Best Hotels near Shimo-Imaichi Station, Nikko

This cosy, rustic, family type inn has a lot to offer and a couple of drawbacks: First, there are two nice, semi-private hot baths or onsen; you can just switch the sign to occupied and enjoy yourself with your spouse; Second there is a big dining area with free coffee and tea, plus microwave, hot water and in the lounge area free filtered water and a combo freezer/frig for guest's use, no charge. The room was cosy and we had a small but cute 'capsule' bathroom in our room which was spotless. It's also obviously an old building and the decor is dated but I found it added to the charm. Next the room was in a quiet neighborhood and you could hear the river which was delightful. The hosts were friendly and helpful too. Now the drawback: The kerosine heaters used in both the lounge area and our room smelled just awful. I grew up with kerosine lights as a child and so did my hubby so it's not like we don't know about them. We were able to open the windows in our room to get rid of the smell but it's November and freezing, so we just jumped under the thick quilts. My recommendation: go in the summer to enjoy all cosy place has to offer. Second drawback is that the walls are thin with little soundproofing-we could hear the conversation of the couple next door. If you are a light sleeper this might disturb you.

It was a visit to the open-air bath with a room, and it was a way to use it outside the room except for the meal. The members were young and cold with rain. If it is not cold outside, it is information that is not necessary. The shower and bathtub are completely outside. Accumulate hot water by yourself in a wooden bathtub. There is a pipe with a faucet that comes out of the source of 42 degrees as it is, and a silver faucet that comes out of the source heated to 60 degrees. The heating faucet is expected, but because of the tank type, if it exceeds a certain amount, hot water will not come out. It seems that it is safe to remove the peak time zone. Check in at 15 o'clock and take a bath immediately. It is difficult to warm the low temperature from later, so the heating faucet is twisted with the source pipe, and it is a little hot while adjusting. (If you don't want to adjust it, you can store it with a pipe and then use a heating faucet.) When the bath is taken, you will use the shower immediately. It's cold on a cold day, so it's cold on a cold mountain, so it's still cold when the temperature is high. The wooden bathtub is always outside, so it's cold. When you take the first bath, you feel cold little by little when you put your butt and back on. The dressing room and bathroom area can be partitioned with curtains. For sleeping, there was a cloth blind that could be opened and closed on the entrance door side from the bed. There is also a return transfer. I think it was 9:00, 9:30 and 10:00. We will guide you at check-in, but please check every time because I think it depends on the time and the number of all guests. The staff's response is great. I will use it again.

Far removed from all the hustle and bustle from the city yet its only 2 hours away. Nikko, just 16.7 miles north of Ustunomiya the capital city of Tochigi Prefecture, is a home to many world heritage site such as legendary Toshogu Shrine. This property is one of a kind and unique. Located 15 minutes drive from Tobu Nikko Station and next to Daiwa River this property has unique blend of tranquility and authentic ryokan experience. The room size is pretty average with the entrance area with a bathroom adjacent to it leading to the living room which can be separated from the entrance area by a fusuma sliding door. The view of Daiwa River and sound of water flowing down the river is like nothing you have experienced before. They also have a first come based private onsen. The view you get from this semi opened air bath combined with relaxing onsen washes away your daily stresses down the drain. Due to the serenity and tranquility, location is not the most ideal. Closest convenience store along with other food option (FYI: most restaurants and diners closes before 6PM) is close to 10 minutes walk via Kokudo 120 leading up to Honcho. However, whether it’s weekend getaways for all Tokyo residents or you’re here for vacation Annex Turtle offers you the upmost relaxation for a reasonable cost.

If you choose to take a bus from the station to the hotel, brace yourselves for a rather long walk from the bus drop off point to the monorail entrance along a very rough gravel road (trust me, it gets worse if it’s wet and cold and you’re dragging a 15kg luggage). The walk was far from what I’d expect when staying in such a luxury resort. If I could make any suggestion i think the hotel should perhaps pave the gravel road to make it more walk-friendly? Or negotiate with the bus company so that the stop is right outside the monorail entrance and not at the end of a muddy gravel road. But until any of that is made possible I’d highly recommend taking a taxi from station if you don’t have a car. The ‘Monorail’ (which was more like a glorified cable car) was an interesting feature on arrival. I don’t know if it was build due to geographical restriction (that prevented actual roads built right up to the hotel?) or as some sort of gimmick but sorry to say it’s really not efficient during peak hours and after the first ride it really just felt like an elevator that takes forever to arrive. Once we finally arrived the place itself was gorgeous throughout. From the decor to the atmosphere it’s just a relaxing vibe. It’s a place for getaways and the hotel made sure of that with all the attention to details (such as the meal timings, the seating arrangements etc) to make sure at no point you feel crowded or overwhelmed. The service was great and the staff know limited but adequate English. The Onsen was quite a long walk from our room in freezing cold weather, the foyer was fancy with a relaxation area and free drinks, however the actual onset felt slightly on the basic side to me with just one indoor and one outdoor (not a super fancy type) bath but since there weren’t many guests it wasn’t crowded and I was happy. Again the entire onsen area was very neat and clean. Our room was lovely and clean with a nice balcony. Food was lovely as well. Overall once you get past the gravel road and reach the hotel there’s really not much else to fault and I did enjoy my stay very much.

This hotel is located near Nikko Kinugawa Onsen Station. The hotel environment, service, food are very good, and the hotel's own hot spring is also very good! Mainly very quiet, all local Japanese come to play! Especially the hotel's Chinese service staff, Miss Yang, is very attentive and will often remind us whether to order dinner. Remember that if you book a hotel like Kinugawa, you must order dinner. The restaurants around the hotel are closed early! Or just go back to the hotel after eating at Nikko Station. That must be finished before 17:00! In addition, the breakfast was generous! A little dissatisfied is that the position of Ctrip's station on the train station is 600 meters straight from the hotel, but whether it's more than walking or taking a car! Although this is a straight distance, I think at least the actual distance must be marked, and the actual distance that humans can ride or walk. Because the linear distance of the mark cannot be reached directly!

Style. Simple clean modern design Setting. Japan countryside, off the beaten path near highway, good for short overnight stay if on a longer drive Explore. Farm park. Outdoor hot springs across street @ the hotel. Convenience store style snacks available in the lobby. There are no restaurants in the hotel. Basic amenities so no hair conditioner, no bathtub. Nice common area/lobby. Helpful English speaking staff (Ayumi Osawa) that was super responsive via email. Rooms. I had a small clean room facing the trees on the 3rd floor, was here after a red-eye flight so checked in at 11 am and checked out 3 hours later, was happy with the experience Food & drinks. Looked like there were some restaurants nearby. Best to have car to get around Prices. Good /great value at US$115 Rating. 4/5

Having only just arrived a few days earlier in Japan - this was our first experience of a ryokan . We didn’t know what to expect but it turned out to be a fantastic experience. From choosing our own Kimono to wear around the hotel to our beautiful spacious room with wonderful views of the autumn trees behind, every detail had been thought about. The onsen was wonderful with a pool. Inside and outside. We had a private dining room where we were served the most incredible meals in beautiful Japanese ceramics of all kinds of shapes and sizes. We were attended to by the Chun, a young Vietnamese girl who was just charming, she couldn’t do enough for us and tried so hard with her English - she really made our stay.. this ryokan is also right opposite the shrines , so its a great location and right on the bus route for getting further into the hills. We really recommend this place.

Really nice room with an epic view of the lake and enough space for everything. Meals are wonderful and abundant and a seasonal selection each day Perfect place to stay if you are planning to explore okunikko area or to cycle around the lake, there are also restaurants nearby for lunch. The public bath is very pleasant with an outdoor spring to soak in while enjoying an open sky. Found out there was a shuttle bus back to tobu-nikko station setting off at 11am from the hotel after speaking to a kind staff member, Diane. Do make reservations for the shuttle beforehand at the reception if you plan to take this as well. Rental bikes available at the Nikko natural history museum which is a 10min walk from the hotel

I stayed with my family in December 2021. I liked it too much after a long time, so I repeated my reservation in March. ■ Meals The meals can be selected as ”buffet style”, ”half private room dining room” and ”room meal”, but definitely ”buffet style” is recommended. I thought it would be a pretty delicious part compared to the live kitchen, the freshly fried tenkara and the buffet of the common hotel. This level is not too much to say the same class as the ”hanari” of Lake Hakone, ashinoko. The vegetables that tend to be pulled out of this hand are delicious and exciting. In addition, for families with small children, there is a half-private room zashiki in the buffet venue, and there is a child menu in ”１ lower position than adults” so that small children can take it by themselves Anyway, I was impressed that I was worried about １ rank ２ rank compared to the hotel in the same price range. Then the buffet alcohol was rich in variety and was free to drink at + 1,500 yen. When I chose a little early 17 o'clock, please eat at night. And I received several tickets for the ramen shop opposite the hotel. ■ Facility barrier free etc. I think there is no problem, but I feel a little old (very beautiful) with the toilet on each floor. The size and speed of the elevator are not particularly dissatisfied. ■ Onsen Indoor and Outdoor hot water were very good. I think it is a hot water without any particular feature, but the open-air bath while watching the snow was usually pleasant. ■ Other weekends? Saturday? It seems to be limited, but fireworks rose right behind the hotel. I thought I was working very hard while the customer was decreasing in the corona. I thought Kinugawa had been lonely, but I suddenly wanted to support it.

Stayed for the first time in two years. I stayed at Hachibankan for the first time. Premium lounge can be used for the use of Hachibankan. It was a calm space, but I was surprised that there were several guests who were happy to peek in from the entrance. Fortunately, it was convenient because it was a room on the 6th floor. On other floors, you need to transfer to the elevator when using the facilities of Shuhokan. I think it was probably almost full, but there are 3 baths, including the open-air bath on the roof, so there is no feeling of congestion. I was able to spend a relaxing time. The shower bed and hair dryer were refas. Meals are 2 meals with Viking. I can't deny the feeling of zawazawa, but I think it's a Viking if you stay in Asaya. I don't know because I have no experience using kaiseki ryotei, but the buffet was better than the restaurant in the kaiseki. However, it is good to be quick, but the restaurant staff who lowers the dishes from the empty side walks on the floor like running, so it shakes while eating. A little uncomfortable. There was also a response that was not as if there were many part-time jobs. The staff are polite, but it feels like it has become a normal hot spring hotel that is a little expensive due to the corona wreck. I feel that there used to be a little more special, luxurious, and special feeling. I feel that even when the corona support is gone, it will not return to the original service.
