Five-star review for Meixiangju Inn! Its prime location in the ancient city truly lives up to its reputation. We arrived quite late at Chaozhou Station on a weekend, but the owner arranged a car to pick us up, which was incredibly convenient. The inn is located in Youxiang, just inside the South Gate of Paifang Street. It's a mere 3-minute walk to Kaiyuan Temple and Paifang Street, and about 10 minutes to Guangji Bridge. During the summer, it's super handy to pop back to the inn to cool down, shower, and recharge before heading out again – incredibly convenient for getting around. The inn itself is a 400-year-old quadrangle courtyard from the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, a blend of Nanyang shophouse style and traditional Chaoshan folk architecture. With its black lacquered gates adorned with gold, vermilion carved door panels, auspicious couplets like ”Promoting Wealth” and ”Gaining Honor,” and lush green plants in the courtyard, every shot is a picturesque ancient-style masterpiece. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with separate wet and dry areas and complete facilities. The courtyard is quiet and perfect for a rest. The most heartwarming aspect was the owner. He had Kung Fu tea ready for us as soon as we arrived, and when we left, he even gave us some local specialty dried kumquats (Lao Yao Ju) 🍊 – one of the ”Three Treasures of Chaozhou.” These kumquats are made with licorice, monk fruit, and other Chinese medicinal ingredients, steamed and processed nine times. They're great for regulating qi, reducing phlegm, soothing the throat, and aiding digestion. Brewing them in hot water is wonderfully comforting, and a single sip embodies the warm hospitality of Chaoshan.

A super pleasant stay! I absolutely loved the sophisticated and minimalist style. The hotel is right in the ancient city, and you step out directly to Guangji Gate. The staff were very professional and spoke softly and politely. My room felt genuinely clean, which was a huge plus! 👍 Next time I'm in Chaozhou, this will definitely be my go-to place to stay.

My best friend and I spontaneously decided to visit Chaozhou, and we booked this guesthouse on the same day. It's right in the heart of the ancient city's Paifang Street, making it super convenient to get everywhere. Parking was easy too, just a few minutes' walk from a lot about 500 meters away. The guesthouse itself has excellent facilities, and everything is very tastefully done. The staff were warm and attentive, and the place was spotless. Honestly, the whole experience was even better than a five-star hotel. Highly recommend!

Overall, it was quite good. The room was relatively new and very clean. The front desk staff were super enthusiastic and even prepared a list of recommended local eateries. The Aqin Beef they suggested was really good. The hotel has plenty of parking spaces, and there are charging stations available too. However, the elevators were a real pain to wait for; they're very small and often overloaded. At night, the KTVs nearby were a bit noisy, and I'm not sure if it was because of a holiday event, but the front desk helped by calling to complain and coordinating with the community to resolve it.

This time, we traveled with our kids, so I picked a hotel near the scenic area for easy access to shopping and resting. I looked at a lot of places and compared many reviews before finally booking at Caiku. I honestly think it's great—a very elegant and unique hotel. I absolutely love their little balcony; it's perfect for taking photos that really stand out.

Traveling to Chaozhou with my family, I compared many hotels on the platform, considering brands like Orange Crystal, Hanting, and Home Inn Business. I then stumbled upon the local Meili series hotels in Chaozhou. Among hotels with similar conditions, its value for money was the best, so I booked it with an open mind. Upon arrival, I found it was indeed excellent. The location is close to both Chaozhou Ancient City and Chaozhou West Lake; you can walk there or take a taxi for typically 7-8 yuan. Downstairs, there's a row of new, clean electric scooters you can rent from the hotel for 38 yuan for 3 hours or 58 yuan for a full day, which is very convenient. It's also near Chaozhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, offering peace of mind for those worried about potential gastroenteritis from trying local raw seafood dishes. The hotel is located on Yonghu Road, with plenty of restaurants downstairs, especially Lei Ji Guotiao, which is delicious and saves you the crowd at the main Lei Ji branch on Paifang Street. Regarding facilities, there's an outdoor parking lot with ample spaces. Next door is another hotel in the Meili series, Meili Man Apartment, adding to the sense of security. Inside, there are washing machines with drying functions, two on each floor, so you can usually use one without a long wait. The soundproofing in the rooms is excellent, and the cleanliness is impeccable; there were no hairs or stains on the floor, toilet, or sink, and no water marks on the faucets. The entire room is smart-enabled, and there's even robot service. For service, the front desk is available 24/7 with quick response times, and daily cleaning service is provided for consecutive stays. The lovely lady at the front desk (No. 2) and her male colleague on duty were particularly warm and attentive. They gave us a free room upgrade, provided thoughtful travel guides and food recommendations, and bid us a warm farewell at check-out, inviting us to stay again.

Stay: 4–6 September 2026 The room is spacious and the basic essentials are provided, which was good. However, there were two main issues during my stay: room readiness and cigarette smoke. 1. Room readiness / check-in When I arrived at around 12:30pm, the reception staff told me check-in was at 2pm. We went for lunch and returned at 1:30pm, then waited until 2pm. When I checked again at 2pm, I was told that the room was still not ready. We decided to go sightseeing and returned at around 4:30pm. Unfortunately, only one of the two rooms I booked was ready. The staff told me they would pass me the second room key card once it was ready. I waited until 5:30pm and checked with reception again, and only then was the second key card given to me. The reception staff should have advised us of the estimated waiting time instead of simply asking us to wait. This would have allowed us to plan our time better. 2. Cigarette smoke Room 8410 had a noticeable cigarette smoke smell every time we entered the room. I had booked two non-smoking rooms, yet an ashtray was provided in the room. This was disappointing, especially for a non-smoking room. I also saw other guests smoking at the Level 4 lift lobby and even around the Level 1 reception area. The hotel should enforce its non-smoking policy more strictly. Breakfast was average. There was also a spelling mistake on the signage at the cooking area — it says “COOLCING STATION” instead of “COOKING STATION.” Overall, the room itself was spacious and adequately equipped, but the hotel should improve its room readiness communication and enforce the non-smoking policy more strictly.

1. Location of hotel was excellent. Nearest to 廣济门 gate. Hotel easy to find - enter Guangjimen gate and immediately turn right. You will pass by 天后宫 temple and just walk straight for another 5 mins and you will see sign post of hotel on the left side. 2. Hotel door and lobby has ”back to the past” feel and blends in well with the overall environment of Chaozhou. You can see Guangji Bridge on the roof terrace of hotel, a good spot to watch the 8pm light show though may be blocked by some trees in front if you are not particular. 3. Great welcome from host, 南姜 who was really helpful and she provided us many tips on food at Chaozhou. Our room was upgraded to a bigger one in the main hotel building at no extra cost which came as a pleasant surprise to us They have annexe buildings opposite to cater for more guests 4. Room is big in size, high ceiling and has wiindows. Single beds are comfortable with 2 pillows. Bathroom has good water pressure, antislip stone floor at shower area with laundry line. Toiletries like toothbrush, shower and hair shampoo provided 5. All restaurants and shops along Paifang Street is easy to reach by walking and usually within minutes. Use 高德地图 to navigate as Google maps dun work well here 6. When you check out, hail your Didi to pick you at 竹水门 instead as there is a waiting point. Hotel is just 5 mins walk to this gate Overall good experience in this hotel, highly recommended for it is really value for money

Facilities: Excellent and very new. Cleanliness: Spotless! I even told the cleaning staff it was clean enough, but she clearly has incredibly high standards for herself. Ambiance: Very pleasant, a quiet oasis tucked away in a bustling neighborhood. Service: I was quite annoyed with the room key issue. We were staying for consecutive nights, and after a tiring evening exploring the night market, we returned to our room on the sixth floor only to find the key card wasn't working. I sent my child to the front desk to get it reactivated. She came back saying it was fixed, but it still didn't work. I then had to go down *with* my child myself to the front desk to ensure it was properly reactivated before making another trek back up. It was genuinely exhausting. Suggestion: It's quite inconvenient to have to reactivate the room key at the front desk when extending a stay. Most hotels allow guests to simply continue using their existing key without this extra step. I hope this process can be improved, especially given how busy the elevators already are.

Amazing place! The host was brilliant. The kids loved their room. Beds weee very comfortable. We had a little problem with one of the room, but was solved straight away. They have an area were we can all Hang out which was lovely. It was easy ti find and once walk out you are on the Main Street with loads of food and shops ! Would stay here again xx
