We reached in the evening and the welcome was warm. The road to North Sikkim opened after 13 months and we were unsure of the amenities we would receive out there, but we were pleasantly surprised to see the staff working out of their skins to provide us with the best of services they could. Warm water, steaming hot homely food in the extreme weather, breakfast served and packed very early in the morning as we had to leave early, and extra blankets to name a few. The only fault line if you ask me was that there was no heating facility in the room which was a dire necessity in that extreme winter. They said the locals don’t allow room heaters, but that being the case they should arrange an alternative mode of non electrical heating. We had a tough time sleeping in the night as the mercury dropped below 0. But otherwise, the place is absolutely fantastic and the staff needs a big round of applause for all their efforts.
