Came for my birthday meal cool pub with lots of character the food is good though tad pricey. There is a nice outside area with views of the sea and Portland. The service is s tad slow but I suppose it was busy and being such a seasonal pub they must go through staff

Do not waste your money and eat at the Smugglers Inn. The food was mostly dreadful and was very overpriced for what we received. One meal was pretty much cold and the 'small plate' Sunday roast I ordered for my son was practically the same price as the main meal. The staff are overworked, dont appear to care and the business is just interested in taking as much money as possible. Will not be returning and wish I'd paid attention to the other countless bad reviews. Really disappointed!

We are on holiday from Kent and The Smugglers was recommended to us by a friend who had visited before. What a lovely place and surroundings. We had a lovely lunch of sweet potato and chickpea curry, club sandwich and then the cheeseboard to share. A thoroughly enjoyable lunch whilst on holiday.

Imagine a lovely country pub nestling in a garden full of flowers, a trickling stream, breeze in the treetops. The South West Coast path passing through the garden making it an ideal place for hikers to enjoy a refreshing (though expensive) beer. What could be nicer? Just one thing... get rid of the dreadful piped music that drowns out the tricking stream, the birdsong and the wind in the willows. Surely Hall and Woodhouse is above this disturbing trend to have background music very much in the foreground? Spoiled an otherwise destination pub for us. We certainly won't be making the 25mile journey any more.

A place in itself is very beautiful and charming…as far as food is concerned, I cannot recommend it at all. In theory and on the menu, it sounds great, but in practice unfortunately way different than that. The prices are also high, in my opinion.

This pub is definitely worth a visit. Excellent spot with great food choice, wine, beers & friendly staff. Lots of outside seating areas in the sunshine. Food orders came within a good time, great atmosphere in the gardens & inside. Beautiful surroundings & walk to the waters edge.

Disappointed by the menu which was really limited. I ordered a fish finger sandwich which I specifically checked if it was proper fish and chips and not fish fingers like Birds Eye ones…was told they would be like fish goujons. Well they were not, they were flat, breadcrumbed and not worth it. When my food arrived the top fell off the salt mill all over the food, the waitresses were great and got me new chips but when we got the menu- they had charged me for a second portion of chips! Bit rude as it wasn’t my fault their salt grinder was broken and it is awkward when you are with friends to ask for things to be removed from the bill. Felt it was over priced, including even soft drinks, limited menu and wouldn’t rush back. They need a wider lunch offering such as ploughmans, baguettes, jackets etc

We have been to this pub several times in the past and were never disappointed. However, last week, we had lunch there , and although the food was tasty and well cooked the portion was very small. We paid £22 for the hake with red pepper risotto. The fish portion was good, but there was hardly any rice, and just a few beans scattered around the plate. The service and location, however continue to be excellent.

The main course was okay, but quite small portions, the desserts were enjoyable. Due to poor procurement planning for the Easter weekend, they were limited in their choice of main courses due to being busy and running out of food plus some beers. After paying £300 plus , they added on a £30 service fee to the bill, which was removed when asked. Tips should be the customer's choice. Having the family all together made the evening a very pleasant experience. I'm unsure if I'll return, parking there is a challenge.
