The Briers

Another great stay at the briers. Excellent place and very affordable. Darren is a friendly and relaxed host. Will definitely return again.

Finally got round to writing my review of this truly special place. After touring round Ireland for 10 days we were looking for somewhere to just chill and boy did we find it here. Everything about this place Darren has got right , to being able to have breakfast whatever time of day suited you , to just sitting in the beautiful gardens or having a drink in the lovely lounge and not forgetting the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Darren you and your staff have got everything right , cant wait to come back next year, after seeing all your plans for the future of the place. There's not much more I can add other than if you are in this area this really is the place to stay for some R@R. Thanking you all Mick and Jane Barton . Ps I bought a boiled egg maker

Absolutely fabulous, was blown away by how good The Briers was. Vastly exceeded my expectations and will look to always stay there in future when in Newcastle to play golf at Royal County Down. Luxurious bedrooms, bedding, etc and such a peaceful setting. Wish I’d been staying longer.

First the positives, absolutely beautiful room, no expense has been spared on the furniture and the fixtures and fittings, everything was top notch, couldn't fault any of the furnishings. Beautiful big bathroom, lovely big bed. The negatives and this is not really the fault of Briers country House but we stayed only for 1 night as we wanted to climb Slieve Donard on our way to a wedding on the west coast of Ireland (Westport) , the weather was heavy rain all night and because we slept in a room with a velux window it was deafening, we had no sleep all night, then to top it all just as the rain stopped and we were dropping off (around 7am) the alarm went off and didn't stop for about 15 mins. As far as I understand the owners are not on the premises and noone knew what to do. I also didn't like the breakfast, I understand it was a 'help yourself' but it would be better (in my opinion) if you could be offered a hot breakfast. I probably wouldn't stop again unless I knew I was in a ground floor room.

Excellent stay! Clean room and very quaint location. Breakfast was nice many options.
