Tru by Hilton Mt. Juliet

Not the worst place I have stayed at, but a series of things at this stay kind of bothered me. I like Tru and the other major chains similar concept, as they are comfortable no frills with laminate floors (no carpet!), nice showers and provided soaps. I travel through this area for business and usually stay at the other chain in town. Gave this Tru a shot. Because it is connected to a HGI, this hotel is pretty big and has a pool, bar and restaurant unlike other Tru's I have been at. This is also a good location, quiet with one side of the hotel overlooking a small wooded area. I was disappointed however in the condition of the room I had on the 3rd floor. The door stop that flips out for added security for the door to keep it from opening looked like someone had attempted to force it open as it was loose and the base pulled away from the frame of the door by at least 1/2 of an inch with all of the screws loose. There was a prominent hand print on the bathroom door frame that looks like it was made by a 4 year old with a hand covered in hot Cheeto cheese dust. The walls of the room are a very light blue, but the paint was marked up with black scuffs everywhere on almost every wall. The wall close to one of the beds was just straight dirty. It looks like someone had laid in the bed and put their dirty feet all over the wall (I didn't get a picture of it). Another issue was the bathroom towels were all damp like they had not finished drying in the dryer completely. The bathroom was also showing some wear, with goopy poor caulk repair around the shower, marks on the wallpaper and some mold on the shower door silicon seals. Overall, the room was a little beat up and could use a once over with a spray bottle of bleach on the walls. Tru or Hilton also need to work on the TV system they use. Half the time I stay at them not all of the ”Live TV” channels work. At this stay, I couldn't get any channels on the menu to work at all when selected, the channel would pop up, but then the screen would stay black. Having an hour to kill, I figured out you don't try to access the ”Live TV” app from the ”home” option on screen. This will pull up a list of channels and tell you what network they are and what show is playing, but if selected, the channel will not work. Use the ”Entertainment” option on screen and scroll down until you see the network icons on the bottom of the screen, then select a channel.

We stayed there in Aug. Noticed in Sept our credit card had an extra $75+ charge. Contacted the hotel, was assured somebody would get back to me in a couple days. Couple weeks go by, call again, same thing-no response from the hotel. Reach out to Hilton's customer service in Oct explain to them the issue. At first they couldn't find my submitted email, emailed again. Assured by them somebody would reach out to me. Nobody did. Now they are telling me to contact the hotel directly. If that would have worked the 1st time I wouldn't have been reaching out to them. It is now Nov, no response from anybody! It is very clear they don't value customer service. Up until this point I would have said great hotel.

I recently stayed at this hotel for a wedding, and it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. When we first checked in, we were given a room that hadn’t even been cleaned—bed unmade, trash everywhere, and clearly no attention to basic housekeeping. This should have been the first red flag, but unfortunately, it was only the beginning. The hotel’s breakfast area was equally appalling. It was filthy, with food crumbs and spills all over the place, and no one seemed to be maintaining the cleanliness of the area. It was clear that the staff couldn’t be bothered to keep it even remotely hygienic for guests. After we got situated in our second room, we went downstairs to the reception area and the nightmare continued. The bartender (Jessica) was unbelievably slow, completely unmotivated, and made it clear they wanted nothing to do with serving our wedding party. The worst part? They openly bad-mouthed our group to other patrons at the bar. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable behavior for any establishment, let alone a hotel. The following morning I raised these concerns to the Assistant General Manager, Terry Craig, and things went from bad to worse. Instead of taking the feedback seriously, he gave me a condescending attitude and proceeded to defend the bartender's disgraceful behavior. Terry actually sided with the other patrons – the same ones the bartender was bad-mouthing the wedding party to – and said that *we* were the ones being ”a pain in the ass.” This was a jaw-dropping level of unprofessionalism. Rather than de-escalating the situation or even pretending to care about customer service, Terry smirked at me throughout the entire conversation and seemed more interested in dismissing my concerns than addressing them. I was simply trying to offer constructive criticism, but he was more intent on defending terrible service and showing off his arrogant, dismissive attitude. I cannot stress enough how utterly disappointed I am in both the service and management at this hotel. If you're looking for a place that values its guests and treats them with even a shred of respect, go elsewhere. This place is a disaster from top to bottom, and I will absolutely not be returning.

The rooms are so small it is ridiculous! I’m a Diamond Elite member ( I essentially stay in a hotel 4 nights a week, EVER week). This is the worst Holiday Inn I have ever stayed in. For a newer hotel, it is in fairly bad shape. But the restaurant is the worst. Elena was training and she did a good job but the person training her was rude, dismissive, and uninterested in anyone but a single man at the bar. They did not have martini glasses (weird) so served my cosmo in a highball glass. Mine was slippery and I accidentally dropped it. It was extremely loud. The head bartender didn’t even look up. And when I asked for napkins to wipe up the mess she looked at me with disgust on her face. She never offered to wipe up the mess. Really sorry I am here for 2 weeks.
