To make a long story short - this hotel is no longer worth the cost. I’ll outline my grievances for those who want the details : The hotel is under new ownership. Originally my original pricing was going to be honored since I booked the stay 7 months in advance. Three months later, I was alerted that the rates were no longer being honored and the price would increase over $200 for my four night stay. As I had such a pleasant experience last summer, and I was promised renovations, I agreed to the increased cost and change of booking terms. Upon arrival, the AC unit was not functional in the room. And although it was renovated a bit, the 78* room was nearly unbearable. When I contacted hotel staff, I was told — it’s feeling cooler let’s give it some time. I was unhappy but after traveling with two small children I was ready to call it a night. Day two we moved into another room. This room was less renovated than the first, however the AC worked as designed. Morning of day three- I was abruptly scared to death at 750am as someone outside of my room used a card swipe to access my room. I shouted and this person removed their hand from the top lock (as their hand was INSIDE of my door at the point). I immediately called the hotel front desk and waited uncomfortably for someone to review the camera footage of who / what / why someone was able to open the door to my room. 28 minutes later I received a call back stating that ‘housekeeping’ had accidentally tried to access my room and did not know anyone was in there. Ok. Evening of day three- at 10pm there was no hot water to shower. I, as well as every other guest in the hotel, gave the benefit of the doubt and assumed high utilization was the cause given the street festival had just closed down for the night. After attempting to get hot water for over an hour, my children ( covered in face paint and sand from the day) went to bed without a hot shower. Day four - check out day - there is still no hot water. When I called for remediation I was told ‘no one else complained but I’ll see what I can do’. Nearly two hours later, after I’ve now given up again on showers, I receive a call back advising that there is a widespread issue but it won’t be fixed by checkout time at 11am. I, of course, now complain and was immediately met with resistance. After expressing my deep concerns and disappointment, I was offered a $75 gift card off my next stay at the hotel. Now, this offer was unacceptable to me given A) I missed out on the ‘renovations’ due to switching rooms, B) I was abruptly awoken and scared for the safety of my family due to miscommunication, C) myself and my children were unable to shower before check out due to a hotel equipment failure. The original staff of the hotel are just as amazing as always. However, the new ownership doesn’t seem to have much concern for quality. As I have not received an appropriate credit to my stay, I am posting this here. Next year, I’ll be finding a diff
