Not sure where to start tbh. Room was in the attic accessed via spiral staircase (room 15) really impractical that we didn’t even attempt to bring our cases in). Husband is 6’ tall and banged his head off sloping eaves twice (has now a bump and bruise on his head). Pipe work started banging at 11.30 pm for at least 30 minutes ;I videoed as evidence) and then again at 7.30 am which was still banging until we left the room. Breakfast was ok Food in bar was basic but tasty. Staff very pleasant but unavailable a lot as seemed to be doing several jobs at the same time. Aaron (manager on duty) just said he would speak to owner and maintenance when I complained. Did not offer any compensation when I complained. We noticed a FOR SALE sign outside, which does not surprise me.

Food great. Room spacious but directly above noisy bar where heavy metal music seemed to be playing maybe a jukebox. Dirty tissue behind bedside table, mirror in bathroom flaking, shower screen gone! Electrical wiring messy and possibly dangerous. Overall furniture old tired and place needed a refurbishment.£120 poor value …place up for sale ,dirty window so no real view

Comfy restaurant and we had excellent service from the barmaid. The food was nice but nothing special. If you're looking for somewhere comfortable and not too noisy for a nice dinner then this is the place. The curry wasn't the best but does the job if you're not bothered about having a fancy meal and the steak pie was good.

Warm welcome staff friendly and helpful. We booked a large room with bath. We arrived at 4pm and the room and bathroom were freezing cold, I went to tell the receptionist and was told the heating comes on at 4pm and people (Eskimos perhaps) had complained of the heat. There are no bedside lights, one central ceiling one that makes the room appear colder and one table light on the table with the kettle. The room also has the distinct smell of cigarettes. However we had a fairly good meal in the restaurant and the staff were helpful and friendly. Definitely not worth the £129 I paid for the room

To begin with, the Hotel seemed like a great place to stay until it came to the food and especially my Desert. I was reading through the menu and decided to go for the sticky toffee pudding and when I got it I knew it was microwaved. This is disgraceful giving your customers over priced microwavable crap. If you do go the rest is all good, just watch out for their rip-off overpriced food.

7 of us stayed at the Crown for 2 nights and could not fault it. The staff are exceptional (especially the Bar Manager and the lady who serves breakfast) and nothing is too much trouble. They are all multi-tasking and are often doing more than one role. The food was also very good and nice to have home-made rather than hotel chain fast food. Well done to all the team at the Crown and thanks for a great New Year.

I stayed at the Crown Hotel for one night for work earlier this week. From the moment I checked in the service was outstanding. I had an evening meal within the bar. The staff were friendly, efficient and the food was exceptional. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere and the locals were great too. The room was clean well stocked with everything you need. In particular I was impressed with the amount of tea/coffee making supplies provided which for someone with a sweet tooth such as myself made my experience that bit better. The pre ordered breakfast was fantastic and the service from staff was once again excellent. I travel a lot with work and found the experience at this hotel was better than I've received in most hotels. - Thank you for a wonderful experience, ill be back.

Forget this place ,rang up to arrange a meal for 3 in the to restaurant and was told no problem. We got there well dressed and found the restaurant closed, only the doing bar meals. The place had 2 guys in work clothes did not appreciate this but decided to stay that is until I asked for a draft beer and was told they are all off only bottles. So I said to the obviously not to bright bar man but they are more expensive, he said no, the bottles were cheaper, I said no they are not. So I said the bottles may be cheaper per bottle but you don't get a pint. He was lost with this, so if you want a meal in the restaurant and want draft beer this is not the place to go
