Amazing venue, very clean, very comfortable, stunning attention to detail around the property and a fantastic host. A really great experience. If you are deciding between this place and another my advice is to go with this place, you won’t regret it. We shall be back!!! 10/10

We stayed at The lodge for two nights. It was nice, comfortable, warm and cozy, despite the freezing temperatures outside as it is winter. The owners were very kind and helpful towards us, and drove us to the Mardi Gras event (and back from the event too). We also got complimentary breakfast, which was also good, with a selection of cheeses, meats, vegetables and toast and scrambled eggs. Also, the views from the lodge were incredible, overlooking the snow capped mountains (possibly Mt Ruapehu). I really enjoyed the stay. My only suggestion is that there should be unlimited wi-fi provided, but other than that, I had a really enjoyable stay.

The River Lodge is a beautiful property set in lovely grounds. We had a large beautiful room, very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and a balcony with a wonderful view of the mountain. We had fabulous breakfasts and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only downside is that it is quite remote - about a 10 minute drive into Ohakune.

Was für ein traumhafter Ort. Das Lodge war sehr geräumig und mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht. Grosses Bad, einen Kühlschrank und alles für Tee und Kaffee stand zur Verfügung. Wir hatten einen Kamin im Häuschen, wo wir selbst Feuer machen konnten. Das Frühstück war sehr frisch und reichhaltig. Es hat an nichts gefehlt. Daniel ist ein toller Gastgeber, mit dem man gute Gespräche haben kann und einem mit Tipps zur Seite steht. Es wird auch ein Wäscheservice angeboten für NZD 20 pro Wäsche - die Wäsche liegt am selben Tag gewaschen, getrocknet und zusammengelegt wieder im Lodge. Wir haben uns hier sehr willkommen und Zuhause gefühlt. Daniel, vielen Dank für alles.

We are staying 3 nights in one of the new chalets: chalet #3. Everything the owner is doing is based on quality! So awesome chalet, super breakfast and very very helpful and friendly owner Daniel. From all the B&B's we had in the past 4 weeks in New Zealand this is by far the best.

Daniel ist ein sehr netter Host aus der Schweiz,der seine gemütlichen Chalets weitgehend alleine gebaut hat mit viel innenarchitektonischem Gespür.Er gibt viele wertvolle Tipps,was man in der Nähe unternehmen kann.Die Atmosphäre ist nahezu als familiär zu bezeichnen.Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt ,obwohl wir leider mit dem Wetter Pech hatten.Volle Weiterempfehlung!

A gracious host, views of Mount Ruapehu, and perfectly located for a day on the slopes or tramping nearby nature walks. The cabins are simple but nicely appointed and cozy. The breakfast included is ample, tasty, and locally sourced; a great start to a day out. The grounds are lush, beautiful, and well cared for. A perfect play to stay.
