Stayed in the 4 bedroom Family Suite at Kamamotoya for a few days in Green Season. The accommodation was top notch… staff were super helpful, the flat was newly renovated, exceptionally comfortable and beautifully clean, with afternoon sun and great views out over the valley. We made good use of the gym and private baths downstairs. Another highlight was Hardings Cafe in the hotel lobby downstairs… excellent coffee, great breakfast / lunch menu… and they also do a tapas dinner on certain nights which you shouldn’t miss. Nozawa Onsen was an absolute blast… unlike some other ski towns in Summer we found plenty of fun stuff to do on the mountain, and most of the restaurants and bars in town were open. This place really is as much a wonderland in Green Season as it is in the snow.

The hotel is small with few rooms in a pleasant location in town. The rooms are well appointed with a super modern kitchen. The kitchen sink is out of this world and the cooking range won’t look out of place in a space shuttle. One of the managers, John Claude, deserves a special mention for excellent service. Thank you, John and other staff in the hotel. The hotel has its own onsen which is a nice touch. A memorable stay.

Kawamotya just re-opened earlier this year after an extensive renovation. The apartments are very modern and have a lovely Japanese touch. The location is great, in a quiet corner of the village, but just next to one of the most popular hot springs and no more than 5 min walk from the village center. We enjoyed using the gym in the basement and to watch the sunset on the rooftop terrace. In the lobby there is a nice Cafe called Harding's that offers a breakfast menu and they also make delicious pastries and the best apple cake in town. It was great spending time in Nozawa Onsen during the green season when the pace is slower. So nice to sleep with open window and feel the mountain breeze. We can also hear the water flowing around the house. It does not get more relaxing than this!

The room is more westernized in a good way, which you could not expect from the traditional Japanese outlook of the building. Very great service and room!! Highly recommend especially for international guest!
