I stayed here without meals while sightseeing in Paris during the Paris Olympics.
The room was nice and spacious, and very clean.
The front desk staff was polite and showed me how to use the elevator.
The elevator was small, but it was a very appreciated facility when you consider having to carry a large suitcase up the stairs.
The hotel is close to the metro and on a busy street, so I personally didn't think there were any safety issues, but maybe that was because it was during the Olympics?
The food at the nearby cafe was also delicious, so overall I was satisfied with the hotel.
There is no air conditioning, so if you open the windows insects will come in, so you may need to be creative in the summer.

However
Rooms too small and poorly soundproofed. Noise in the hallway from 4 a.m.!
Tasteless breakfast. Bland croissants and undrinkable coffee.
Found hairs/hairs in the bed, housekeeping blah.

The front desk staff was very nice especially the lady. Our room faced the street which made for a lot of noise from people, cars, emergency vehicles, etc. plus the walls are fairly thin which makes for a lot of noise transference from adjacent rooms.

We had a great stay at this hotel the room was very spacious though the TV was not really working. Very well located minutes from Gare du nord and Gare de l’Est. Clean room and very spacious for our family of four. Only down side : the walls are super thin you can hear everything from next door
