Pro: *The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are laid out nicely and the beach looks pretty. Con: *The beach sits near oil refineries so if you walk on the beach your feet will get covered with tar that will take multiple showers to get off. The hotel is aware of this issue because they have boxes for wipes for your feet but in the 7 days we were here they were never filled. They advertise for weddings here- it breaks my heart to think of a bride getting her white wedding dress covered in tar like my feet were. *The ceiling light and fan had an issue where it randomly turned on and off all day and night. We worried it was an electrical problem and thus a safety hazard and called the first day to have it fixed. Staff came out and said they did not know how to fix it. But the light going on in the middle of the night kept waking us up. We asked to move but were told that wasn’t an option. Finally after FIVE days someone came out and told us the light going on and off was a known problem based on the way the lights had been programmed and installed. And finally fixed it, but knowing they knew it was an issue why did this take 5 days? *The food and service was so bad at Ox and Ocean that we stopped eating there. One morning we waited an hour for eggs. The highlight of our stay was when we found out we could use our $30 credit at the small onsite store for waters and snacks. * The property is advertised as non smoking but the people below is smoked on their balcony. That meant we could not use our balcony without it being full of smoke. *We talked to the front desk repeatedly about all of these issues. We asked for solutions. We were told management would call us to address the issues. No one ever did. We travel extensively for work. We’ve had better service at Motel 6. For over $500 a night it is a completely rip off.
