Manager Marissa and her whole staff was amazing. I do wanna say the room was very clean and neat. Keep the good work room attendants your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed and you all are the heart to the hotel. Everything was amazing, My stay was amazing.♥️

Staff was superfriendly. When I first checked in they seemed to be short staffed but everyone I spoke with jumped to help. By the time i left there were more people working could feel the difference with the public areas being cleaned up regularly. My room was very clean and spacious. I liked having a small kitchen. Wished there was an oven though. Nice little gym I was able to get my workout in each evening.

I was here last year and there have been obvious changes since then. For the better! New manger was super helpful she was able to understand the bill issue and fixed it right away. My room was actually clean and everyone I spoke with was super friendly.

Ugh, where do I start. I stayed two weeks and considered leaving, but never did (hence two stars versus one star). Poor response from the front desk is the overall problem, but here are some details: 1. My coffee maker was broken. Reported to the front desk twice over two days, never did get a replacement after two weeks. My first morning there I figured fine, I'll get coffee from downstairs - but there we no cups downstairs and no one at the desk (!). Ended up driving to Dunkin Donuts for coffee because it was impossible for me to get coffee in the hotel. 2. Very few cooking utensils. I asked the front desk for a pot, colander and measuring cup. Returned from work that afternoon and they hadn't been delivered, so I tracked down housecleaning and they got me what I wanted. Oh yeah, the can opener was rusted solid so I had to use the P38-style opener on my leatherman to open cans. 3. The light in the refrigerator was broken - literally broken, you could see the filaments exposed. 4. The alarm clock was plugged in to an outlet that didn't work. Astounding that no one (hello, housekeeping) ever wondered "why isn't that clock working?" I plugged it in to a different outlet that worked. 5. No clothes basket for dirty clothes. 6. Housekeeping was non-existent. In two weeks, they didn't enter my room or my work partner's room once and no one ever asked if I needed anything (I got new towels by bringing them to the front desk and exchanging them). I considered calling over the weekend to get clean sheets but by this point, I decided to see if housekeeping would show up with no prompting by me. Big mistake. 7. The sink drain and shower drain are in desperate need of cleaning; they both drain very slowly. After a short shower, you're standing in 1-2" of dirty water. After shaving, the sink has about 6" of nasty water in it. 8. The front desk receptionist (or, lack thereof) was a problem several times. My first issue was item #1 above. A few days later I went down for coffee but the maker needed to be refilled and there was no one there. No sign, no bell, no receptionist, hello Dunkin Donuts. Then again a few days later at 5:30am the coffee maker needed to be refilled, and the receptionist said she didn't know how to do it but she would report it to the next shift - at 8am. Off to Dunkin Donuts again. I'm wondering if I'm being too lenient because I've stayed at some pretty austere deployed environments, but I think this is a fair review. I stayed the whole two weeks which is why I gave this place two stars, but it's on my list of hotels to never stay at again.

I would give zero stars if it was a possibility. THESE PEOPLE ARE THEIVES AND WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY!!!!! My wife and I stayed here for a week, for our 10 year wedding anniversary. The 2nd day into our week long vacation we found an extra tentant, a cockroach crawling in the closet on the wall. WE RE-CLEANED EVERYTHING(while celebrating a major milestone) and since we didnt find more, and the room was clean we didnt rock the boat and let them know before we left that we had found one and flushed it. The trash was never picked up in the hallway, which is probably why they have roaches. Our whole floor smelt so bad out in the hallway, almost the whole time we stayed. The staff was a ghost town, other than the male staff member in the lobby hanging out and looking completely blown out of his mind the whole trip, and the rare occasion there was a staff member behind the counter. There was an intial $100.00 deposit taken from us upon arrival, we have called idk how many times and keep getting told to wait or some other excuse, or they hang up on us and as of 9/6/23, we still have not recieved it. We departed, with our room cleaner than we recieved it, 07/28/23. I dont usually write reviews but these people have stolen from my wife and I during hard times and believe they should be held accountable. This overall has been the worst hotel experience of my life, and of all the times it couldve happened. I would not recommend this place to anyone ever, especially people trying to enjoy time with their families on vacation.

We booked 3 rooms months in advance for an overnight stay . We were here to board a cruise ship out of Norfolk. We had 16 people booked in 5 rooms. The others had booked after us to be at the same hotel. The morning of our arrival I received a phone call telling me they were canceling the 3 rooms I had booked due to over booking.. The lady agreed to contact the Holiday Inn right down the street and make arrangements for us as we all were already on the road.. She contacted me back to say everything was good to go. Well that was a lie because when the first of the three rooms showed up they were told no such arrangements were made. I then contacted Holiday and was told the same. She actually knew the lady that told me that information. I did contact IHG about the policy of an IHG hotel is to cover your first night stay at another IHG hotel if you get canceled due to overbooking. To this day the General Manager is refusing to contact me about this issue even after being instructed to do so by IHG, We ended up being in a much better place than the Candlewood because the rooms and conditions were not good. One of our group came in the day before us for a two night stay. They checked out first thing in the morning due to the bad conditions without even knowing we were not going to be staying there. They booked through a third party and called and were given a full refund.

Several Roaches in suite/room upon turning lights on. Hotel management did move our rooms (only one room left ?) but second room was worse. Not clean and lacked supplies. Do not bother staying here. Awful experience and management still has NOT responded to our calls.

The front desk associate on August 13th Afternoon who checked us in was wonderful and welcoming, she was smiling and friendly, I was there with my family and had two rooms, every time I past by the front desk she was constantly helping guests not only at the desk but with housekeeping needs as well since now a days business struggle to find employees. She employee provided such level of services to all guests and was attentive in a busy weekend and made every one happy as far as I noticed, she truly is a gem for this hotel. we will be back and for sure recommend this hotel to all friends and family traveling to VA Zoo and VA beach. Thanks to Kyessa again and all team members here. What a wonderful team you are, keep up with the good work!

Arrival Date: August 6, 2022 Rating: -0 I was visiting the area. Upon check in it was frustrating customers in the lobby area. I basically ignored that. Then the system kept timing out every time it was processing my card. That was two signs already for me to go. But I ignored them. I finally get checked in. I proceeded to the elevators. Once it came it sound like it was going to get stuck at some point. The elevator was extremely hot, nasty, and funky. I made it to my floor. As I stepped off the elevator the smell on the floor almost knocked me out. The carpet was extremely dirty and the halls were funky. The hall was extremely hot no air-conditioning at all. I went back to customer service and asked them why it was so hot on the elevator and halls on the floor. They told me the air-conditioning starting blowing out hot air so they turnt of the air-conditioning. She stated she believed someone would come to the property that up coming week to fix it. I proceeded back to my room. The bathroom fixtures were falling of the wall. The comforter and pillows smelled like breathe. The bath tub didnt drain out leaving dirty water on my feet and legs. The room smelled musky. The curtains were strain and dirty. This place is a complete disaster. I will absolutely not recommend or stay here again.
