This hotel was 90 rooms but only 20 parking spaces. When you get there you find that there is a charge for the car park at £7 a day but then when you come to park and have already paid the fee there is nowhere to park even when you have paid the fee - a very poor outcome and the only place to then park is on the seafront at £12 a day. Would I stay there again ? Alas not until they have sorted parking

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the substandard conditions experienced during my recent stay at the Travelodge in Paignton, Devon. My family and I stayed at your hotel from 29/08/24 to 31/08/24, and unfortunately, the state of the hotel was far below acceptable standards, even for budget accommodation. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed the poor condition of the communal areas. The carpets were heavily stained and appeared not to have been cleaned in a considerable amount of time. Additionally, there was visible rubbish left around these areas, which made the environment both unpleasant and unsanitary. Most concerning was the fact that several doors within the communal areas were broken and posed a safety hazard, especially for children who could easily get cuts or splinters from them. The room we were allocated was in an equally disappointing state. The bathroom had significant mould growth, which is not only unhygienic but also poses a health risk. Furthermore, there was a considerable amount of dust build up throughout the bedroom, including on all surfaces and the skirting boards. The carpets were deplorable, with noticeable dirt and stains throughout. To our horror, we also discovered blood stains on the bathroom walls and door frame, which is completely unacceptable and left us feeling extremely uncomfortable. The room was also exceptionally warm, making it difficult for my children and me to sleep. While a small fan was provided, the casing on the fan was broken, making it unsafe to use. Additionally, the only window in the bedroom was extremely difficult to open; it required an unreasonable amount of strength to lift, rendering it virtually impossible to use for ventilation. This exacerbated the already uncomfortable conditions in the room. To further illustrate the issues we encountered, I have attached photos that clearly show the unacceptable conditions we faced. Additionally, while walking to the car park at the back of the hotel on numerous occasions, we witnessed your employees sitting on the air-conditioning units and vaping. This behavior is highly unprofessional and not something I wanted my young children to witness during our stay. While I understand that Travelodge is not a five-star hotel, the conditions we encountered were unacceptable by any standard. I chose your hotel expecting basic, clean, and comfortable accommodations for my family. Unfortunately, this expectation was not met, and we left the hotel feeling disappointed and let down by the experience.

Wonderful staff. My second stay here, absolutely love it.. amazing place right on the beach front and close to everything you need Will definitely be returning, and next time it will have had a lovely refurbishment, Shame I live so far away or I’d stay more often, Thank you staff for a lovely stay

Nothing wrong with the hotel considering the price that was paid. However, I probably won’t book a Travelodge again. A bit rough around the edges, not as clean as you would like and a musty smell throughout.

Loved my stay at Paignton Travelodge. From the warm welcome, to the clean room right the way through to the morning breakfast everything was perfect. What wasn't perfect however, and this needs looking at seriously is the parking arrangement. Parking is not guaranteed, I get that, I was aware at the time of booking. But if this is the case don't allow people to book 3 days parking if you know the chance they will be able to use it is zero. Booked to stay 4 nights and paid for 3 days parking. Was able to park the first night no problem as arrived during the day. The remaining days I was unable to park onsite. Popped into Torquay very quickly one morning and returned to no spaces. I've then had to pay for parking in one of the local long stay car parks. When staying in a hotel the convenience of being able to park on site is an added bonus, whether this is paid or unpaid. But if you are paying for it I would expect to be able to use what I have paid for. I would suggest making parking an extra that you can book prior to staying on a first come first served basis. That's my only gripe with this hotel, it seems like a money maker and makes me wonder how much money is made by people losing their spaces previously paid for. For me this might be one of the reasons I would consider not returning to this location.
