Mattawa River Resort prepared an amazing wedding dinner for us on a week’s , complete with thick, New York ***** loin steaks, shrimp, double stuffed baked potatoes, carrots and salad! The food was amazing and cooked to perfection! Can’t wait to visit Mattawa again and stop in for dinner! Thank you again Nicole and your culinary team!

The view is beautiful. That’s about it. The owner Nicole is absent and everyone who ‘works’ at the resort has zero knowledge. The owner rapidly changes prices daily and pockets all money she over charges. She asks you to send e-transfer vs. Credit card to ‘save the fees’. It’s just a trap so when she changes your invoices you cannot dispute it with their auto deposit. The cabins were subpar. We are country folk and are used to roughing it. All plugs in the cabin didn’t hold anything in them. All cords plugged in fell out. Fridge didn’t keep things cold, zero hot water. They do not maintain the boating equipment. Our girls went out on the peddle boat and the steering column was broken. They were stuck out in the river and had to be rescued by us on kayak. When we notified staff their response was ‘yeah, we know it’s broken. It has been broken for a while. Use at own risk’ our niece fell through the deck because of rotten wood boards and was injured. Thankfully she fell onto the wood deck because just on the other side of the deck was a large metal spike sticking out of wood under the water. She could have seriously been hurt. When I notified staff, zero remarks. It appears beautiful, but all the issues make it so unenjoyable. We had a large group, two cabins, 6 people. We travelled 6+ hours away only to be shrugged off. Nicole said she was ‘busy with her foster kids’ and that was her priority. I have kids and they are my priority but you run a business. They also charge a pet ‘deposit’ Nicole will call it. It’s actually a pet ‘payment’ to bring your pet. She’ll say you get it back, but you don’t. Every single avenue or way she can manipulate money or word it nicely, or make it seem great; it’s too good to be true. When speaking to other previous people who have stayed, it is much of the same commentary. We stayed at other resorts in the area, and were treated so much better. Save your money, stay somewhere else. The beauty of a view they provide, can be found in so many other areas of Mattawa. So absolutely disappointing. I will be contacting my bank to open an investigation of the money sent to her and I will be urging my mother in law to do the same.

DONT STAY HERE!! I want to start by saying the location, wilderness, beach, river, and rustic cabins were perfect for what we wanted. None of our many families were expecting top grade hotel ammenities. But we did expect a good experience. Our family rented quite a few cabins to get together. Mine was smaller and was the cheapest at over $900 for two nights - it had two small bedrooms, each with a queen bed pressed against a side wall (very small rooms). Cabins were nice in proximity to each other, the outsides were nice, and all were an easy walk to the beach. SO WHAT'S THE PROBLEM? in our case, the toilet flusher was stuck, and that's a simple call and fix. It just came running fast and would't stop in the tank. Called the desk who got the owner to fix it. He showed up and spent a couple hours working on this here (,we only had two nights with family I had t seen in years, and just lost 2 of those hours. I asked him to just leave it good enough to flush so we can do it manually (like get out please,). In the fix, the water tap feeding the toilet strated to leak which went in the living room as a puddle. So we put a bowl under that. Also showed him the fridge handle pulled off, necessitating us to use fingers against the magnets Then showed him how our bedroom light did not work. No switch or plugs for lights worked, so the fan we needed couldn't be plugged in the best spot Other family members had a number of issues to report as well . Various issues from ceiling Fans to lights, etc. I'm the end, we expected rustic cabins, but for $500 a night plus, e setting should have worked, but it seems short staffed, so there's an element of over-frugal ownership, placing revenue over quality. The furniture looked like it came from wherever yard sale it could be found, functional, but dirty in some cases. Couldn't fix the mystery electrical problem, nor the fridge handle, but no offer of any discount. His Huskey runs loose to keep wild animals away, but he also attacked our 12 year old Yorkie even when he was standing there on his leash while we talked to somebody. Our family had fun as a family and always will, but we got taken to the cleaners on cost compared to the distressed conditions of the cabins. Talk some of the money and hire somebody to fix things right!! The amenities outside the cabins like canoes and kayaks were great. Would never recommend it here at half the price! Never wrote a bad review like this ever, and took two weeks to think about it first.

Great stay- beautiful views of the river. The cabins were clean and the beds were comfortable. Nicole and staff went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying our stay. The food at the Cardinal Restaurant was amazing. Highly recommend staying here. We will absolutely be back!

The staff are amazing. They are welcoming to everyone. What a beautiful place to go. Wonderful for business but we will be sure to make this our next family destination. The winter activities sound fun too. Thanks.
