Pro: The service/bell hop service was absolutely phenomenal. The guys were so very helpful and extremely friendly. Cons: The bathrooms are EXTREMELY small. I understand the French theme located in the French Quarter. However, if you are 6'2, forget it! The lobby/floor-hall bathrooms are bigger and more useful. This was a business trip for the law enforcement industry, with at least 150 first responders, sworn/unsworn, in attendance. Guest or overall loyalty was not provided AT ALL! Despite my agency already paying for this accommodation IN ADVANCE, there was the unexpected and inconvenient charge of $100/night for "incidentals", 3 nights = $300. It would have helped if this information would have been made clearly known in advance, perhaps upon booking/reserving. Nonetheless, for business accounts/reservations, why wouldn't your organization "wave" or reduce this "fee"? I have attended MANY other law enforcement/related conferences over my 25 years of service, being accommodated from the Hyatt to the Hilton, Florida to California, and at best, there was a minimal $100 perhaps, if any, fee for this "incidental" charge, just as a courtesy for 1. the more than 200+ people who normally were in attendance as well as 2. A "THANKS FOR ALL WE SACRIFICE AND DO ON A DAILY BASIS" kind of gesture. As first responders, traveling for work, it is not within our wherewithal or normal practice to destroy property or "steal" merchandise (order room service without paying for it", etc. especially since we tend to manage these behaviors on a daily basis and are already severely background screened prior to even being able to be hired. I was allowed to pay for the room in full, however I was asked to wait in the front of the check-in desk until this "incidental" fee was made (my agency completed an additional credit card authorization form via email and over the phone). This took some time, and after a long flight, not inviting or pleasant at all when again you are traveling for work. Any other work conferences held at the Omni, anyplace, before I retire, I will not be in attendance. I am providing this same information to the agency who held the conference in hopes that they utilize a different hotel.
