Nikko Spa Hotels

I adore the Ritz Carlton brand - whether in Paris, SG, Dubai or HK - you are guaranteed an experience that is captivating. Unfortunately this is not the case in Nikko. I am not a hotel guest. But since I am in lake Chuzenji & have heard so much raves about the hotel, I thought I would drop by the admire the beauty & splendour of the Ritz in lovely Nikko. I didn’t have a restaurant reservation, but being low season in Nikko, I wouldn’t think it will be a problem to get a table for 2 for lunch? Unfortunately, I was wrong. So wrong. I was told the hotel is booked out the whole day for dining in Lakehouse? I enquired - how about any other restaurants? No, Mam. Non available. I can wait - it’s already 1.30pm, surely a table will open up pretty quickly in very quiet Nikko at the moment? The lady replied - that’s the thing - we are booked out the whole day, just for today. Well deeply, I cannot stop rolling my eyes. Fine, I don’t need to be captivated with the splendid of Ritz by Lake Chuzenji given the arrogance & lackadaisical service, just because I am not a hotel guest? Worse was this conversation did not take place in the warm hotel lobby. I was standing at the hotel entrance in cold winter afternoon. Thanks you Ritz, for the very very very cold reception. The pure ignorance & discrimination for non-hotel guest.I am truly enlightened.

A perfect location for exploring Nikko and the surrounding area. Although from the outside it looks quite standard modern, internally it is just about perfect. Dinner, for which we dressed in local attire, was served in a private dining room. It consisted of over 15 small plates of food, all superbly presented and very tasty. Incredible they use a different plate design for each dish. The staff were very helpful. Well worth a visit.

I visited with 7 adults. The weather was unpleasant, but I had a very memorable and wonderful trip. Arrived at the hotel before 11:00 by shuttle bus. I forgot the name of the person in charge, but thank you for the agility of the shortcut staff. The hot spring of the sulfur spring The skin became smooth and the hot water temperature was just right (this day was about 12 ℃) The washing area was separated by a partition and the water pressure was good. The breakfast and dinner were all very satisfying. Supper was a full course today, but all the dishes were made with plenty of local ingredients, and the amount was just right, and my elderly parents had all of them firmly. Of course, breakfast and omelets were delicious, and all the dishes were delicious and polite service was exhausted. Since it faces Lake Chuzenji, I'm sure you can see even more beautiful scenery on a sunny day. Also, the lounge for guests on the second floor is a very nice space. I usually don't say word of mouth, but I couldn't help but say word of mouth because the staff of 々, who I was looking forward to, were hospitality and the whole family was impressed. It was a nice hotel that I really wanted to visit with everyone again. Thank you very much.

After 2 nights in the main Nikko area (staying at the spectacular Fufu Nikko), we chose to overnight in Oku-Nikko to tour Kegon Falls and do some hiking in the area. While it was a pleasant stay, Kai Nikko was a massive step down when compared to the fresh, new and luxurious Fufu Nikko. I've previously leveled criticism at various Hoshino resorts in the past, and most of them apply here - decent but not amazing food, the lack of Onsen (natural mineral hot springs) baths in the rooms, a bit of a corporate feel, slow check-in process and a bit too communal of an experience. As was the case with Kai Tsugaru, Hoshino's Nikko property has definitely seen its better days. The exterior is downright unpleasant - it really, really needs a refurbish in the worst way, beginning with a fresh new paint job. And while there are charming touches in terms of interior decor (numerous nooks and crannies featuring an assortment of ikebana, bonsai, figurines, written scrolls, etc.), there's no getting around the property's age, and it even smalls a bit run down as well. To start with - for those of you looking for the classic luxury Onsen ryokan experience, I'll get straight to the point - you should look elsewhere. There are no in-room Onsen baths, even in the top suites (only communal ones are available, as well as one rental Onsen that will be hard to reserve given that it's only one), and Kai Nikko offers Samue (looks like spa pajamas) instead of a Yukata. And the Samue are not at all stylish. We booked the top suite at Kai Nikko - the massive, 170m² lake-view suite (room category ”TK6.”) It was downright cavernous, but the layout was confusing... tons of small rooms with short hallways that was very disorienting to us. It was definitely not the best use space. If they wanted to cater to the luxury demographic with an uncompromising Suite, they really should have allocated some space for an Onsen bath as well as a dining area (with an option to have meals served in the room.) Basically, it was a decently-appointed room that was super sized, but was not attractive or fresh in a way that would have done the top category room justice. Given that we're in the COVID-19 era, we prefer not to partake in communal bathing, so the public Onsen baths were not an option to us. Fortunately, Kai Nikko has one private free-flowing, open-air Onsen bath that you can rent. Unfortunately, it's subject to availability and comes at a cost of 3300 yen (roughly $30 USD.) We were fortunate enough to secure a time slot before dinner, but at full capacity I can't imagine too many people successfully booking a slot, given that the times are spread out by 90 minutes (1 hour of use followed by 30 minutes of cleaning by staff.) The Kaiseki dinner at Kai Nikko was equally underwhelming. While it's ”good” (it's very hard to find a bad meal in Japan, mind you), good is not enough in an industry that offers great meals across the board. If you choose to take a bus from the station to the hotel, brace yourselves for a rather long walk from the bus drop off point to the monorail entrance along a very rough gravel road (trust me, it gets worse if it’s wet and cold and you’re dragging a 15kg luggage). The walk was far from what I’d expect when staying in such a luxury resort. If I could make any suggestion i think the hotel should perhaps pave the gravel road to make it more walk-friendly? Or negotiate with the bus company so that the stop is right outside the monorail entrance and not at the end of a muddy gravel road. But until any of that is made possible I’d highly recommend taking a taxi from station if you don’t have a car. The ‘Monorail’ (which was more like a glorified cable car) was an interesting feature on arrival. I don’t know if it was build due to geographical restriction (that prevented actual roads built right up to the hotel?) or as some sort of gimmick but sorry to say it’s really not efficient during peak hours and after the first ride it really just felt like an elevator that takes forever to arrive. Once we finally arrived the place itself was gorgeous throughout. From the decor to the atmosphere it’s just a relaxing vibe. It’s a place for getaways and the hotel made sure of that with all the attention to details (such as the meal timings, the seating arrangements etc) to make sure at no point you feel crowded or overwhelmed. The service was great and the staff know limited but adequate English. The Onsen was quite a long walk from our room in freezing cold weather, the foyer was fancy with a relaxation area and free drinks, however the actual onset felt slightly on the basic side to me with just one indoor and one outdoor (not a super fancy type) bath but since there weren’t many guests it wasn’t crowded and I was happy. Again the entire onsen area was very neat and clean. Our room was lovely and clean with a nice balcony. Food was lovely as well. Overall once you get past the gravel road and reach the hotel there’s really not much else to fault and I did enjoy my stay very much.

This hotel is located near Nikko Kinugawa Onsen Station. The hotel environment, service, food are very good, and the hotel's own hot spring is also very good! Mainly very quiet, all local Japanese come to play! Especially the hotel's Chinese service staff, Miss Yang, is very attentive and will often remind us whether to order dinner. Remember that if you book a hotel like Kinugawa, you must order dinner. The restaurants around the hotel are closed early! Or just go back to the hotel after eating at Nikko Station. That must be finished before 17:00! In addition, the breakfast was generous! A little dissatisfied is that the position of Ctrip's station on the train station is 600 meters straight from the hotel, but whether it's more than walking or taking a car! Although this is a straight distance, I think at least the actual distance must be marked, and the actual distance that humans can ride or walk. Because the linear distance of the mark cannot be reached directly!

Very good, very old-fashioned hostel, hot springs and two meals are great. A little distance from the train station, when I went, I called the service staff to pick it up, but when I returned to the train station, I called a taxi because there was a person on duty in the lobby, not far away, but a bit expensive. It is recommended to ask the hotel in advance or make an appointment for the transfer.

I came here to escape the heat during the intense heat. A hot spring hotel located in the middle of nature. It is operated using the former building. It's quite a distance from Nikko to Oku-Nikko, but it's worth it because there are wonderful hot springs with cloudy sulfur springs. It's true that the flow line to the hot springs passes in front of the front desk, so I'm a little confused, but it's mutual. The restaurant is also buffet style. It felt like the table was close to the table next door. However, there seemed to be some rooms that were partitioned off for large groups or families with children, so it was untidy and unsettling. I felt that there was no such thing. There was a wide variety of items and drinks, and I felt that they were very creative. Breakfast was also sufficient. Lake Yunoko is right in front of you, so it's great for hiking. Nature is abundant and the air is delicious and cool. You will definitely want to visit again and again.

It is a long 々 trip due to the influence of corona. Still, the use of the public bath is refrained and the inn with hot springs in the room is chosen. Reservation, departure on the day. The arrival is slower than expected and contacts in advance to confirm that there is no problem, and it is uncomfortable. I apologize for being further delayed due to traffic jam. The meal is a buffet type, but it is not guided to the seat, there is no detailed explanation, and the system that can be taught for the first time from here is not? I don't know. I was convinced of it, but it is an inn consisting of the so-called third sector system. Dinner is a buffet style. I think the number of dishes is large. It is not possible or not. It becomes delicious depending on the arrangement. It depends on the use of iron pot. This was delicious many times when I narrowed down my wisdom, Petit camp feeling. The drink is also quite substantial. The room is beautiful. Semi open-air bath is satisfactory. There are some places where the floor is not firm, but it is acceptable. I can hear the sound of the child running on the upper floor. Breakfast is also buffet style, this is not the same as dinner, the number of items, the taste, and the taste are not good. I think the security of the room is not good. I thought it would be better not to expect the response of the employees. It's not bad or good. Friendly? Miscellaneous? Is it tight? It was a mysterious experience. I was able to relax because there was no excessive customer treatment. Total 70％satisfied.

Kinugawa is a hot spring town. There are very few Chinese tourists. It is not a free trip. At the Kinugawa Dragon King Festival, the shrine stopped at the hotel entrance and participated in the celebration. It was very lively, as if the summer festivals in the cartoon were very memorable memories. I lived in a Japanese room, big and spacious, and the window was facing Kinugawa. Everyone will go to the big bathhouse downstairs to take a shower, there is a bathhouse in the toiletries, but the room is simply packed. The breakfast is very rich, there are Japanese and Western styles, and many people have to line up. The front desk doesn't speak English, but I speak Japanese and there is no problem communicating.
