We booked a tatami room including half board for 3 days through Japanican/JTB and paid JTB in advance. When we arrived on October 14th, the poor condition (e.g. dirty curtains) was already visible from the outside. The room we were assigned smelled of smoke and the carpet was dirty. Another room was not available. We made it clear to the hotel owner that we would not accept this room and would cancel and that we wanted the 122,000 yen we had already paid refunded.
