GGuest UserThe location had great views over the valley, including the early morning sea of cloud. The property has a rooftop lookout that our group could get together to enjoy the view. It helped that our taxi could drive through the narrow road of Mengben village and deposit us and our luggage on the doorstep of the homestay. This is unlike Wengji & Nuogang villages, where cars are not allowed to enter the village but deposit visitors at the village carpark. The hospitality of the owner/hostess was remarkable. She had a Pu'er tea table and made us endless cups of different tea all grown in her farm, explaining their differences and virtues. She did not charge us a cent for the whole experience. Neither did she try to hard sell the tea leaves although we did buy a small amount off her because we enjoyed the tea. She is a good cook and whipped up breakfast and lunch for us.

GGuest UserThe hostel was exceptionally clean and tidy, and I was touched by many thoughtful little details. The owners were incredibly warm and friendly, offering a lot of itinerary suggestions and tips. The view from the small balcony was also stunning, perfect for watching the sunset and the sea of clouds; the location was superb. The beds were comfortable, the place was very quiet, and the facilities were complete. The other guests I met were also incredibly friendly and full of positive energy. Highly recommended!!!

Yyangxm1957The location of the inn is good, in Jingmai Dazhai, it is convenient to go to the surrounding attractions, and there are several good restaurants nearby. There is a parking lot with plenty of parking spaces. The room was clean and soundproofed. The night is quiet and sleeps in the mountains and jungles. I especially like the balcony, especially sitting on the balcony to enjoy tea, drink coffee, watch the stars, and enjoy the moonlight. The boss is warm and the breakfast rice noodles taste good. The price is not expensive in the peak season, the price is very high, it is recommended!

MMichele GramAmazing stay! The house is located just outside the village on a quiet road. The rooms are super clean, well equipped, and have air conditioning, which is important in winter. But beyond the house itself, the real highlight is the owner. We shared several tea-drinking sessions where he explained the secrets of Pu’er tea and Bulang traditions and history. Despite the language barrier (we don’t speak Chinese and he doesn’t speak English), he made a huge effort using translator apps, and communication was easy and fun. He is incredibly knowledgeable and kind, we highly recommend spending time drinking tea with him. He also created a WeChat mini-app with guides and information about the area, which we used a lot and found very helpful. Our stay was unforgettable: the Jingmai mountains were the highlight of our trip to China, and we went home with some amazing Pu’er tea and great memories. Looking forward to coming back!

GGuest UserThe most satisfying hotel in Xishuangbanna + Pu'er travel accommodation! The inn is with the tea factory. The hotel room is very large and clean, and there is an outdoor small yard. Behind the inn is a small tea forest, climbing a small slope along the path, which is the inn's own viewing platform, you can see the sunrise and sunset, very convenient, the scenery is unexpectedly good. The proprietress and the proprietress’s sister are beautiful and enthusiastic. When they arrived, they caught up with the local pig feast and invited us to participate. In the evening, there was a stove to make tea, roast sweet potatoes, tasted local oranges and peanuts. It was a very good experience of local culture. Although it was with the tea factory, no one sold us tea throughout the whole process. Finally, I asked and bought some tea cakes. Black tea and white tea went back. They were all very delicious! The hotel is located on the outermost side, there is a parking place, there are charging piles, except for the innermost stockade to be opened farther, everything else is great!

MMengruochenxi12In Jingmai Mountain, time isn't measured in hours, but in 'cups of tea.' Staying here for two days felt like being cleansed by the mountain mists. I woke up to watch the sea of clouds spill over the tea plantations, spent afternoons on the terrace sipping tea and daydreaming, and in the evenings, watched the sunset paint the distant mountains gold. The room was spacious, and every window offered a picturesque view. The wellness experience here is wonderful—it's not a forced 'healing' but rather a natural process that helps you slow down. The most unforgettable moment was a morning after the rain, with the air filled with the scent of tea and earth. In that instant, I felt that life is truly worth living.

LLurenyixiaojieHygiene: The overall environment of the guesthouse and the cleanliness of the rooms were good; they were kept quite clean. Facilities: The room facilities were basic, but the smart toilet was a highlight, featuring a heated seat. The temperature difference in Jingmai Mountain during winter is significant, and it gets quite cold in the mornings and evenings, so the heated seat was very comfortable. Service: The staff were enthusiastic and responsive, but don't expect city-level efficiency from them in the mountains. Environment: The view from the guesthouse's viewing platform was absolutely stunning! The view was expansive, with a vast sea of clouds! The guesthouse staff mentioned that at this time of year, you can only see half of the sunrise, but the weather was bad during our visit; the clouds were too thick, so we didn't see the sunrise. Drawbacks: The biggest drawback of this guesthouse was its complete lack of soundproofing! The guesthouse rooms are made of wood or bamboo and have two floors. My room was on the first floor, and I could hear every sound outside, including anyone walking on the second floor, even normal footsteps (not running or jumping), clearly from my room! I could even feel the window frames vibrating when someone walked heavily—it was incredibly loud! Even on the second floor, you could probably hear people walking in the hallway, because the hallway was also made of wooden planks, which creaked when you stepped on them. I could only fall asleep after everyone had fallen asleep, stopped talking and moving around. However, I'm not a light sleeper; a few days ago at the guesthouse in Xishuangbanna, I fell asleep instantly every day and slept soundly until dawn.

GGuest UserWe had an amazing stay at the Guest House. It's situated a bit down from Wengji village centre : amazing view of the mountains and nights are very calm ! We really appreciated staying in Jingmai mountain region, a more preserved and authentic area, especially after having visited Northern Yunnan where we were sometimes disappointed.... We rented an e-scooter at Mangjing which was very convenient to visit villages and tea forests around. The family is very nice and helpful, we really appreciated discovering all these different teas : green, black, white, etc. And so happy to have bought some home ! Wishing you the best ! DDionne94All the reviews are true, but it’s not the wooden building that causes it.  Yes, it is very loud and you hear everyone. We’ve stayed in other fully wooden places, it’s worse here. Maybe not the wood but the guests are the problem. Loud Chinese people, walking the stairs with the heaviest pace you can imagine. Maybe help the other guests by hanging some warnings on the stairs: please be mindful for the other guests when walking to your room.  Also loud Chinese tourist on the square below. Not only while eating they scream all over the place, also with the tea ceremony nobody asks them to please stop talking after 23:00/24:00. We were up till 02:00AM because of tea drinking Chinese people at the fire. We stayed in the suite, which is located above the fire pit. Maybe the other rooms are less noisy. At 7AM each morning, somebody ran down the stairs. We think it’s the staff. It wakes you up through your earplugs.  The staff is OK. They are very shy, not rude. They could be more pro active though as we didn’t feel like they wanted to do something.. which is different to rude but also not very friendly.  The other villages around are way bigger and less cozy than Wengji. Also, with this guesthouse being just next to the town, it was perfect to escape the tourists most of the time. We didn’t find other accommodations in Wengji with the same aesthetics as Shishi guesthouse so we can’t recommend other places better than this. Maybe if the guesthouse would invest in trying to keep the noise down under the various guests, with text signs or with clearer house rules (fire pit), the noise problem wouldn’t be as bad.  Maybe if they tried to enthusiast their staff more and keep them from watching Chinese drama shows on their phones all day, they would be a bit more welcoming.  We’ve met a lot of amazing people in Wengji, it’s definitely not the locals that have this behaviour.  Lastly, the suite has a cubicle bathroom in the room, they really don’t clean this well. It smells very bad and just feels dirty all over.  For comfort this place is too expensive, for the location and aesthetics you won’t find better options nearby.

JJonasWe (2 German travellers) have been in the area of Jingmaishan and wanted to stay a night somewhere. The hotel is about 2 km away from Wengji Ancient Village, that means 30 mins by foot. At first, we wabted to book our hotel directly in the village, but it turns out that booking Diwanara hotel was the best thing that could have happened. The host, who grew up there and is member of the Lahu-Minority is so warm-hearted, he sits in front of his house drinking tea the whole day and we would never leave or come back without being invited to drink some of his homemade tea. He has tea fields 10 mins away from his hotel, and he even took us there to teach us how to collect the tea. Also he cooks breakfast for his guests, which is just delicious. For everybody who, besides the quite commercialised Wengji Village, also wants to have an authentic experience, we can warmly recommend Diwanara hotel.
