + freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine, utensils - 2 bedrooms - double beds, TV in each room (additional sofa bed + TV in living room). One room with a balcony. - 2 bathrooms one with a shower and other bath/shower (only 1 with toilet) - both shower + bath could be used at the same time. - Swimming pool was slightly small, which means can be a little crowded at busy times but great for children and not too deep. - Small sauna and basic gym too. - Fresh water and cakes/cookies at reception - Great location for driving. Plenty of parking. Location is just by Mougins (which is great for fine dinning options). A short drive to supermarkets and close to roads to explore South of France. (Cannes/Antibes about 30 mins drive, Nice 1 hour) Con's - Cleaning was only done once during our stay (9 nights) - No shared facilities/food/bar options after 8pm and nothing too close by foot either. Overall we had a great stay here and would definitely recommend this.
Hôtel de Mougins

Although rated as a 4-star hotel, and although the garden, pool area are pleasant but not exceptional, the rooms themselves are tired and bathrooms very dirty, buffet breakfast is uninspiring, most staff untrained/offhand, so we concur largely with the negative comments from previous guests (eg: MarionC, Empi, 195adrian, hkh219.....), some dating back several years, indicating management evidently does not care. The restaurant is often closed to residents unless previously booked, because of external functions, which is the last straw after a long drive. When we complained, we were fobbed off by assurances that updates/renovations were planned for the next winter/next year, but interestingly, the same comments had occurred year after year, so were manifestly untrue. Accordingly, we asked for a 15-20% discount to price levels corresponding more to a 2-star hotel. This was refused on the grounds that then ”all our other guests would want the same”(!) so we checked out early and found a better alternative nearby. I am also submitting this commentary & photos to the local tourist board/Chambre de Commerce with the suggestion that they revise the hotel rating downwards until the promised enhancements are actually implemented. Photos of bathroom between toilet & bidet: + as on arrival ( ..... 951) + after my preliminary washdown with handtowel ( .....836) + after ”scrub” by hotel staff 2 days later ( .....956)
Le Club Mougins

We took advantage of the two HGV France properties and scheduled a two week vacation, one week in Paris (stayed at HGV Royal Regency Vincennes), and the second week here at Le Club Mougins. We had been to the Nice area before on a previous Med Cruise and wanted to explore more of the surrounding villages. This review captures our experiences with the resort and location. Positives: 1) The staff at the resort were very professional and helpful. They provided us very beneficial recommendations and local information as we needed. 2) Being able to order pastries from a local bakery for the morning was a great option. 3) The location was close to town (and the old town) to be able to walk to restaurants, grocery stores, and additional shops. The town is very hilly so if you walk expect to get a cardio workout :) 4) The one bedroom unit had AC available which was more than what we had in Paris. This is nice to know had it been during warmer days. 5) Driving around the area was very easy to navigate, are only learning was to make sure you notice the public parking in some of the small villages you visit before driving into the town. The streets can became quite narrow and you may want to evaluate proceeding too far before you realize you should be walking first. 6) There were some nice features in the 1 bedroom unit, like towel heating rack in the bathroom, and large patios to sit outside on. We found the unit to be quiet. Some deltas 1) The unit and resort facility is very dated and less that what you expect with a HGV brand property. 2) We noticed that if we walked on the tile floors barefoot that when you stepped in the shower the bottom of your feet had turned black. We don't think the cleaning of the unit considered washing the floors. 3) Like the Paris location, the unit had things you expect to find, like face clothes to wash with (just towels), or providing conditioner versus just liquid soap in the shower. 4) Since the town was close by to walk to restaurants in the evening, we noticed there were no street lights working on the small road leading up to the resort entrance. It was 50/50 if the street lights turned on once you entered the resort after the gated entrance. This is a real safety issue since there are no sidewalks to use. 5) The furniture in the unit was pretty uncomfortable and reminded us of college dormitory set-up versus a hotel. 6) On the last day there, we had a thunderstorm come through during the night and woke up to find significant amount of water had leaked onto the floor in front of the door in the bedroom leading to outside patio. This water had come in contact with a suitcase on the floor so we had to deal with that. We reported the issue during our checkout, and the staff stated they would have maintenance check it out, but we can't imagine this had not come up before. Overall we enjoyed our stay and loved exploring the area and taking in the local culture and scenery. We hope that HGV invests into some updates
La Réserve by Mougins Luxury Retreats
4.4/59 Reviews
Stylish room and welcoming staff. Lots of space in the suite and luxuious bed. Room was a short walk through the village to the hotel lobby, terrace and pool. Pool was beautiful, plenty of comfortable sunbeds, but few umbrellas for shade (came away redder than the enourous crab scupture in the room). Staff were very frienldy and happy to order taxis and modify restaurant reservations - although definietly use Uber instead of the taxi service which was three times the price! Location is remote so a car hire would be more convenient as Mougins is extremely small with no shops in the village. Hotel is true to the photos and a lovely place to relax for a couple of days.
